Your Breakfast Honchos served up a short stack of the usual hilarity and hi-jinks starting with some summer entertainment chatter. The Honchos chatted about Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, the new Top Gun Maverick movie, and the new episodes of Stranger Things and Obi-Wan. After paying tribute to the late Ray Liotta, it was time for the always exciting Who Wore It Best? Segment. This is episode 60, so the Honchos paid tribute to another famous 60, former Cleveland Browns quarterback and NFL Hall of Famer Otto Graham. The Honchos finished the opening segment with another batch of headlines that included museum creepiness, death by septic tank, toilet paper usage by country, and a high-spirited debate on dog waste disposal. Yummy!The NCAA segment this morning was a referendum on NIL rights and the transfer portal by way of the continuing family feud between Jimbo Fisher and Nick Saban.The NHL/NBA/MLB was dominated with playoff talk again. The NHL is down to its final four and the NBA Finals are here. What a time to be a sports (and a Honchos) fan. The Honchos broke it all down as only they can. Before leaving the segment the Honchos tipped their caps to MLB, whose season is now rounding into shape as the calendar turns to June. New York has the best teams in both leagues, Joe Girardi is looking for a new job, and Tim Anderson and his White Sox teammates have overreacted to comments by the Yankees’ Josh Donaldson.No breakfast is complete without a nice slice of coffee cake, and nothing is sweeter than the coffee cake that is the Dope of the Week. It was the first show of May, it is Star Wars Day (May the Fourth Be with You), it is Teacher Appreciation Week, Mother’s Day is right around the corner. So much going on! Luckily for you, the Honchos were bringing their best May flowers tonight. The evening began with some serious nerding out about Star Wars movies and merchandise in honor of May the Fourth and then got down to serious business with the always exciting Who Wore It Best? Segment. This is episode 59, so they paid tribute to another famous 59, former Chicago Bears linebacker, and current Commanderskins head coach, Ron Rivera. The Honchos finished the opening segment with another batch of headlines that included government-sponsored massages, reasons to avoid the subway, and a special tribute to teachers in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week.The NFL Recap was largely an NFL Draft recap with a more in-depth review of the WooFTskins 2022 rookie class. Oh, and DeAndre Hopkins of the Cardinals got popped for PEDs and Ryan Tannehill is a diva. Go figure. The NHL/NBA/MLB was dominated with playoff talk. There is nothing more exciting than round one of the Stanley Cup playoffs and the Honchos were here for all of it with a thorough review. The NBA playoffs have moved into round two so the Honchos gave the NBA some love as well. The Honchos closed the segment with some MLB talk that included a look at the season after one month and whether robot umps should be a thing in MLB after the Kyle Schwarber-Angel Hernandez duke-a-roo. After all of that activity the Honchos brought the show home gently as they always do with the Dope of the Week. This week’s winner was Rick Garboski, PGA club professional. The Honchos recounted their vacations and then skewed really old with some chatter about the Monkees and Carole King before transitioning to Who Wore It Best? This is episode 58, so we paid tribute to another famous 58, former Red Sox, Phillies, and Nationals relief pitcher Jonathan Papelbon. The Honchos finished the opening segment with another batch of headlines that included cats as weapons, bad neighbors, and Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter (he just outbid Paul for the little blue bird).The NFL Recap focused on the upcoming NFL Draft and how it is Christmas in April for Rob. The conversation focused on what teams look for in the draft, best player available or need, and why the so-called experts focus so much on Combine measurables and ignore how they perform at game speed. The Honchos checked in on the USFL as well and whether this will be the Spring league to survive. SPOILER ALERT! It will not.The NHL/NBA/MLB segment opened with a salute to two NHL legends the world lost recently, Mike Bossy and Guy Lafleur, and the dynasties they represented. The Honchos also wound down the NHL regular season before moving on to the NBA. It was all Brooklyn Nets talk in the NBA portion because for a team that was swept out of the playoffs they seem to be the number one story in basketball. A very brief look at the MLB focused on Miguel Cabrera’s 3,000th hit and the exclusive club that he has joined and the San Diego Padres opening the door for advertising on the uniforms. The Honchos may have had some jet lag after two weeks off, but there was enough energy to end like they always do with the Dope of the Week. As Spring Break approaches for the Honchos, the guys talked about their Spring Break plans, toilet habits, and Paul’s new Bryan Adams tribute band. That was merely the warm-up for the everyone’s favorite new segment, Who Wore It Best? This is episode 57, so we paid tribute to another famous 57, former Twins and Mets pitcher Johan Santana. The Honchos finished the opening segment with a rousing Headlines segment featuring Australian vasectomy trends, chicken tender 911 calls, and uncomfortable passenger behavior on Southwest airlines.In the NCAA segment the Honchos did their usual thorough breakdown of Kansas’s 72-69 win over UNC in the NCAA Championship, as well as a shout out to South Carolina’s victory over UConn in the women’s tournament. The Honchos even squeezed in the winner of the Famous Alumni Bracket (still not on Twitter), Paul Rudd from the University of Kansas.The NFL Recap only had one story, and of course it had to be about the Washington Commanderskins. This time it was alleged financial improprieties that if true, may be the death knell for team owner Little Danny Snyder.Lot of hoops talk in the NHL/NBA/MLB segment, as well as a look at the NHL playoffs, the final update for the Ingleside Lakers as they were finally eliminated from playoff contention, Ben Simmons still not playing for Brooklyn, but finding time for a grievance against the Sixers, and a peek at the newest members of the Basketball Hall of Fame. With Opening Day coming up in the MLB this week the Honchos rolled out their 2022 MLB preview with picks and nuggets, and a look ahead to some technology changes for 2022.The Honchos could not leave for their Spring Break yuks without first dropping a new Dope of the Week. Episode 56 - Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.They say that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. Well, friendos, the Honchos came in like a lion this month and will go out like a lion – Dan Campbell to be exact. This was a big week in the entertainment world (more so than the sports world) so the showgram opened with celebrity talk – the passing of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, and the health-related retirements of Phil Collins and Bruce Willis from concerts and acting respectively. The Honchos really felt their age with that news. This is a wacky, feel-good show, however, so in that vein they turned their attention to the “Who Wore It Best?” segment featuring, in honor of the 56th show, legendary New York Giants linebacker, Hall of Famer Lawrence “LT” Taylor. The Honchos went back to the entertainment well for the Headlines segment as they dissected the “Slap Heard Round the World” at the Oscars, as well as a story about repaying debts to your drug dealer with nudity and shocking news about where Brits enjoy snacking. Here is a hint – it ain’t in in the kitchen!There are four teams left in the NCAA tournament so after some post-Gonzaga therapy for Rob, there was a thorough breakdown of the Final Four and even a prediction or two. Spoiler Alert! It is Duke for the win. They even had time to give everyone an update on the Famous Alumni bracket.There is never an off-season in the NFL so there was plenty of news to discuss this week. There was breaking news tonight about Bruce Arians stepping away as coach of the Bucs, the new playoff OT rules, changes to the Rooney rule, Roger Goodell’s plans for Deshaun Watson (yes, we are still talking about him), and Rob gave all 8 USFL fans a preview of the 2022 season (not really).The pickings were mighty slim in the NHL/NBA/MLB cupboard tonight, but the Honchos found one crumb to chew on. They kicked around the nutty idea to extend the NHL salary cap into the playoffs.In honor of the Detroit Lions being chosen for this year’s “Hard Knocks” on HBO, and Detroit being named host city for the 2024 NFL Draft, the Honchos replayed a classic DOTW featuring Lions head coach Dan Campbell. Episode 55 - Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.Spring has finally sprung and so too have the Honchos for another pastoral Wednesday feast of sports and other stuff. The Honchos put on their pastel finery tonight and talked about movies, the lifting of the vaccine mandate in New York, and the horror that is Peyronie’s disease (don’t ask). The Honchos shook that off and gave us the always sunny “Who Wore It Best?” segment featuring, in honor of the 55th show, a great (but not Hall of Fame worthy) player who also wore number 55. The mystery guest wearing 55 was former MLB pitcher Orel Hershiser of the Dodgers, Indians (yes, Indians) and the Mets. Before turning to the sporty part of the showgram there was time for a few Headlines about the dangers of drugs (and the people that take them) – inhaling deodorant, hiding drugs by consuming them, calling the police to verify the quality of drugs, and ironically-shaped edibles courtesy of Mike Tyson.It would not be spring without a thorough review of the smoldering wreckage that is our collective brackets and an update on the Famous Alumni bracket. Spoiler alert! Not great, Bob!Everyone but the Honchos were involved in an NFL trade this week, so the NFL Recap was all about old faces in new places. Watson to Cleveland, Ryan to Indy, Adams to Vegas, Hill to Miami, and the strange journey of Malcolm Butler ends where it began, in New England. The Honchos wrapped the pro football stuff with some hot USFL talk including some of their wackier rules.The NHL/NBA/MLB segment focused primarily on a review of the NHL trade deadline. Who made moves and who stood pat? The Honchos laid to rest the Ingleside Lakers update (at least until the playoffs), examined the money thrown at MLB free agents. discussed the new rules in MLB this season, Trevor Bauer in the cooler, Max Scherzer done with labor negotiations, and even asked why Rob has not been named the new MLB commissioner.No Spring is ever complete without sunshine, April showers, cherry blossoms, and the Dope of the Week. The Honchos spent a few minutes on St. Patrick’s Day traditions (and some stereotypes) before tackling (see what we did there) “Who Wore It Best?” It is the 54th show, so we paid tribute to another famous 54, Hall of Fame LB Brian Urlacher of the Chicago Bears. The pre-sports hi-jinks ended with some Headlines: the end of Daylight Savings, leaf blower rage, and a job that truly stinks. (We will see ourselves out now.)The magically delicious lucky charms we call sports took over the show with the Honchos take on the NCAA Tournament brackets. There was also a little chatter on the legal tampering period, the Jaguars spending spree, and Rob complained (again) about the Commanderskins.During the NHL/NBA/MLB segment the Honchos discussed the Leafs perennial playoffs woes, what the Rangers and Caps should do as the NHL trade deadline looms, the Ingleside Lakers update, the Nets being fined 50 large for allowing an unvaccinated Kyrie Irving into the locker room, the end of the MLB lockout, and the fire sale in Oakland.At the end of the showgram rainbow the Leprechaun Honchos await your arrival with the Dope of the Week. After some movie talk, including Rob’s review of The Batman, it was time for “Who Wore It Best?” For the 53rd show, the Honchos highlighted Hall of Famer Don Drysdale, who wore number 53 with the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Headlines segment featured plastic surgery gone mad, the best story from the 2022 Winter Olympics, and bizarre criminal behavior in Green Bay.The sack of sports was ripped open with some College Football Playoffs expansion talk, followed by an NFL segment that was all about the quarterbacks (and one degenerate gambler). The Honchos crushed national media outlets for their reporting on the death of Redskins (yes, Redskins) legend Charley Taylor, and then it was all about the QBs: the new Aaron Rodgers contract to stay in Green Bay, the Russell Wilson trade to Denver, and the Commanderskins trading for Carson Wentz (oy gevalt). Before leaving the NFL segment the Honchos rapped about Calvin Ridley’s suspension for betting on NFL games.During the NHL/NBA/MLB segment the Honchos discussed Alex Ovechkin’s obligation to speak out against Russia, the latest on the sinking ship that is the Ingleside Lakers, the end of steroid testing in MLB, and, of course, an update on the MLB Lockout, which has just caused the cancellation of another week of games.After a brief detour into the latest heart attack on a bun offerings from a burger chain that shall remain nameless, it was time for the Honchos to go out like a lamb with the Dope of the Week. After some show-opening small talk about vacations and family, the Honchos started the festivities with the “Who Wore It Best” segment. Today they paid tribute to NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis who wore number 52 with the Baltimore Ravens. Before leaving the non-football portion of the showgram, there were a few Headlines, which included snow blower rampages, Valentine’s Day candy, and the worst Black History Month tribute ever.There was only one thing in the sack of sports and that, of course, was a thorough autopsy on Super Bowl 56. The Honchos tackled (see what we did there) all aspects of the big game, plus the halftime show of course, as the Honchos waved goodbye to football as it went into hibernation for the Winter and Spring. Just because there can never be enough football yak, the Honchos also rapped about the newest NFL expansion team, the Washington Commanders, including thoughts from the great John Riggins on what a new name and logo mean to the players of the past.After such a gluttonous feast of football, the only dessert can be the Dope of the Week. The love fest started with some mask talk, Paul’s son going to his first hockey game, snow on the Island, and why Jackass Forever is such a romantic movie. This is the 51st showgram and in the “Who Wore It Best” segment, the Honchos put the spotlight on NFL legend Dick Butkus, the Hall of Fame LB for the Chicago Bears. After showering Butkus with affection it was time for some Headlines. There were stories of fishing, dipping sauce, fundraising gone bad, and tattoos.The focus of tonight’s showgram, besides love, was football, football, and more football. And arguing. The Honchos debated the racist undertones of Nebraska’s Herbie Husker mascot before diving headfirst into the NFL. It is Super Bowl Week friendos! The Honchos took a deep dive into the Super Bowl, analyzed the game, picked a winner, and reminisced about some great commercials. The football follies continued with a courageous conversation over whether Cincinnati should be closing schools the day after the Super Bowl, Brady’s retirement, and, finally, an economy-sized, heart-shaped box filled with anxiety over the state of the NFL and barriers to entry in light of the Brian Flores lawsuit. Buckle up. It got rocky.There was so much football packed (like Elvis’s colon) into the showgram that we had to ditch the NHL/NBA/MLB segment at the altar. It will be back next week we promise!The Honchos went out on a high note with the wide smile and open-mouthed kiss they like to call the Dope of the Week. The Honchos kicked off the proceedings by reminiscing about 50 shows and talking about the winter storm coming this weekend before the “Who Wore It Best” segment, which paid tribute to Hall of Famer David Robinson who wore number 50 with the San Antonio Spurs. The opening segment concluded with the Headlines segment, in which instead of stupid criminals there were stories of stupid America.The NFL segment featured a dizzying look at one of the most exciting playoff weekends ever and a preview of Championship Sunday. Additionally, the Honchos took some swings at the Sean Payton retirement, the handwringing and teeth-gnashing over the overtime rule, and the futures of Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers.During the NHL/NBA/MLB segment the Honchos discussed news around the rinks that included Keith Yandle’s Iron Man streak, Drew Doughty’s 1,000th game, PK Subban, Henrik Lundquist, and the passing of Clark Gilles. After the weekly update on the Ingleside Lakers and a check of the MLB lockout, the conversation turned to the 2022 MLB Hall of Fame Class (congrats Big Papi) and the fates of Clemens, Bonds, Sosa, and Rose.The golden delight of this 50th showgram took a bow as it normally does with the Dope of the Week. The Honchos opened the proceedings with some television talk, past and present, and then got down to business with tonight’s tribute to famous athletes. Since this is episode 49, we paid tribute to former Washington Redskins great Bobby Mitchell, who wore 49 for the Burgundy and Gold for seven seasons. In the Headlines segment it was another round of stupid criminals featuring pants, brownies, and stuffed unicorns.The sports proceedings came to order with the NFL Recap. The Honchos whipped around the Super Wildcard Weekend, which was anything but super (especially for the officials), and then previewed the upcoming Divisional round. Before the segment was adjourned there was some NFL news involving Mike Mayock, Rich Bisaccia, and Bart Scott’s advice to Josh Allen to beat the cold.In the NHL/NBA/MLB segment there was an NHL open skate, the obligatory Ingleside Lakers status report (Westbrook benched!), and an update on the MLB lockout. Spoiler alert! The lockout is still going on.The Honchos spent a few minutes on the Novak Djokovic adventures in Australia before bringing the gavel down on tonight’s showgram with the Dope of the Week. It was also the debut of Rob's new podcast equipment so it was just a steaming pile of newness for the Honchos faithful. The show started with some holiday vacation recaps and then the Honchos celebrated episode 48 with a tribute to another number 48, Jacob deGrom. pitcher for the New York Mets. The showgram open ended with some Headlines, which included stupid criminals and Lego's first anus! Now that is a reason to listen friendos!The Honchos started the cavalcade of sports with a recap of the College Football Championship (hats off to the Dawgs of Georgia) and uncovered the real reason why the CFP will not expand beyond 4 teams until at least 2026.Next up was the NFL segment in which the Honchos ripped through the Week 18 games, which included the epic, all-timer between the Raiders and the Chargers to end the regular season. The Honchos then broke down the NFL playoff matchups for this weekend and made their predictions. Before leaving the NFL segment there was a look at which coaches were fired on "Black Monday," the 7 available head coaching jobs going into next season, and why on earth a successful coach like Brian Flores was fired by the Miami Dolphins. Because this was such a football-dominated show our usual NHL/NBA/MLB segment was reduced to a couple of quick hits on topics like the MLB lockout, the Yankees hiring the first woman to manage a professional baseball team, and the latest from the Ingleside Lakers. No matter how bloated our usual segments get there is always room on the buffet for the dessert that is the Dope of the Week and tonight was no exception. The Honchos opened the show with a recap of Rob's trip to New York (and his failure to tell Paul beforehand) and then paid tribute to MLB Hall of Famer Jack Morris in honor of episode 47 since he wore number 47 for the Tigers, Blue Jays, and Twins. It was then time for some holiday-themed Headlines plus one about Karma being undefeated.The Honchos gift to you was putting the NFL Recap in the beginning of the show for a change. No returns, exchanges, or re-gifting friendos. After a review of the Week 15 games, the Honchos discussed the firing of Jacksonville coach Urban Meyer and the new Covid protocols in the NFL.The cavalcade of sports continued with the NHL/NBA/MLB segment. The stocking was stuffed with the sudden resignation of Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice, Covid disruptions to the NHL season, the NHL pulling out of the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. the Ingleside Lakers update, the return of Kyrie Irving to the Nets from Covid exile (lots of Covid talk again), and the return of Buck Showalter. After the Honchos talked about Paul's sojourn to New Orleans for his brother's wedding, they paid tribute to a famous "46" in honor of episode 46, New York Yankee legend Andy Pettitte. In the Headlines segment the Honchos tackled Zoom firing, snake removal, and parent volunteers at school that also happen to have an OnlyFans account.The sack of sports opened with the NCAA recap. The Honchos broke down the final four in the college football playoffs, coaching hires at LSU and USC (including the amazing clap back from an Oklahoma state senator), and a final Presbyterian Blue Hose update to wrap the 2021 season.In the NHL/NBA/MLB segment the Honchos gave us an NHL open skate, an Ingleside Lakers update, examined the MLB lockout nonsense, and celebrated the newest members of the MLB Hall of Fame, many of whom were long overdue for enshrinement.The NFL whiparound was extra exciting tonight as Rob got a bit testy over Paul questioning his assertion that the Patriots were back to being the dominant force in the AFC, but there was still the normal in-depth look at Week 13 and the games to watch in Week 14. So all was right with the world.After a brief discussion of the diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Beijing Olympics by the U.S., the showgram pulled into the station as it usually does with the Dope of the Week. Episode 45, in which the Honchos paid tribute to another 45, Bob Gibson, began with some Halloween talk and then gave way to some headlines. Tonight's top stories dealt with a high school blowout, strange times at the local Popeye's, and some terrible social justice from our pals at PETA.The Honchos popped the cork on the sports with some college football talk. The first CFP rankings are out so that took top billing in this segment. That was followed by Jim Harbaugh talk, interesting nuggets from the week that was in college football, the candy choices of the ACC coaches, the firing of Gary Patterson at TCU, and the weekly Blue Hose update.Things got heated between the Honchos during the NHL/NBA/MLB segment when the conversation turned to the NHL's handling of the Blackhawks-Brad Aldrich scandal, especially the Hall of Fame's decision to remove Aldrich's name from the Cup. After a discussion of their favorite horror/slasher films from the late 70s and early 80s, it was time for the Headlines: a Pop Tarts lawsuit, drunk Amish buggy drivers, and a list of favorite Halloween candy in each state.The sports portion of the Honchos started with a recap of the college football from last weekend, the stupidity of a 9 OT game and the worst taunting call of all time, the best games of the upcoming weekend, and the always fabulous Blue Hose update.In the NHL/NBA/MLB segment the Honchos examined the NBA's 75th anniversary team, the continuing saga of Ben Simmons, and the Braves-Astros World Series match-up. The Honchos had a lot to say about Alabama's loss to Texas A&M, the continuing chaos in the Top 25, the reality of who gets into the College Football Playoff, and the weekly Presbyterian Blue Hose update.In the NHL/NBA/MLB segment the Honchos waxed philosophically about the start of the 2021-22 NHL season, their favorite goalies of the past, salaries in the NHL, the Ben Simmons dance with the Sixers, Kyrie Irving's selfish stance on vaccines, and the MLB playoffs. The NFL recap had the usual whiparound look at the games from Week 5 and the upcoming games in Week 6, but the segment was dominated by the Jon Gruden resignation (firing) in the wake of his inflammatory and offensive emails. After an uplifting talk about their mortality and Paul's ear woes, the Honchos led off the show with some headlines about elephant tranquilizers, Michael Jordan's underwear, and the worst condom substitute ever.The bucket of sports began with some college talk. After commenting on the NCAA finally calling the women's basketball tourney "March Madness," the Honchos did a recap of Week 4 around the NCAA. The college segment ended with another Presbyterian Blue Hose update, the official college team of the Sports Honchos.In the NHL/NBA/MLB segment the Honchos paid a proper tribute to Henrik Lundquist before turning their attention to the Caps jersey ads, the changing sponsors for the Winter Classic, the vaccine war in the NBA and the continuing saga of Ben Simmons and the Sixers. The NFL recap contained the usual hi-jinks and hilarity as the Honchos whipped around the league to review Week 3 and looked ahead to some important games upcoming.
