The problem with paying people based on social consideration rather than economic consideration is that there is no reliable way to convert social value into a specific price.

Neighborhood meal prep plans wouldn't work because of dietary preferences. Omnivorous cooks don't have a clue how to cook a healthy, balanced vegan or vegetarian meal because they are brainwashed by dairy industry bullshit. Moreover, a neighborhood program like this would present huge social pressure to conform to an omnivorous diet when it's a free People's Kitchen setup. That said, meat production and consumption must not continue under a Communist social structure because the systems of oppression used to 'other' cows, pigs, etc. has historically been utilized to 'other' black folx, immigrants, and other minorities. Check out A. Breeze Harper's work on the language of slavery and the language of settler colonialist agriculture.

this was a dissappointing episode. the "assumptions" presented have very little to do with some of the more interesting and relevent subjects clattering around the field of economics. there are actually lots of people studying economics who share your visions of utopia and have lots of worthwhile ideas. i was very excited by the title as my brother and i have been debating some of these and i do usually argue that "economics IS horseshit" because of the deeper inherent flaws in how people behave in relation to the idea of money but this was a farce and just a lot of scoffing at outdated concepts (like hundreds of years) with no real democratic inquiry or RELEVANT INFORMATION WHATSOEVER! bummer folks

Lol this guy is not making sense! “Is were all gonna die, what’s the point of doing anything”.. like... improving lives of people during the time they live is already a worthy goal. Very enjoyable episode though, and very fun to see Shawn getting all worked up :)
