Discussion Questions
As you listen to the audio, keep these questions in mind.
If I died tomorrow, what would I be remembered for? Do I have any regrets?
What’s one piece of advice would you give your younger self? What’s one piece of advice would you give to young people in this world?
How important are relationships – with God, spouse, children, extended family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, etc. – in my eternal considerations?
St. John of the Cross famously stated, “At the sunset of life, I will be examined on love.” Examining the evidence, not the intentions, have I loved well?
Is there anything Joseph wants to teach me about priorities in the time I have left of life?
We are delighted to have you with us and are praying for you to have a powerful experience in deepening your relationship with the foster father of Jesus.

Discussion Questions
As you listen to the audio, keep these questions in mind.
Am I afraid of death? If so, why?
What can St. Joseph’s attitude and faith teach me about death?
To what degree do I believe what we profess in the Creed (“I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come”)?
To what degree does fear about leaving behind loved ones affect my attitude toward death?
What unresolved business – forgiving someone, asking forgiveness, restitution, provision for others, etc. – do I need to take care of before I die? When will I do that?
How could I draw closer to the patron of a happy death to prepare for that final chapter of my own life?
We are delighted to have you with us and are praying for you to have a powerful experience in deepening your relationship with the foster father of Jesus.

Discussion Questions
As you listen to the audio, keep these questions in mind.
Have I experienced the power of pilgrimage firsthand?
What pilgrimage experiences would I like to offer my family or friends? When?
The Holy Family not only went on pilgrimage because of religious obligation, but also because they wanted to. By evaluating the evidence of my actions and/or punctuality, could an outsider conclude that I want to attend Sunday Mass? What things do I prioritize in practice before the Lord?
If I lost Jesus for three days like Joseph and Mary did, how would I react? When I lose connection with Jesus through sin, how do I react?
Do I feel at home in the “Father’s house”?
We are delighted to have you with us and are praying for you to have a powerful experience in deepening your relationship with the foster father of Jesus.

Do the experiences of Joseph and Mary returning to Nazareth resonate with me? Why or why not?
Reflect on a time when you had to do some serious rebuilding in your life. What most helped you in that time period?
What can Joseph teach me about dealing with gossip and the negative opinions of others?
Do I gossip or contribute to making the life of others more difficult? What does the Lord want me to change my behavior and attitude towards my neighbor?
Reflect on the times when you stood up to gossip and defended the dignity of another. How did you feel and how do you think the Lord felt upon seeing you choose virtue over vice?
What lessons can I learn from Jesus’ obedience to Mary and Joseph?

How does Joseph and Mary’s experience of insecurity resonate with my own life experiences?
Imagine how Joseph and Mary responded to discrimination or unfair treatment. In what ways are my own reactions similar or different?
Who are the people that I have treated rudely or unfairly in my life? Are there certain types of people that I have written off in my mind or actions?
Is there anyone I could treat better or be more welcoming towards?
How could I seek Saint Joseph’s intercession better to deal with the challenges of my life?

Discussion Questions
As you listen to the audio, keep these questions in mind.
How have I seen the instinct to protect and defend those I love manifested in my own life?
How can Joseph teach me to let go of things I cannot control and trust in God?
Have I become cynical or am I constantly criticizing those in authority? How often do I pray for those in authority?
Does my protective instinct extend to all those that God loves? If not, who am I leaving out? Is the Lord calling me to a broader love of enemy and neighbor?

What are some religious duties that I have neglected? How can I better fulfill my religious observations out of love for God and not simply a sense of obligation?
What’s my attitude towards prophecy? Do I tend more toward rationalistic dismissal or blind faith?
How did Simeon, Anna, and Mary become so attuned to the Holy Spirit?
How do I deal with stress and the feel of being overwhelmed? How could I better engage the intercession of Saint Joseph to face the busy-ness of life?

Herod, the Jewish leaders, and the wise men were three types of “mighty” or well esteemed members of society during biblical times. How do each of these character react to Jesus?
Where is my personal identity rooted?
In what ways am I a welcoming to others? In what ways can I be exclusionary or isolate myself from strangers? How is God calling me to change my attitude towards the weak, foreigners, or those who are different?
Am I currently seeking out the Lord? What are the areas where I have been apathetic or complacent? How could I better persevere through dry seasons of prayer or difficult circumstances?
In what ways have I sought wisdom? What does Saint Joseph want to teach me about wisdom?
Where do I feel most vulnerable in my life? Where does a fear of vulnerability keep me from experiencing communion with God and my neighbor?

Discussion Questions
As you listen to the audio, keep these questions in mind.
Where and when do I judge others by externals? Do I change my treatment of others to fit in with the crowd or be accepted by society?
Why does God always seem to choose the meek and lowly throughout salvation history? To what extent do I have this same criteria?
What are some ways in which I am self-reliant? How does this effect my relationship with God and my neighbor?
How have I been a good neighbor to others? How is the Lord calling me to take greater notice of the needs of those around me, to give more generously?
Where have I become complacent towards unjust systems that I could work to change? Are there ways that my idea of social justice has strayed from Christ’s teaching about the poor, getting more caught up in theory and systems, and less attentive to concrete deeds of charity and service?
We are delighted to have you with us and are praying for you to have a powerful experience in deepening your relationship with the foster father of Jesus.

How do I respond to the natural tendency to want to control outcomes or other people?
Concern is a good fruit of love. How do I keep my concern from turning into worry?

Discussion Questions
As you listen to the audio, keep these questions in mind.
In our noisy world, it is not easy to discern God’s voice. Saint Joseph was able to perceive that voice in a dream. How could I be more attentive to the ways God tries to speak in my life? What noise could I diminish so as to hear him better?
What are some ways that God speaks in my life, or at least tries to?
As soon as Joseph received the angel’s instructions in a dream, he immediately shifted into action, taking Mary into his home. How can I improve the time in which it takes for me to implement God’s will in my life? What causes me to hesitate in following what I perceive to be God’s will?
Which relationships in my own life are calling for greater commitment from me? How could I engage and better commit?
For many, work is drudgery or focused on simply making money. How could I transform my work into craftsmanship, participating in God’s work and finding satisfaction in building up this world for God and my neighbor?
How could I better recognize my work as participation in God’s creativity?
How can I keep a “Kingdom mindset” as I go about my daily life? How can I be more aware of the reality of Heaven in my day to day activities?
We are delighted to have you with us and are praying for you to have a powerful experience in deepening your relationship with the foster father of Jesus.

Discussion Questions
As you listen to the audio, keep these questions in mind.
Unexpected situations can easily bring out the worst in us. Do I often find myself reacting with anger and frustration, or have I developed patience and prudence to head off knee-jerk reactions or hurtful comments?
We find no defensive witness from Mary in Scripture, trying to explain to Joseph what transpired or justify her pregnant state. How could I better follow her example?
On what occasions have you harnessed anger for good? What are the circumstances that trigger unhealthy anger?
What betrayals have I experienced in my life? Have I forgiven and moved forward, or am I still stuck in unforgiveness? What would it take to break free and forgive?
We are delighted to have you with us and are praying for you to have a powerful experience in deepening your relationship with the foster father of Jesus.

Saint Joseph was a man who experienced fear, just like us. What insecurities or fears have I discovered in myself and my closest relationships?
Scripture tells us that “Perfect love casts out all fear” (1 Jn 4:18). How can I better face my fears with the perfect love of God?
To what degree is my security rooted in the esteem others have for me? How can I be more securely rooted in my identity as a child of God?
How well am I learning receptivity to the values, insights, and gifts of the people closest to me? In what ways could I better embrace complementarity? Consider the following areas:
Awareness or acceptance of my limitations
Greater vulnerability about my own needs
Enhanced appreciation and gratitude for their gifts
How could I be more attentive to God’s voice in my life? Are there areas where I need to be more obedient? Do I need to display more determined action in following God’s will?
