Erika Robinson dispels some myths about Lenormand! In this episode of StaarCast Erika lets us know that Lenormand is more than a fluffy fortune-telling device. Like tarot, Lenormand is a tool of healing and introspection. Uniquely, Lenormand is a system of words. While Erika and Christiana are discussing the depth of Lenormand, they delve into the even deeper topic of shadow work. Can shadow work be done by a nation? Can diviners help create that process? These questions remind us of the importance of our community, and of our community gatherings, like StaarCon. --- Harlem, NYC raised, and Harvard educated, Erika Hageman Robinson’s life has taught her to welcome what is around every corner. While desegregating a private school for girls in 1964 at the age of 8, Erika learned that a good command of language was the best arrow in her quiver to bring adversaries either to her side or to their knees. At Harvard, Erika parlayed her love of words into an A.B. in English Language and Literature. Feeling that she had been called to the Episcopal priesthood, Erika received a Master of Divinity Degree. The Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts was less sure that they were ready for her to be a priest, and that led to yet another 90-degree turn, and stints as Assistant Director of Admissions at Saint Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire, Princeton University, and Columbia University. Around yet another corner were marriage, motherhood, and a thirty-year teaching career. There are turns within turns, and after her husband’s death in 2008, Erika discovered that there are also worlds beyond worlds. Now a Reiki Master teacher, Erika is a reader and teacher of Lenormand, whose thirty-six words combine in infinite ways to guide and warn, comfort, and heal. Many of us dream about designing a tarot deck. Claire Lily actually did it. In this poignant episode we see how Claire came to see a need for a new type of deck, and how she worked to fill that need. Aunt Lily’s Tarot is fresh, modern, and innovative, while adhering to standard traditions in a way that makes this deck approachable and accessible. This conversation with Claire gives us a peek into her mind, her process, and her lovely new deck. --- Originally from England, now living in Illinois, Claire enjoyed success for over 20 years in the corporate world of Information Technology. Claire grew up in a family that was open to spiritual realms. Her Mum was very much into astrology and crystals and was quiet about her own abilities that came out a little later. Claire had her birth chart written when she was 15 years old. Her Dad recalled being looked after by a psychic when he was a child who lived a couple of doors down from his home. Following Claire’s fascination of astrology and crystals, numerology and tarot quickly followed. Over the past 30 years, Claire has consulted tarot readers, read for herself and friends, and decided to pursue her passion for the tarot by learning how to use the modality to help others. She enrolled in classes and courses, gaining certificates in reading the art of tarot from two tarot professionals.
