Champions of 40k is a podcast that seeks to celebrate the people that make our hobby great. Hosted by Steve Joll. When Tabletop Titans started their live streaming of games - high quality video and audio, having fun, being competitive, but also being super nice guys on screen - they became an inspiration. These guys were doing something new technically, but also they were high level competitive players who were having a blast, allowing take backs, not getting salty … playing good 40k in a way that made me want to do the same. This week I speak to Adrian about the Titans journey and all the important stuff. This is the Tabletop Titans youtube. Go like the Champions of 40k facebook page. Or come and say hi on Instagram - I'd love to hear from you. It's mostly hobby stuff on Insta ... but still. Steve.
Champions of 40k is a podcast that seeks to celebrate the people that make our hobby great. Hosted by Steve Joll. Brian Jones is a hero to Imperial Knights players everywhere. He's the ITC best in faction, he's won plenty of events including the GW Open in Dallas, he's a member of Team USA, and he's a newly minted coach with the Art of War crew. He's also part of a brand new Imperial Knights podcast that also features Steve Joll and Stig. The link to episode 1 of that podcast is here. And this is Brian's coaching page at Art of War. Get his help - there's noone better!!
Kicker Kolozdi has stories. He has come into the hobby like a hurricane - appropriate, really, for someone who was living in New Orleans until pretty recently. He's on podcasts and videos and organizing huge events and he moves a thousand miles an hour. But before he was the face of Frontline Gaming, Kicker has had a fascinating, very full life. In this episode we hear some of his stories - and it gets pretty emotional for a while. And we also talk about organising events and what his top tips are fopr budding TO's. You can find the Frontline community facebook page here. And this is the store if you wanna buy stuff (including event tickets). Go like the Champions of 40k facebook page. Champions of 40k is a podcast that seeks to celebrate the people that make our hobby great. Hosted by Steve Joll. He is the Goblin King. Well - one of the Goblin Kings. Jacob Thayer is one of the founding fathers of Hobby Goblins, which started as a humble hobby group and has grown into an 40k movement, while remaining humble! In this conversation, the more I try and push on Jacob that he is incredibly talented, the more he puts it all at the feet of his team. But while he's not accepting the accolades - he absolutely deserves them. Seriously. Google Jacob Thayer Orks and see his work. It's ridiculous. Anyway - I hope you enjoy this chat - he's the man with the golden voice. You can find the Hobby Goblins facebook page here. And this is the HG youtube channel. Champions of 40k is a podcast that celebrates the awesome people that play, paint, talk about and create content in our hobby. Francois Lalonde is one of those people. How smart does a person have to be, do you think, to be able to lecture in American history at a University in two languages? Francois conducts lectures in both French and English. He's a member of the Candian WTC team, and one of the familiar faces and voices of the Canhammer organization that competes at events, and creates content. I hope you enjoy this very Canadian episode - Steve. You can find the Canhammer facebook page here. And this is the Canadian WTC team page. Go like the Champions of 40k facebook page. Champions of 40k is a podcast that celebrates the awesome people that play, paint, talk about and create content in our hobby. People like 'Katie Plays 40k'. Katie Foad made me a cup of tea once. Maybe one of the greatest cups of tea I've ever had. I was visitng the Tabletop Tactics studios in Chippenham, England and about to play a game with Chef, so the situation itself was pretty great too. In this episode we talk about Katie's audition to get the job at TT, being a woman in the world of 40k, mental health (Katie actually has a degree in this, so she's qualified to discuss it), and lots more. You can find the Tabletop Tactics website here. And this is their Youtube channel. Go like the Champions of 40k facebook page. Or come and say hi on Instagram - I'd love to hear from you. Paulie - AKA Skyserpent - and George are two of the mighty trio that brings us the Realspace Raiders podcast. They are long standing Drukhari mains, and also two of the most generous, encouraging people in the hobby. Both of them have been incrediubly encoraging of this porcast, and of my own hobby progress - especially since I started a drukhari army. Their loyalty to one faction is a big part of this episode. We spend plenty of time talking about the dark kin and what makes the army special. And some time talking about how to play this glass cannon. You can find the Realspace Raiders info here. Champions of 40k is a podcast that celebrates the people who make our hobby great. This is an episode I recorded a while back with a Champion of Space Wolves and the Lord Marshall Conference. He's a man with whom I had a slightly rocky start, but as it turns out, someone with whom I have a lot in common! Brian Hunter - aka Bam - has had a hell of a life and tells a great story. You can find the Flying Monkeys info here. That's the facebook link. It'll take you to the podcast and anything else you need to see! Go like the Champions of 40k facebook page. Champions of 40k is a podcast that celebrates the people who make our hobby great. In this episode I speak with one of New Zealanbd's greatest exports - David Gaylard. He's the Karl Urban of 40k, the Peter Jackson of the hobby, the Jonah Lomu of Warhammer! Those are all names of other New Zealanders who are very good at what they do. We speak a bit about New Zealand (naturally), a lot about what it takes to get very good at 40k, a bit about TTS, and quite a lot about lots of other stuff. You can find the 40k Fireside podcast here. That's the youtube link. Go like the Champions of 40k facebook page. Or say hi on Instagram - I'd love to hear from you. Champions of 40k is a podcast that celebrates the people who make our hobby great. In this episode I speak with Anthony Vanella - a man who grew up in the heart of suburbia, learned to fight, turned fighting into his living, and has now morphed that into a career as one of the best 40k players in the world. He is vice-captain of the US WTC team, he's a coach at Art of War, and he's a specialist in the aggressive play style which has become his trademark. We talk a LOT about all of that. What is true love? And is there such a thing as love at first sight? These don't sound like very Warhammer questions - but they can be. In this episode Steve Joll and Jake Harding talk about his journey in 40k, and also finding that army that you completely fall for. Each of us gets to that place of loving a faction in a different way. This is, partly, the story of how Jake found Votann. You can find the Vanguard Tactics youtube channel here. Steve Joll gets to know the people who champion all aspects of our awesome hobby - Warhammer 40,000. In this episode, Seth the Mad Dok Oster explains his nickname, tells us how he got his start in content creation, and what led him to the seat that used to be occupied by the OG of 40k podcasting, Reece Robbins. We also discuss what happens when you fall out of love with your main army (Steve needs help). Oh, and we talk about Orks. Painting orks, playing orks, painting orks, collecting orks, painting orks. Did I mention painting orks? You can find Seth, Kicker and Nick's new youtube channel here. Give them a sub! The podcast is still on the Frontline Gaming Network channel - which is in all the usual places. The Spotify link, for example, is here. Go like the Champions of 40k facebook page. The hobby of 40k has introduced me to some of the nicest people I've ever met anywhere. One of those people is Stig from Tabletop Tactics. He was an early supporter of my podcasts, and is always one of the first to like or share the nonsense I post to instagram. In this episode the man - who didn't earn his Ad Mech sounding nickname the way you think he did - talks to me about life before 40k, when a career as a rock n roll drummer beckoned, whether he gets recognised as a celebrity while out and about, how he fell into the famous job, and what it's really like working with Lawrence and co at Tabletop Tactics. And, of course, why they call him Stig. I hope you enjoy the episode - it's been a long time coming!
