Carlo Minchillo tells us about the Brooklyn Drum Collective, an organization he co-founded with the purpose of building a stronger community local drummers and musicians more generally. We hear music from Powersnap, Bizarre Sharks, and True Dreams, who are all playing a BDC-sponsored show on the rooftop at Our Wicked Lady on July 19th, along with Catty. We also hear from a few projects Carlo has recently begun playing with, himself: Pocket Protector, The Planes, and Glass Slipper. The Mad Doctors recently announced they’ll be bringing their band to an end, but not before putting out aa final EP, appropriately titled ‘RIP,’ and doing one last run of tour dates. First, though, they’ll be playing the annual King Pizza Records extravaganza, PIZZAFEST666, along with a bunch of cohorts: Stuyedeyed, Lumps, PowerSnap, The Rizzos, Top Nachos, Shelter Dogs, Vamanos, Sun Voyager, The Night Screams, and more!
Also, Vancouver post-punk band dumb is in Brooklyn to play a show at Alphaville at the end of June and Gemma has their record release show at Union Pool in July.
