Carlo Minchillo tells us about the Brooklyn Drum Collective, an organization he co-founded with the purpose of building a stronger community local drummers and musicians more generally. We hear music from Powersnap, Bizarre Sharks, and True Dreams, who are all playing a BDC-sponsored show on the rooftop at Our Wicked Lady on July 19th, along with Catty. We also hear from a few projects Carlo has recently begun playing with, himself: Pocket Protector, The Planes, and Glass Slipper. Pocket Protector is playing “High Tea with the New Restaurants” at the Footlight on July 27th, so we also hear from The New Restaurants and Flying Pace (who are also on the bill). 00:00 - // StereoactiveNYC / BTRtoday ID // 01:06 - // Welcome // 01:55 - // INTERVIEW: Carlo Minchillo from the Brooklyn Drum Collective (intro music clip: “But Ms. Love” by the Unsacred Hearts) // 03:10 - // INTVW: beginnings and mission of Brooklyn Drum Collective // 04:48 - // INTVW: repairing drum backlines at venues // 14:27 - // INTVW: community building and improving skills // 16:58 - // INTVW: do you need to be a drummer to join? / what is a meeting like? // 19:08 - // INTVW: next event is July 19 at Our Wicked Lady rooftop w/ Powersnap, Catty, Bizarre Sharks, True Dreams // 19:43 - // Carlo's current music projects: Pocket Protector, The Planes, Glass Slipper // 21:53 - // INTVW: wrapping up / how to contact Brooklyn Drum Collective / END INTERVIEW (outro music clip: “Gotta Gotta Shake It” by the Unsacred Hearts) // 23:24 - // Mic Break // 25:38 - “Chemistry / Romeo” (BTR Live Studio, 2018) - Powersnap 30:14 - “Lame” (BTR Live Studio, 2018) - Powersnap 33:06 - “Fuckit” - Bizarre Sharks 36:01 - “Tremendous” - Bizarre Sharks 39:17 - “The Scum” - True Dreams 41:24 - // Mic Break // 48:31 - “Blue Shell” - Pocket Protector 51:11 - “National Treasure Pt. 2” - The New Restaurants 54:22 - “Thought Balloons” - Flying Pace 57:21 - “The Box” - The Planes 60:12 - “Loose Ends” (BTR Live Studio, 2019) - Glass Slipper 63:04 - // Outro + Disclaimer // 64:29 - // End Transmission //
