YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS...MAXFUNDRIVE TIME! That means time for a super special, super SLOPPY episode of Still Buff where we're going full 90s game show and gettin real down and sloppy with the dares and the double dares. Come join us! And join us again at maximum fun.org/join! Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
So we've obviously talked about the OG Mean Girls before, AND we've talked about musicals, AND we've talked about Reneé Rapp, so what else could we possibly be talking about this week but the newest rebooted and significantly more musical version of Mean Girls starring Reneé Rapp??Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
It's time for our Still Buff Sibs to deep dive into one of the best and most iconic female punk bands of the 90s/2000s, because that's quite literally the perfect era for us to be deep diving into, so let's talk about The Donnas!Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
Literally HOW have we not talked about this already?? It's a universally beloved 90s teen movie, how did it take us YEARS to make an episode on it???Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
Our littlest Smirl sibling realized she had seen so many cool new hip Gen Z artists in concert recently but still hasn't shared them with her older siblings, so it's time to fix that!Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
It's finally time to talk about the most talked about movie of the year (maybe the century) because we know you all have just been dying waiting for the Still Buffering take on Barbie. (side note: this was recorded before Oscar nominations came out, or else I'm sure we would have had a lot to say about that too)Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
Every once in a while we take a look back at those classic 90s/2000s romcoms and are reminded how familiar they all feel, but for this one....it gets weird. Like, this movie is kind of weird and we can't believe it came out 27 years ago.Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
We've finally reached the point in our dystopian world that the Squid Games are REAL, so of course we had to watch them and talk about how absolutely unhinged they are. Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
We've delved into the world of Scott Pilgrim before, but we all couldn't wait for its newest installment in the form of an anime. While it might not seem like a new addition to the series could survive without much Scott actually in it, we all realized (spoiler alert) it's actually better that way maybe?Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
The whole basis for this episode came from Sydnee calling Rileigh "very much a Sally," and Rileigh (having no idea what this meant) immediately had to watch this classic movie for the first time ever to see whether her big sister was roasting her or not. Also just because she's a Virgo DOES NOT MEAN SHE'S HIGH MAINTENANCE, OKAY?Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
Out of all the people that could have introduced our siblings to this teen lesbian fight club movie, somehow it was their dad, but they're really glad he discovered it because they can't get enough.Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
This week, Teylor brought his sisters an album that is just perfect for a cold weekend in December, and we hope you think so too!Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
Well, the day his finally arrived. We've all hinted at our never-ending and undying love for a certain hunky cartoon fox before, but now we're finally dedicating an entire episode to him. Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
The day has once again arrived where Taylor Swift releases (or rereleases) a new album and Rileigh has a perfect excuse to make her siblings listen to it. This time, it's finally time to listen to Rileigh's FAVORITE album and all the tea that comes along with it. Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
We present to you a belated celebration of spooky season to dive into one of the most underrated spooky season films of the last generation!Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
It's not often that our eldest Smirl siblings can bring something to the table that Rileigh never even knew existed...but boy Sydnee certainly hit the mark there this week. Also, are gnomes scary? Are they threatening us? WHAT DO THEY WANT?Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
As a 23 year old teenage girl, Rileigh is obviously the key demographic for Olivia Rodrigo's angry-pop-rock-girl music, and we can't wait to dive right into her newest album.Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
Though admittedly this movie was far from any of our childhoods, it's become part of a meaningful holiday tradition for Teylor, so it merits a whole episode! Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
Not only does Rileigh get to share one of her favorite twenty-something teenage girl artists with her siblings this week, but she gets to teach them ALL about the absolute biggest deal in American high school theatre: the JIMMY'S. Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas
We had planned on talking about Jimmy and his music in our next episode, but with the news of his passing, we found it difficult to talk about much else this week than the man whose music has brought our family together for decades. We got a little emotional this week, but join us as we take a trip through not only our favorite Jimmy songs, but our favorite Jimmy memories from a life full of them. Music: "Baby You Change Your Mind" by Nouvellas

silicon straws are the BEST!! Not only can you reuse them for a really long time, but also if you feel the need to chew on the ends, you can do that. It feels better than chewing on plastic straws. (I'm autistic and straw chewing seems common, so I'm sure there are other autistic people who would also love these. )

Syd being self-conscious about her orders = #relatable . I'm vegan *and* allergic to the most popular vegan ingredients (beans, including soy). I apologize the entire time In ordering and asking questions, then I tip 25%

I like Ted as lawyer representation because, before him, the only tv or movie lawyers I saw were either evil sleeze or Erin Brockovich style savior, and most lawyers I've met are normal people except with intensely exhausting jobs that take far too many hours per week

If I were looking for a new doctor and one of the doctors on their website had pink hair, I'd specifically ask for that one

ENM (ethical non monogamy) and poly aren't interchangeable words. It's a rectangles/squares thing. If you're poly, you're under the umbrella of ENM, but there are many ways to be ENM (thruples. open relationships, relationship anarchy, swapping, more). Of course, the point the siblings made still stands which is that the movie demonstrated not informed and not consenting, so just NM with no ethics.

I recognize all the flaws and the fact that it didn't age well, but High Fidelity (book AND movie) will always hold a special place in my heart. 🙃

Writing this before listening to the episode -- here is the order of the Grinches IMO: 1. the absolutely perfect original 1966 animated version based on the fantastic Dr. Seuss book; 2. the surprisingly super fun 2000 live action iteration, which I fully expected to hate but which is now on my annual "Must See" holiday list, starring Jim Carrey; 3. the unnecessary, just "meh" 2018 animation that nobody asked for, and that, quite frankly, I really don't remember; and... 4. the Grinch Musical that I never plan to see because it's even more unnecessary than the 2018 animation. Hoping the hosts agree with me -- now to listen and find out!

as an aroace who has zero interest in ever dating, this episode is fascinating in the same way as learning about a foreign culture

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is "Never get involved in a land war in Asia," but only slightly less well known is this: "Never go in against a Sicilian when DEATH is on the line! Ha, ha, ha, ha....(falls over dead.)
