At the time he had a job on Hollywood and Vine dressed up as Frankenstein. Moran had the same agent as his sister, Erin, who played Joanie Cunningham on Happy Days. When Moran went to audition for the role of Michael Myers in 1978, he met for an interview with director John Carpenter and producer Irwin Yablans. He has since stated that he originally did not want to do the movie, only changing his mind when he got confirmation that Donald Pleasence would be in it. He later got a call back and was told he had got the part. Moran was paid $250 for his appearance in Halloween and did not return for any of the sequels, although he was paid for his appearance at the beginning of Halloween II, which was a recap of the first film. Halloween was Moran's only film for 30 years. Through the late seventies and early eighties, he has made guest appearances in several television series including CHiPs, The Waltons, James at 15, and California Fever. In 2008, Moran returned to acting with the short film The Lucky Break. In 2010, he produced and starred in the horror film Beg, which also stars his Halloween co-star P.J. Soles. In 2014 he starred in Dead Bounty. In 2014 he appeared in the documentary film Horror Icon: Inside Michael’s Mask with Tony Moran, which premiered in October 2015. Her mother was of Armenian descent and her father's ancestry was French Canadian, Irish, and German. She has a sister, Jocelyn, and a half brother on her father's side, Robert Barbeau, who still resides in the Sacramento area. She attended Del Mar High School in San Jose, California. After graduating in 1963, she enrolled at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, California, but dropped out at age 19 to participate in a USO Tour with the San Jose Light Opera. In her autobiography, Barbeau says that she first caught the show business bug while entertaining troops at army bases throughout Southeast Asia, touring with the San Jose Civic Light Opera. In the late 1960s, Barbeau moved to New York City and worked "for the mob"as a go-go dancer. She made her Broadway debut in the chorus of Fiddler on the Roof and later took the role of Hodel, Tevye's daughter; Bette Midler played her character's sister Tzeitel. She left Fiddler in 1971 to play the leading role of Cookie Kovac in the off-Broadway nudie musical Stag Movie. Barbeau, as Cookie Kovac, and Brad Sullivan, as Rip Cord, were "quite jolly and deserve to be congratulated on the lack of embarrassment they show when, on occasion, they have to wander around stark naked. They may not be sexy but they certainly keep cheerful," wrote The New York Times theater critic Clive Barnes in an otherwise negative review. Barbeau went on to star in more than 25 musicals and plays, including Women Behind Bars, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and Grease. She received a Theater World Award and a 1972 Tony Award nomination for her portrayal of tough-girl Rizzo in Grease. Episode Notes S6E28 - Join us as we chat with The Acquitted Russ Faria. He'll be in the house catching us all up on the aftermath of his wife Betsy's Murder Case. Russell Faria, convicted in 2013 for the first degree murder of his wife, Betsy Faria (of Troy, Missouri) in 2011, was acquitted of the charges during November 2015 in St. Louis Circuit Court. Nearly two years after Faria was convicted and four years after the brutal stabbing of Betsy in their home, attorney Joel Schwartz of the RSRG Law Firm was able to present new evidence advocating for the acquittal of Mr. Faria, which ultimately resulted in the reversal of the case’s 2013 verdict. Faria had served two years of his life sentence when an appeals court ordered the judge to revisit several issues in the case; specifically the additional investigation of other potential suspects and evidence that was hidden during the investigatory process in 2011. NBC discusses the decision for a retrial in a story published in November 2015, right around the time the acquittal was announced. Additional complications in the case presented during the new trial afforded our attorney, Mr. Schwartz, the opportunity to present a theory pertaining to Betsy’s $150,000 life insurance policy that close friend Pamela Hupp became a beneficiary of mere days before Ms. Faria was murdered. Ongoing litigation in civil court between the Faria’s daughters and Ms. Hupp is still pending as Hupp was, indeed, awarded the large sum of money. Episode Notes S6E27 - Join us as we dive into the mind of Author & Speech Writer Eduardo Goncalves. He'll ake us on his journey from his top selling novels to how he helped save the Iberian Lynx from extinction. Eduardo Gonçalves has been a speech-writer for British politicians, run a government department in the Middle East, and helped save the world’s most endangered big cat – the Iberian Lynx – from extinction. A former journalist with the BBC, he exposed a major nuclear accident cover-up and secret human radiation experiments. He’s a conservationist who has advised the World Wildlife Fund, and has worked with homelessness charities on both sides of the Atlantic. He has an organic olive and cork farm in Portugal - from where his parents emigrated to the UK during the country’s dictatorship – which became a sanctuary for stray and abandoned cats. In the run-up to the 2015 Paris Climate agreement, he was an influential behind-the-scenes player, hosting Climate Week NYC. In 2013, he donated a kidney to his 9-year-old son. The two went on to win Gold at the British Transplant games 2 years later and set up a support group for families affected by kidney disease. He recently led a major undercover operation to break up Europe’s largest dogfighting crime syndicate, and rescued a tiger cub that was about to be shot by a trophy hunter in an enclosure. Despite a serious illness which has led him to become disabled, he has set up an international campaign to stop trophy hunting of wildlife. His work is supported by some of the world’s biggest stars as well as leading conservationists and African politicians. Episode Notes S6E26 - Join us as we dive into the mind of Author rook Urick. She'll be in the house telling tales of her time within the Sugar Daddy Website and much much more. Brook worked in the PR department of a popular sugar daddy website for five years while also navigating the world of “sugaring.” At first I thought it was harmless, what’s the problem with an older guy giving someone money? I slowly learned I was asking the wrong questions. My upbringing was filled with playing outside, jumping off the shed into my dad’s arms then making out with my female neighbor inside when he wasn’t looking. My mom was always cooking, always in the middle of some lovely art project. Despite how I might portray them in the book (which they are barely in at all to be fair), I love them both and have a great relationship with them now. Honestly until I started writing this book back in 2021, I thought I had a great childhood and that it didn’t fuck me up. I did have a great childhood, but it also fucked me up. Both can be true. While the family lived in Illinois, he enrolled in a summer program at Northwestern University, where he took acting lessons and won an award. His first break came when he was 17 years old and working part-time at the New Frontier Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas selling artwork. He was hired as a driver for Robert Goulet and Carol Lawrence during their summer tour. He spent most of 1968 and 1969 as their driver. After the Goulet-Lawrence tour ended in New York City, Eure decided he would not return to high school and stayed in New York. After a few short months of auditions and odd jobs, in 1970 Eure became a cast member at the American Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Connecticut. Hired more for his ability to make the cast and crew laugh than his acting skill, Eure worked with a dialect coach to get rid of his deep Southern accent. During his time in Stratford, he worked with Jane Alexander in The Tempest, and appeared in Mourning Becomes Electra, Merry Wives of Windsor, Twelfth Night, and many original works produced by the company. At the Bucks County Playhouse in Pennsylvania, he performed in West Side Story (portraying "Action" of the Jets) and then joined a musical comedy revue and traveled throughout the East Coast resort area. For many years, he was a fundraiser for the March of Dimes, and has also raised money through telethons and fund-raising campaigns for groups like the Variety Club and the Special Olympics. Eure has been a fundraiser for a number of HIV/AIDS causes, including hosting the LalaPOOLooza HIV/AIDS fundraiser in Palm Springs, California, for many years, the Desert AIDS Project benefit and raising funds and assisting with Project Angel Food, which feeds homebound AIDS patients. My name is Sarah French and I’m an actress based out of Los Angeles, CA. I grew up in a small town in Minnesota. Melrose is a farming city in the middle of Minnesota with a population, at the time I lived there, of about 2,500. We were surrounded by lakes, wildlife, farms, blue-collar hard-working families, and lots and lots of mosquitos! I feel very fortunate to have had grown up in Minnesota. It taught me many core values including work ethic, the value of a dollar, how important relationships are, being friendly and genuine is a good thing but don’t let others walk all over you. I grew up in a single parent household. My mom raised 2 little girls on her own. She taught us the life lessons of hard work and dedication. I also learned about struggle and to appreciate what I have. I wouldn’t change my upbringing for anything, because it’s made me who I am today. I am very strong willed and have always worked hard for what I want in life. Strong work ethic has led me to where I am today. I started acting in 2006 and have been in over 80 feature films, tv shows, and music videos, including starting a production company in 2022 with my wonderful partners Joe Knetter and Marcel Walz called Neon Noir. I say this and I’ll always say this. When you’re on set, give it your all no matter the size of your role or character. Come prepared, have a smile on your face, show up on time, and don’t forget how lucky you are to be doing this in the first place.
