I thought I knew this case well enough so I almost didn't listen. i am glad I did, and glad that someone shares the unpopular opinion and the same skepticism. I have wavered over Terri being guilty. I have always suspected that it could have been someone connected to the school, or someone in proximity to the school or the woods, as likely as it could be Terri. The school makes me suspicious, for the number of mistakes made there that day as well as the lack of surveillance and the proximity to wilderness, and now for the questionable people workinf there. I have come to a low opinion of all Kyron's parents and step parents except the step father, because of their messed up priorities and awful behavior. But I never had heard of just what a Control Freak Cane Horman was. I have thought it possible the cops have wrongly tunnel visioned onto Terri. and after everything else they did right they are at risk of botching this case. But I do not remember ever hearing previously about the cop
obscura did an episode on this little girl so heartbreaking
Horrific case! This is a good example of why we should return to Moses' law for these extreme cases. Moses' law is an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. It was meant to provide just punishment by subjecting the offender to the same treatment he/she gave the victim. Let this monster be raped! Let him be slashed with a knife in his throat. Let's drill some holes in his face. And finally, let's beat him to death with a hammer. Let him suffer exactly what Alianna suffered, and let's not let him be a burden to the tax payers through keeping him alive in prison for years. It won't bring Alianna back, but at least her family will know that justice was served for her horrific death.
at first I was like "now hold on, I don't think the mother can be held as responsible for whatever is coming, as your average adult." and until the middle of this episode I was 100% firmly of the belief that Child Services had more fault than the mom in this case. Um, holy $%^& how wrong I was.
I cannot believe they made a deal with her. I do not see how it was necessary, with the evidence they already had. and if the deal had to take place, she could have been given life with parole eligibility after thirty years or something. she will be serving too little time. she may even be released early from this lenient sentence. I have no doubt she was abused and controlled by that monster. but I do not believe that there was no way for her to get this child into the custody of the father or other family. not one bit do I believe that.
this woman was in her thirties? as a mother and as a woman, and as a human being, I DISOWN her right along with the monster male creature that she chose over the life of a child. I don't know if her previous man, the child's father, is that great of a guy either, but this child's chances of survival were obviously better in his care. she could have thought of her child's survival, but instead she said "over my dead body". Because she preferred her son to be beaten and tortured to death instead.
How heartbreaking for her parents and those who witnessed this horrific attack RIP little Emily xx
AHAHAHAHA @ 27:46!!!
Australia should have the courage and integrity to keep more of these violent monsters incarcerated for life. All of them actually. It should not be some remarkable thing that rarely happens, especially considering the crimes. In spite of an allegedly lower overall crime rate Australia has some bizarre and terrifying crimes and a lot of true psychopaths. So the overall crime rate is lower than ours, that means there should be better rehabilitation for the nonviolent guys and life sentences for the allegedly fewer murderers.
usually this podcast is outstanding. so, it is distressing to hear the narrator include bedwetting as part of her list of signs to look for in an evil person. millions of children have this issue to contend with and there is ridiculous amounts of stigma attached whatever pos decided to include it on whatever official list of signs of an evil person, well their work is outdated and should be reevaluated. whomever unquestioningly repeats this vicious stigmatizing bull$%^& should really check their malicious tendencies. plus, as the narrator points out, we don't know if this monster even was a bedwetter. but he had BEHAVIORAL characteristics that indicated evil, and he certainly was a monster.
Horrific crimes. And insulting defense strategies. Everyone who fought on behalf of this man, using the niceties and nuances of the law, are themselves monsters. They don't fight as hard for the wrongfully convicted or for women who kill their abusers in self defense.
I will never understand why law enforcement did not file charges against Stuart in the early days while they had contact with him. If drug “people “ were out to get him, they would have found him and killed him. Problem solved. Stuart was the disgusting culprit against his own innocent family.
His mother has a severe case of denial. Her son was murdered by the hand of his father. Her son could have been murdered somewhere else besides the house. I can’t understand why in the hell she let her son go with the father unsupervised, after the courts denied him joint custody. My answer would be a resounding NO.
Regularly. & Charmain ?……….Sounds as if there WAS plenty of evidence in 1980 against Stoffer. I do believe they could have won. It never matters if a person has a record or not, they have to begin somewhere. More often than not, that crime is the beginning of the perverts disgusting and pointless acts against innocent children. When will investigators understand this ?
what kinda accent is this? 😒
Michael Lyons was not murdered because he"was too trusting" and "trusted the wrong adult". Michael Lyons was murdered because the Courts "trusted the wrong adult" and gave that man a slap on the wrist and bent over backwards basically to give him every chance to prey on children. Michael Lyons was murdered because there are dangerous men in this world, and their civil liberties are perceived as infinitely more valuable than a child's life.
There is not much you can do for kids that are so inbred. The mental disabilities and disfigurments alone I'm sure were horrific. Imagine them trying to live normal lives. They should all be in institutions honestly.
i love this podcast..i find her voice soothing. This is very serious subject matter and i think her voice works for it....have been binging for days!!
God this woman's stoned/drunk sounding voice is horrendous. Would probably be interesting but, I can't handle the narrator. only made it 10 minutes into one episode.
Just listened to "Invisible Choir" - there was a teaser trailer for "Stolen Lives".... 😑.... I used to think that "Cold Case Files" host Brooke Gittings had the most inept narration style ever but it seems like she's got competition.
