Luke's nativity story compares and contrasts Caesar Augustus with Jesus. While Augustus was associated with sovereignty, glory, gospel, salvation, worship, and divinity … Jesus is all the more! Loyalty is what the Greatest of All Time (G.O.A.T.) king deserves. But what does loyalty look like in the nativity story of Luke? This sermon explains what it means to be loyal to Jesus in an anti-Jesus world!
Come and celebrate the birth of our Savior! Join us to sing beloved carols and reflect on the true meaning of the season with an inspiring devotional message from our Senior Pastor, Jonathan Murphy. There will even be a special moment for kids to gather onstage and hear the Christmas Story. Let's come together on this special evening and rejoice in the hope of Christ’s birth.
Among other things, Luke's nativity story compares and contrasts Caesar Augustus with Jesus. Augustus was at the height of his power and reign when Jesus is born. He was considered the Savior, the Worshipped One (Augustus), and Lord, as in, a son of God. Luke knows very well how Romans—including Roman Christians like Theophilus—would have heard the declaration that Jesus is the true Savior, Christ (Chosen One), and Lord (son of God). Ultimately, the Greatest of All Time kings is Jesus! So, Theophilus, early Christians, and Christians today can stand firm in the faith and loyal to Jesus in an anti-Jesus world!
Join us in the Christmas season as we carefully examine the passages explaining Jesus' birth from the promised birth of John the forerunner to the visit of the Magi from the East. Immerse yourself in the joy of the birth of the promised king.
Rediscover the true wonder of Christmas as our children and students present their annual holiday concert of worship. Through songs and Scriptures, these gifted young musicians will tell the story of salvation, guiding us through the biblical account of humanity’s fall, the promise of a Messiah, and the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Dr. Jonathan Murphy reminds us of the need for a Savior near the 59 minute mark of the concert at 59:23.
Tune in for a beautiful morning of classical Christmas music and beloved carols. Presented by our Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra, this concert of worship will inspire us to praise Christ, our King, and to thank God for sending His only Son to be our Savior. Dr. Jonathan Murphy reminds us of the reason for Christmas near the one hour mark of the concert at 1:01:54.
Christmas is a beautiful time to celebrate the King of kings, who lives and reigns forever. Tune in this Christmas season as we explore the biblical account of Jesus' birth and see that He alone is the Lord and Savior of the world.
Although they were written about 1,000 years before Jesus' birth, the Psalms are filled with the Gospel message. Tune in as Pastor Jonathan Murphy begins a new series that will highlight threads of the Gospel woven throughout the Psalms.
