Is Netflix owning Warner Bros. and HBO the worst possible outcome for movies but the least terrible outcome for TV and streaming? Is there any silver lining on this late stage capitalist nightmare? Will we ever be able to just talk about great shows ever again?? We’ll try our best to answer the first two questions, but then the fun part: We’ll talk through all the upcoming shows highlighted in HBO Max’s 2026 sizzle reel (their biggest year yet, they claim!). Then we’ll raise a glass to some of the greatest TV and miniseries of all time as we each draft seven shows from the storied HBO library and compete to see who can come up with the best all-time lineup. ——— 🔗 Links: David Zaslav Could Become a Billionaire With Warner Bros. We’re back for the fall TV season with the perfect cozy comedy that probably flew under your radar when it premiered last month on Netflix: Each episode of Long Story Short jumps back and forth through time to tell the many stories (both big and small) of one hilarious and relatable Jewish American family. We’ll share some favorite jokes and why we can’t get enough of this fresh adult animation from the creator of another modern animated classic, Bojack Horseman. Plus we’re taking inspiration from the show and diving into our own streaming history with updates on news stories spanning the Streamageddon archives (because everything old is new again in streaming): Is the new season of South Park piloting an anti-binge model for Paramount+? Sesame Street finds a new address (or two) after being kicked to the curb by HBO Max. Speaking of HBO: They’re rebranding their cable channels and Chris would like some credit for predicting these names, okay? Remember Netflix House? No? That’s okay, neither did we. RIP Hulu but also LONG LIVE HULU (don’t worry, we’ll explain). Plus the latest Jimmy Fallon project you’ve never heard of, casting news in one the longest-gestating streaming projects we’ve been following, and a peek behind the Marvel curtain with Kumail Nanjiani. Note: This episode was recorded before Disney suspended (and then re-instated) Jimmy Kimmel. ——— 📺 Review: Long Story Short 🧭 Where to Watch: Netflix 🗓️ Episodes: 10 (All Episodes Available) 🔄 Renewal Status: Renewed for Season 2 🤩 Starring: Paul Reiser, Lisa Edelstein, Ben Feldman, Abbi Jacobson, Max Greenfield, Nicole Byer, Angelique Cabral 🧑🎨 Created By: Raphael Bob-Waksberg (Bojack Horseman) ⚠️ Light Spoiler Warning for first 4 episodes starting at 31:20 ——— 🔗 Links: ‘South Park’ To Continue Skipping Weeks For Stretched-Out Season 27 — & Paramount Is A-OK With That – Dominic Patten, Deadline Classic Sesame Street episodes are coming to YouTube – Jay Peters, The Verge HBO Just Changed the Titles of 6 of Its Linear Channels – Tony Maglio, The Hollywood Reporter Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Password’ Renewed For Season 3 At NBC – Peter White, Deadline Netflix House Opening Dates Revealed for Philadelphia and Dallas Locations – Caitlin Huston, The Hollywood Reporter Hulu App to Be Phased Out; 'Fully Integrating' Into Disney+ – Todd Spangler, Variety Hulu To Become International Tile On Disney+, Replacing Star, As Speculation Swirls About U.S. App’s Stand-Alone Future – Jesse Whittock, Dade Hayes, Deadline Kumail Nanjiani Signed for Six ‘Eternals’ Movies: Marvel Is the 'Next 10 Years' – Andrew McGowan, Variety ——— Subscribe and share at streamageddon.com
The Primetime Emmy Awards are right around the corner, so let’s get excited about the real winners: The (likely) losers! We’re singing the praises of this year’s unsung heroes with a look at the dark horses and snubs (cast of Andor, anyone?) in this year’s Emmys race. And wouldn’t you know it? One of those dark horses happens to be the second half of our FX-themed summer show swap! Say Nothing is nominated for a writing award and it’s easy to see why: It’s a gripping true-history story of women breaking the glass ceiling of the Irish Republican Army during The Troubles filled with sharp dialogue and plenty of gallows humor (or “humour” if you’re feeling vibe). ——— 📺 Review: Say Nothing 🧭 Where to Watch: Hulu (or Disney+ with the Hulu Bundle) 🗓️ Episodes: 9 (All Episodes Available) 🤩 Starring: Lola Petticrew, Hazel Doupe, Maxine Peake, Anthony Boyle, Josh Finan 🧑🎨 Created By: Joshua Zetumer ⚠️ Light Spoiler Warning for first 4 episodes starting at 36:41 ——— 🔗 Links: 2025 Emmy nominations: Big takeaways, snubs, and surprises – Jen Lennon, A.V.
