He started working for his Dad installing fireplaces and doing general construction at the age of 12. He grew up in the mountain area of Big Bear CA and moved to Huntington Beach CA at the age of 16. After a brief spell (a little over a year) in college, Mark (and some others) decided it wasn’t a good fit, and he went back to framing houses. He also sold water softeners door to door and over the phone to supplement his income. Turns out he was pretty good at that. Mark got his license at 26 and started his own company, building houses, apartments, restaurants, and laboratories. Near the end of this phase, Mark owned a Koi Pond business, installing and selling pond equipment. When the recession of 2007-2008 hit, the pond business came to a halt. At that point, with a family to feed and hitting rock bottom financially, Mark went to an investment club meeting that changed his life. He was 46. After the meeting, Mark left and went out and bought (for $100) mobile home and flipped it. After massive ups and downs, Mark and his wife Yuko were able to build a real estate business that owns properties in Southern CA, Northern CA, and Hawaii. They also have flipped over 300 homes, and wholesale several properties a month. Mark is now 58.
