You can follow along on Youtube, where we made a playlist of all 12 (plus another bonus nine videos for the true Round Here fan). https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL90BAueZIRXiIVjw-3Ge1FPRUM80Ul_QE All this, and we give a brief shout out to Adam's Hard-Candy-Era "Mohawk Dreads".
In our final episode covering the Banshee Season Tour, Eric talks about his experiences at the two LA-area shows: Highland on August 30, 2023 https://www.countingcrows.com/show/yaamava-theater-2023 and Inglewood on September 6, 2023 https://www.countingcrows.com/show/youtube-theater-2023 Next, Eric and Chris spend considerable time going over their conclusions on the tour as a whole.  They run down the songs played every night and the songs played only a few times, talk about the resurgence of Charlie's accordion, and, yes, discuss that Taylor Swift cover. Last, the guys use this wrap-up episode to think about their history seeing the Crows.  In doing so, they announce their "Top Songs You Haven't Heard Live but want to (Concert White Whales)" and "Top Song you heard live only once and are dying to hear again".
Enjoy the second hour of our interview with Geoff Harkness, who wrote the book ""Rain King: The Life and Music of Adam Duritz and Counting Crows". https://www.amazon.com/Rain-King-Music-Duritz-Counting/dp/B0C5241RM4 In this hour, we talk about when the band's critics have been wrong (and admit when they may have been right).  We also talk about how relating to the Crows may be different at age 45 (when compared to 25), the band's move to more abstract lyrics, and whether Adam really never cheated on a girl... Geoff also discusses his experience early this summer, when he found out that the band already knew of the book, and Adam already had his copy! Last, we review Geoff's favorite CC concert experience:  the August 27-28, 2001 shows at House of Blues in New Orleans. https://www.countingcrows.com/show/house-of-blues-11 https://www.countingcrows.com/show/house-of-blues-10 _________________________ For bootleg recordings of CC shows go to and register at https://www.crows-town.com/ Email us SullivanStreetPC@protonmail.com
A few months ago, author Geoff Harkness released the book "Rain King: The Life and Music of Adam Duritz and Counting Crows". https://www.amazon.com/Rain-King-Music-Duritz-Counting/dp/B0C5241RM4 We review the book (not-so-spoiler alert:  it's an absolute necessity for CC fans), interview Geoff, and have fun conversations about a number of CC topics.   In this first hour (of two), topics include: Geoff's motivation behind this labor of love, the early/official CC message boards, what kind of fans go to the shows nowadays, the 2000-ish strategy of CD "hidden tracks", the Coke commercial/Pearl Jam "rivalry", how Adam balances his dual-motivations of fame and artistic vision, and whether CC fans really do have the highest IQ.
