When the Holy Ghost is present and in control of our lives, God will see we’re working for Him with our gifts, and not against Him. Which means we're letting God cleanse our hearts, renew our spirits, and that we’re becoming more eager to say to the world, “There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent”. Scripture References: 1 John 2:18–27 (NLT)Acts 12:20–23 (NLT)John 10:22–38 (NLT)Romans 1:18–25 (NLT)Matthew 12:22–37 (NLT)
The Holy Spirit is our “power upgrade” so that we’re capable of accomplishing what God’s will is. And there are two primary things God want’s to accomplish via our Ghost power: 1. Spreading the Good News to those who aren’t a part of the church. 2. Using our spiritual gift to serve others in the church.Scripture References: Luke 24:46–49Ephesians 3:3–111 Corinthians 12:4–112 Timothy 1:6–8aRomans 12:3–13
The Holy Ghost throughout the Old Testament, empowered certain people to do amazing things physically that resulted in violence and death: David, Gideon, and Samson are examples of this. But the truth is, this same kind of deadly Ghost power is still available to us today, but for a different purpose. Not to kill our enemies, but our sin!Scripture References: Hebrews 11:16b (NLT)Hebrews 11:32–34 (NLT)Judges 6:34–35 (NLT)Judges 15:14–15 (NLT)1 Samuel 16:13 (NLT)1 Corinthians 6:9–11 (NLT)Colossians 3:5–10 (NLT)
If the Holy Ghost is the primary indicator that we are saved, a question we should ask ourselves is: Can anyone see sightings of the Holy Ghost in my life? Scripture References: Psalm 51:10–12 (NLT)2 Corinthians 4:6–16 (NLT)Philippians 2:13 (NLT)
Temptations are inevitable, but when they're too strong to bear, Jesus will show us the escape path. However, how many of us are actually looking for Jesus in the midst of temptations? Scrpiture References: 1 Timothy 6:9–11 (NLT)2 Timothy 2:22 (NLT)James 1:12–15 (NLT)1 Corinthians 10:12–13 (NLT)Galatians 5:19–6:3 (NLT)
When Satan whispers, “You have no right to represent God,” remind him—you’re commissioned (2 Corinthians 1:21–22). When Satan whispers, “You don’t know what to say,” remind him—God does (Matthew 10:16–20). And when Satan whispers, “This will get you killed,” remind him—you’re already dead. Scripture References: Ephesians 6:10–18 (NLT)2 Corinthians 1:21–22 (NLT)2 Corinthians 5:15,17–20 (NLT)Matthew 10:16–20 (NLT)2 Timothy 4:3–7 (NLT)
Wearing God’s armor is one thing. Being awesome in God’s armor is a much better thing. But to be awesome, we’re going to need to train and spar and practice. What’re you practicing every day?Scripture References: Proverbs 27:17 (NLT)Hebrews 3:12–15 (NLT)1 Corinthians 9:20–27 (NLT)Matthew 5:11–16; 6:1 (NLT)Luke 9:57–62 (NLT)
Soldiers for God aren’t in it for the personal glory, they are all about God’s glory? But that’s our decision. Meaning, no one is drafted into God’s army against their will, it’s a choice. And choosing to be a soldier for God means choosing to walk the rough road of service to others, by spreading the Good News everywhere. But to do that, we must suit up.Scripture References: Matthew 22:14 (NLT)Ephesians 6:10–18 (NLT)2 Corinthians 6:3–10 (NLT)2 Timothy 2:19–21 (NLT)Matthew 7:13–14 (NLT)
Dad’s and moms, grandpas and grandmas, teachers, coaches, authors, and even pastors are spiritual leaders... Who has been a spiritual leader in your life? What good has come from their lives? Do you follow their example of their faith? And are you a leader for God? Is there anyone out there whose soul is better today because of you?Scripture References: Hebrews 13:7,17–25 (NLT)1 Corinthians 11:1 (NLT)James 3:1 (NLT)Ephesians 4:11–16 (NLT)
Do you have a good relationship with your Heavenly Father? Does He still need to discipline you a lot? Or have you learned what it means to be thankful in all circumstances, and now know how to worship Him with both holy fear and awe? God, our Father, is developing us as children, because He knows the world is watching us, and so is heaven.Scripture References: Hebrews 12:28–29 (NLT)Luke 21:5–13 (NLT)Matthew 5:10–12 (NLT)1 Thessalonians 5:14–18 (NLT)Revelation 15:3b–4 (NLT)
In this chapter, our author provides a picture of what faith is, and then gives numerous examples of the actions of people known for having faith. Therefore, we can assume our author agreed with James, in that faith is useless unless it’s demonstrated through actions…Scripture References: Hebrews 11:13–16 & 39–40 (NLT)2 Peter 3:13–15 (NLT)Colossians 3:1–3 (NLT)Isaiah 65:17–25 (NLT)
If you had everything taken from you, could you accept it with joy? That’s what was happening to many Christians, but they knew there were better things waiting for them that will last forever, so they accepted it with joy. To live like this, we are going to need to be spiritually fruity, but developing fruit takes a bit of work.Scripture References: Hebrews 10:32–39 (NLT)Matthew 10:34–39 (NLT)Luke 14:33 (NLT)Matthew 6:20–21 (NLT)Luke 12:33–34 (NLT)Galatians 5:19–23 (NLT)
If you were to die today, would you be happy with the life you’ve lived so far? And what would all of your life’s work have been for? Would it show that you were eager for the will of God, or for satisfying your sinful nature?Scripture References: Hebrews 9:27–28 (NLT)Luke 23:33–43 (NLT)Luke 16:19–31 (NLT)Romans 5:6–11 (NLT)Philippians 3:17–20 (NLT)
When God stated He would forgive our wickedness and never remember our sins, those are terms associated with the new covenant made by Jesus, not Moses... So a question we should all ask ourselves is, what are the terms of the new covenant when it comes to forgiveness? Scripture References: Hebrews 8:12–13 (NLT)Leviticus 5:5–6 (NLT)James 5:16 (NLT)1 John 1:8–10 (NLT)Psalm 32:3–5 (NLT)Matthew 6:14–15 (NLT)Matthew 12:22–37 (NLT)
Because of who Jesus is and what Jesus did, He is the perfect High Priest. Therefore, we can enjoy a relationship with God filled with boldness! Are you bold? Do you you represent God boldly and do you approach Him boldly? If not, why not?Scripture References | Hebrews 7:28 (NLT)Exodus 16:6–7 (NLT)Exodus 32:1–5 (NLT)1 Samuel 2:27–31 (NLT)Matthew 26:3–4 (NLT)John 18:13–14, 24, 28–32 (NLT)Acts 4:6–20 (NLT)
It is imperative to know the basic teachings of Jesus. For as the author of Hebrews states, those who fail to grasp them are prone to drifting and could even fall away to a point where repentance is no longer possible. As a result, we should not only grasp them, we should be able to teach them to others…Scripture References: Hebrews 6:1–3 (NLT)Acts 20:21 (NLT)2 Peter 3:9 (NLT)Matthew 3:11–12 (NLT)Matthew 3:13–17 (NLT)2 Peter 3:8–15a (NLT)
Childish and impulsive thinking, combined with a lack of self discipline, will keep all of us spiritually immature and dull. However, when we listen carefully to Jesus’ teachings, and prayerfully determine the differences between right and wrong, and then choose to do the right things, that’s what makes us grow to maturity, and much more capable of grasping more than just the basic things.Scripture References: Hebrews 5:11–14 (NLT)Matthew 7:24-27 (NLT)Titus 2:11–14 (NLT)1 Kings 3:7–9 (NLT)Galatians 5:16–17 (NLT)
Gods rest, or heaven, is available to us, but the author of Hebrews warns us that a lack of faith, similar to what the Israelites displayed, will prevent us from ever entering Gods rest. Therefore, all that Christ has done for us as a High Priest will be in vain. Scripture References: Hebrews 4:14–16 (NLT)2 Thessalonians 2:13–15 (NLT)Deuteronomy 11:8–9 (NLT)1 John 3:21–22 (NLT)Colossians 1:19–23 (NLT)
In this third chapter, the author shows how Jesus is supreme over Moses, the greatest leader Israel ever had. Implying Moses was just a prelude, or an example of the kind of leadership Jesus would provide to all Gods people. However, Christians are also compared to the wayward Israelites, implying the consequences of not having faith in Jesus are serious. Therefore, discipleship is essential…Scripture References: Hebrews 3:13–19 (NLT)Acts 2:41–47 (NLT)Romans 12:10–13 (NLT)Colossians 3:12–17 (NLT)Hebrews 3:14 (NLT)
Listening carefully to Jesus’ teaching means, generously supplementing our faith with moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, patient endurance, godliness, brotherly affection, and love for everyone. This is the key to resisting any temptation to drift from God when things are going bad, or when we’re being tested.Scripture References: Hebrews 2:1–18Exodus 15:22–24Exodus 16:1–2Exodus 17:1–21 Peter 1:6–7Hebrews 2:5
