Monday 21, Aug. 2017 Born to Suffer Series: Fellowship Philippians 3:10 – That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; When we think of fellowship with God, we may automatically think of prayer, fasting and having a constant or continuous communication or conversation with God. While these are all true forms of fellowship, it is important to see the type of fellowship that Paul speaks of when he is talking to the Philippian church. Apparently, suffering is fellowship as well. But, when you think about it… it makes perfect sense! Jesus, when He was in His earthly form in Jerusalem, lived a life of hardship, inconvenience, and undeniable pain. Isaiah prophesied of His life describing it as “Stricken, smitten of God and afflicted”. Jesus lived a life filled with hardships and inconveniences. Fast-forward to today, and having received His life, rest assured that in this life, we also will suffer. We will suffer just as Christ suffered: emotionally, physically, and any other way God needs for souls to be saved. Therefore, as mere witnesses to the life of Christ within us, what will our response be to this call? Will we cower away from the hardships that come in this life? Or will we embrace it and go through it as co-laborers with Christ? Christ wants to suffer again in your flesh… will you suffer with Him?
