When Chip Conley was first dubbed a “Modern Elder” by Airbnb’s CEO Brian Chesky, he hated it. Our collective impression of being an “elder” is an association to being old, and he didn’t want to be branded as the old guy. But Chip reclaimed and is helping change the way we all view aging.  He embraced his role as an elder to his mentees. In this episode, Chip shares his thoughts on what being a “Modern Elder” means and the power of collaborating with the younger generation. He also talks about environmental mastery and how he has embraced a servant leader role towards his much younger mentees. Vicky Lowell of Empowered Worth shares thoughts on women's financial planning, planning for cohabitation, marriage, cohabitation, and the financial impact of divorce on women. In 2018, UBS Financial Service published a report which shows that millennial women abdicate their money more than the previous generation. To Vicky Lowell, this problem is merely a symptom of a prevailing narrative... that men are better than women when it comes to financial matters. Vicky also talks about the importance of transparency between couples when it comes to finances and how your financial situation can affect your relationship in the long run.   Sponsor: Life Legacies because your loved ones’ stories matter!   Connect with Lisa on Instagram or LinkedIn or at LisaBL.com Follow the Super Power U Podcast on Facebook   “Financial infidelity hurts more than if you were to go find a one-night stand.” - Vicky   Connect with Vicky on LinkedIn, Empowered Worth (site), EW Facebook, EW Instagram, EW Twitter, and EW YouTube.   See Full Show Notes

I've been thinking a lot recently about Shame and about the next stage of our Shelter in Place experience now that we are in the second month of the current Shelter in Place rulings. At the same time some states are lifting the restrictions and many people are protesting the bans.  As is so often the case, when human being feel afraid we get reactive and either fight or flee.    In my conversation with Sunne Justice, David Sauvage and Josh Whiton we talked about the connection between Shame and Fear, Compassion, then Love.  But ultimately I think it might be about surrender, too.    This came about because last week, I asked my friends what topics they thought I should create content. Sunne Justice, suggested that I write about the most Shameful think I've ever done, that lead to me changing my life forever.  The woman doesn't pull any punches.    So we got together the next day to talk about shame.  I thought I'd share that conversation with you.
Bend, not break. That’s Jacki Rigoni’s philosophy!  Our guest today is a writer and poet who knows that hardship is the road to healing and that all pain offers rich rewards no matter how tough it is to go through. Jacki shares her Heroine’s journey and the knowledge that we can thrive not in spite of the challenges we face but because of them.  Yes, the road can be rough — full of doubts, worries, sorrows — a roller coaster of emotions but it is the Unexpected Life Wallops that challenge us and grow us most.   Sponsor: Life Legacies because your loved ones’ stories matter!   Connect with Lisa on Instagram or LinkedIn or at LisaBL.com Follow the Super Power U Podcast on Facebook   ”Part of the struggle is when we try to resist emotions.
