What if your results in business, relationships, health, and money were not about luck or talent at all? What if they were simply a reflection of the standards you have set for yourself, often without even realising it?In this episode, we talk about the quiet, unconscious benchmarks that shape every decision you make and every result you get. I share why raising your standards can feel strange or even unsafe at first, how they can erode without you noticing, and why even small, gentle upgrades can completely change your life.We explore practical ways to start shifting your standards now, even if you are in a challenging season, so that the wins you create are not just one-offs but become your new normal. If you have ever wondered why you keep slipping back after a big achievement, or how to break free from patterns that feel stuck, this is a conversation you will want to hear.Mentioned:1:1 NLP Breakthrough CoachingThe Fierce Salon: For those consistently making over $10k/month and ready to scale.Links:Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/Instagram: @hayleycarr.tvFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/hayleycarr.tvLinkedin: https://au.linkedin.com/in/hayley-carr-international
You know that client who seems stuck no matter what you try? Who says they want change, but resists every invitation to actually do the thing?Sometimes… that client is us.This one’s a little spicy, a little sobering, and a whole lot clarifying. Because if you’re in the business of helping others grow, you need to be honest about your own coachability too.And if you’re holding space for someone who’s starting to feel impossible to coach, you’ll want to hear this. This episode is a compassionate deep-dive into:The two flavours of resistance that show up with uncoachable clients (and which one is sneakier)The patterns we all fall into when we say we want change… but don’t reallyHow to spot uncoachability before it turns into resentmentWhat to do when you’re the one hitting a wall (and how to get back into integrity without spiraling)This isn’t about shame. It’s about responsibility. It’s about owning our resistance with curiosity, not judgement—and learning how to move through it, instead of dressing it up as strategy or mindset.Whether you’re feeling stuck in your own journey, or working with a client who just won’t budge—this one’s here to clear the fog and bring you back to centre. You’re not wrong. You’re just resistant. And resistance? That’s just a breadcrumb on the way to breakthrough.Mentioned:Bloom Business Incubator: A mastermind for those building to their first $5–10k months as a coach or service provider. The Fierce Salon: For those consistently making over $10k/month and ready to scale.Links:Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/Instagram: @hayleycarr.tvFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/hayleycarr.tvLinkedin: https://au.linkedin.com/in/hayley-carr-international
G'day my loves – I'm recording this one from a very rainy, very cozy lounge room, with a fire crackling, some soothing music in the background, and the river quite literally creeping up to my window. So today's episode has big cozy, calm, candle-lit vibes. But we’re talking about something so many of us grapple with, clarity, especially when we’re trying to make big decisions or navigate uncertainty. Here’s the truth:Clarity doesn’t come from thinking harder or trying harder. It comes when we stop pushing and start softening. In this quick episode, I’m sharing:Why overthinking actually creates more confusionHow to shift out of “mental gymnastics” mode and into embodied knowingMy 4 go-to powerful practices to help you access real clarityMy favorite questions to ask when I feel foggy or indecisiveWhy strategy should support your intuition – not replace itWhether you’re in a season of transition, stuck in your head, or just deeply tired of trying to figure it all out, this episode is here to help you exhale, soften, and start creating the space for the answer to arrive.Let this be your gentle reminder: You are not broken. You’re just human. And the clarity you’re craving? It’s already on its way.Mentioned: ✨ Be Your Own Coach - NLP Immersive Training – Enrolment is open nowLinks:Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/Instagram: @hayleycarr.tvFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/hayleycarr.tvLinkedin: https://au.linkedin.com/in/hayley-carr-international
You don’t have to be burned out to be stuck.Sometimes “stuck” looks like being wildly capable… but quietly dissatisfied. You’re busy. Booked. On paper, things are working. But underneath? Something’s off. This episode is a loving call-out for creatives, high performers, leaders and business owners who feel like they’re doing all the things, and still not getting what they came for. We're unpacking the sneaky, subtle ways high-functioning people stay stuck, the real cost of staying there, and what to do instead (without blowing everything up). This isn’t about hustle or shame. It’s about catching the drift before it becomes a landslide. We cover:The difference between burnout and high-functioning stucknessWhy staying in “almost good enough” situations is so exhaustingThe 14 most common stuck patterns (real examples for creatives, high performers, coaches + business owners)What these patterns are actually costing you (energy, joy, money, clarity)What to do instead — gently, sustainably, and with integrityWhether you’re constantly refining, people-pleasing, overcommitting, hiding from visibility, or building a business that doesn’t quite feel like you — this episode is your permission slip to pause, reframe, and make a new choice. You’re not broken. You don’t need another planner.Or a better routine.Or more motivation. What you might need is to rethink how you define discipline and why your strategies keep falling apart. This episode unpacks the real reason so many smart, ambitious people fall off track. And no, it’s not because you’re lazy, disorganised or uncommitted. We cover:Why motivation is unreliable and what to rely on insteadHow structure can feel supportive rather than restrictiveThe identity shift that makes habits stickWhat sustainable discipline actually looks like when you're building a business and a lifeThis is not about forcing yourself to follow someone else’s system. It’s about designing a rhythm that matches your energy, values and season of life.If you’ve ever thought “I just can’t seem to stick with it” and you’re ready for a different way forward, one that feels aligned, realistic and actually works.. this episode is for you.Mentioned: ✨ Be Your Own Coach - NLP Immersive Training – Enrolment is open nowLinks:Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/Instagram: @hayleycarr.tvFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/hayleycarr.tvLinkedin: https://au.linkedin.com/in/hayley-carr-international
If you’ve been doing all the “right” things but it still feels sticky, off, or oddly lonely, this one’s for you. You’re not broken. You’re not behind. You’re not missing anything. You’re just crossing a threshold most people don’t talk about. You're on your way to becoming exceptional. If 2025 feels like a full-blown shitstorm of noise, fear, and "WTF is even happening right now?" this episode is for you.Whether you're running a business, leading a team, raising kids, or just trying to be a decent human in a very loud world... this is your reminder: you don’t need to shout to be remembered. You need to be trusted.Right now, people are more cautious than ever. Not just with money, but with energy, attention, and trust. We’re tired. And in a world where AI is automating everything and everyone is busy broadcasting, real connection has become the most powerful and rare currency there is.You don’t need to be the loudest person online, or have the fanciest funnel, or churn out content like a machine. You need to be someone people feel safe referring. Someone who actually listens. Who leaves others better than they found them. Who knows how to hold space, even when no one is watching. In this episode, I’m sharing why reputation is everything right now, and what it takes to be the kind of person people talk about in rooms you’re not in, in a good way. I’ll take you behind the scenes of a story that changed how I think about trust in business, and why the skills I teach inside Be Your Own Coach are more essential now than ever. This isn’t about hype. G’day, friends! In this episode, I’m sharing a new approach to sales and enrollment for coaches and service providers—one rooted in trust, transparency, and integrity.Inspired by a sales training I couldn’t even finish, I reflect on the outdated, high-pressure tactics we’re so often taught and how they clash with the personal, transformative work we do. Instead, I explore how to create meaningful connections with potential clients, from empowering them to make their own decisions to being honest when coaching isn’t the right fit.Sales doesn’t have to feel “salesy.” It’s about building relationships, not closing deals. And when we lean into generosity, empathy, and ethical practices, the results are better for everyone.I’m also creating a short course on effortless client creation that dives deeper into these ideas. If you've ever had a huge dream but felt completely stuck because you have no idea how to get there—this episode is for you. I’ve been there too, and today we’re talking about how to get unstuck and move forward, even when the next step feels totally unclear. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that it's not about having the perfect plan. It’s about trusting the process, even when the path feels foggy. Sometimes, you’re not meant to know all the steps ahead. You just need to focus on one small step at a time and let the rest unfold.I also dive into how important it is to make sure the advice you’re following aligns with your values. Not everyone will get your vision, and that’s okay—but don’t let their doubts cloud your path. And yes, fear will come up, but not all fear is bad! In this episode, we break down the different kinds of fear and how to tell if it’s guiding you forward or holding you back. And lastly, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by pressure to make things happen fast, it’s okay to give yourself more space. Sometimes slowing down actually brings more clarity—and things start moving even faster when you do.Trust me, you’re closer than you think.Free Resources:Business Housekeeping Checklist: Simplify your operations to focus on what truly matters.Good to Great Guide: A free course on playing bigger and feeling better in your business. My Masterminds:The Bloom Business Incubator: A mastermind designed for those looking to balance personal growth with professional success. The Fierce Salon: A high-level mastermind for ambitious women ready to redefine the way they work and live.Links:Submit your Question for the Podcast here Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/
If you’re empathic, introverted, intuitive, or highly sensitive, you might feel like the typical business advice just doesn’t fit. Hustle culture glorifies burnout, always being "on," and chasing metrics, but that constant push can be toxic—especially for us.Here’s the truth: You don’t need to hustle harder to succeed. You can thrive in business without sacrificing your well-being.Signs You’re “Girlbossing” Too Hard:Burnout masked as productivity – You’re getting things done, but it’s draining you.Struggling with visibility – Showing up feels overwhelming.Perfectionism – Nothing feels “good enough.”The Downside of Hustle Culture:The rise of the "girlboss" movement originally empowered women to take control of their careers, but over time, it glorified overwork and individual success. It left many feeling isolated, burnt out, and disconnected from their own goals. For sensitive entrepreneurs, there’s a more sustainable path. Focus on slow business—an approach that aligns with your values and prioritizes well-being as much as success. Set clear boundaries, redefine success, and embrace imperfection.Ready to ditch the hustle and build a business that supports you? Let's slow down and create success on your own terms.Check out my Fierce Salon or Bloom Business Incubator in the links below for aligned, sustainable growth.Until next time, slow down, stay curious, and remember: everything you want is closer than you think.Free Resources:Business Housekeeping Checklist: Simplify your operations to focus on what truly matters.Good to Great Guide: A free course on playing bigger and feeling better in your business.

Mastermind groups and coaching programs are a growing trend in the business world, but are they truly worth the investment of your time, energy, and money? This article unpacks how to decide if a mastermind group is the right fit for you, the unique benefits these groups offer, and the red flags to watch out for when evaluating one.Hayley Carr, with over 14 years in the coaching industry and 9 years running mastermind groups, breaks down the essentials. She shares her own experiences—both positive and negative—and offers insight into how to ensure a mastermind or group coaching program will align with your goals.Key Points:Define "Worth It" for Yourself: It’s crucial to know what you need from a mastermind group before you commit. Whether it's personal growth, business strategy, or peer support, clarifying your goals helps set expectations.Benefits of Mastermind Groups: Masterminds provide accountability, diverse perspectives, community, faster business growth, and holistic personal development. Being surrounded by like-minded, driven individuals can spark new ideas and accelerate your progress.Red Flags: Not every mastermind is the right fit. Ask yourself if the group’s focus aligns with your values, and whether the coach’s style complements your needs. If you feel pressured or your values don’t align, it might not be the best investment. When It’s Not the Right Time: Timing is everything. Joining a mastermind when you’re unable to dedicate the mental and emotional energy might make it feel like an added burden rather than an opportunity for growth.Free Resources:Business Housekeeping Checklist: Simplify your operations to focus on what truly matters.Good to Great Guide: A free course on playing bigger and feeling better in your business.

Life inevitably throws unexpected curveballs, like grief, illness and family emergencies. So how do you keep your business afloat while honouring what matters most—taking time to grieve, heal and be with loved ones? This episode comes from a place close to my heart as I share with you my personal experiences and provide practical advice for how to keep your head above water.Recognising Life's ImpactThe first thing is we need to recognise the impact of life events. So often we set goals with this idea that, because we’ve set the goal or signed up for this mentorship or just started our business now, nothing is allowed to go wrong. And that's just not how life works. We actually have to live as though the unexpected emergencies are guaranteed. They might not always come as big tragedies - even little things can really disrupt the flow of what to do.Self Compassion and Setting BoundariesThe next part of addressing setbacks involves having self-compassion and setting priorities and boundaries. During tough times, it's crucial to be compassionate with yourself. Self-compassion helps regulate emotions, improve decision-making and reduce stress and anxiety. Once you've practised self-compassion, it's vital to reassess and set priorities. It's okay to push some tasks to the side or reschedule them to ensure you have time for what truly matters.Practical Strategies and Support SystemsPractical strategies are key to keeping your business running during personal crises. This includes automating tasks, utilising technology, delegating to virtual assistants and communicating transparently with clients about any potential delays. It's also helpful to explore business models and schedules that offer flexibility. Leaning on support systems is equally critical. Whether it's friends, family, professional networks, or a therapist, having a support system in place can provide the help you need to navigate tough times. Remember, be gentle with yourself. Don't set goals or plans with this undercurrent of not being able to afford for this to go wrong. Instead, set your sights on creating achievement with space for life to do its thing, knowing you have tools in place to support you.If you have any thoughts or questions about this episode, I’d love to hear from you. When you’re going for big dreams, it can be hard to not feel completely crushed when things don’t go according to plan. How can you be more carefree when things shift and change, instead of it feeling like the end of the world? This idea of being more carefree is something that I’ve been speaking about with a number of my clients recently and it just so happens to be a listener question as well. Before launching into any tips and strategies, I feel like an important aspect of this discussion is to clarify what being carefree means. To me, it’s about being present, enjoying the process, and not overly stressing about the outcome. This mindset is crucial for high performance and your overall sense of wellbeing, no matter what the thing is that you’re pursuing. The pressure I felt to maintain success after winning a world competition in martial arts was huge. But, it taught me a valuable lesson: When we're too focused on the result, the journey becomes unenjoyable and stressful. How to Be More Carefree: Ten Practical Tips1. Love on Yourself Really HardPractice self-compassion, self-love, and positive self-talk. Being kind to yourself during setbacks is crucial for maintaining a healthy mindset.2. Shift Your PerspectiveQuestion your beliefs about your challenges. Is it the ultimate truth? Often, a change in perspective can make obstacles seem much more manageable.3. Develop and Keep a Growth MindsetSee every experience as a learning opportunity. Celebrate your efforts and progress, and never compare yourself to others—only to your past self.4. Stay PresentFocus on the now. Worrying about the future or dwelling on the past takes you out of the present moment where life actually happens.5. Pace YourselfSet realistic milestones. Although it might seem counterintuitive when you’re aiming high, lowering your expectations in the short term can help you achieve great things over time without overwhelming yourself.6. Build ResilienceDevelop coping mechanisms for stress and have a comeback strategy for when things go off track. This helps you recover quickly and keep moving forward.7. Practice GratitudeFocus on what's working rather than what's not. Cultivating gratitude will keep you motivated and positive and is generally an amazing practise to have in your everyday life.8. Visualise Your SuccessYour brain can’t tell the difference between imagining something and it actually happening. Visualise your goals as if they've already happened to build the neural pathways for success.9. Pleasure Over PressurePursue activities that bring you joy. Finding pleasure in the journey decreases the pressure on achieving the end result. Again this one might seem counterintuitive but as you do things that light you up, you’ll naturally lean into success and joy in other areas of your life, including those big goals.10. Create a Supportive EnvironmentSurround yourself with positive, encouraging people and limit your exposure to negative influences as best you can. It can be really helpful to have a professional coach, mentor or therapist in your corner to help prioritise your mental health. Embracing a carefree attitude doesn’t mean you don’t care—it means you’re more focused on the present moment than on a specific outcome. The ironic thing is that this mindset can make you more attractive to achieving your goals because you're not weighed down by desperation or stress.I’d love to hear which of these tips resonates with you the most. Remember, everything you want is closer than you think. Stay curious and stay open.LINKS:Download my Self Coaching Guide hereSubmit your Question for the Podcast hereJoin the waitlist for my Masterminds hereWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/
On the road to pursuing big goals, there will be times when you feel ready to go to the next level but for some reason, you meet resistance. Even though you’re doing everything you know you should be doing, something is holding you back. The reason for this resistance often lies deep within our subconscious. There's this thing called secondary gain, which is essentially an unnoticed benefit of staying right where you are. While logically, we want to grow and achieve more, our subconscious wants us to stay where we are.Your subconscious mind is designed to keep you safe. It’s there to make sure that everything you do each day can be done without thinking about it. It controls the majority of what happens in your body, your mind, your heart, your actions, your feelings, your thoughts and your beliefs. But that can work for you and against you. Tap into your IntuitionWhere we need to start is excavating at the subconscious level to look at what is in the way between where you are now and where you want to be. This is where it’s really important to understand the difference between fear and intuition. Fear will always be loud and scary, but intuition will be constant. In my opinion, the best way to tap into your intuition is by getting into your body. Movement, being in nature, noticing where you feel certain thoughts in your body. Make this a regular practice so you can make a distinction between the voice of fear and the voice of your intuition. Pinpoint the Secondary GainTake some time to think about what benefits you might be getting from staying stuck. They might not be obvious right away but ask yourself questions like: What am I afraid will happen if I actually reach my goal?Is there a downside to achieving this goal that I’m not acknowledging? What am I protecting myself from by not moving forward?Once you have an idea of what’s going on, work on flipping those subconscious beliefs around. Create new, positive beliefs that match up with what you consciously want. Instead of "I might fail if I succeed," think, "Each effort I make brings me closer to success, even if I stumble along the way." Change "I will lose something important if I grow," to "Growth opens up new opportunities and can enhance what I value most."Visualise a Safe SuccessYour subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between you visualising something and it actually happening. Professional athletes use visualisation every day because they understand this. Practice visualising achieving your goal and it going as well as possible. Feel the emotions that go along with that and make sure it’s a positive experience. Teach your body how it feels and that this is normal because when you can teach your brain and body where to go, it will naturally flow there. AffirmationA lot of people try using affirmations to progress forward but they’re going too far that it doesn’t feel achievable. The key to affirmation is to pick a better feeling thought. Instead of claiming these big bold statements that are a world away from your current reality, choose something just one level away. Mindfulness and Presence When you're in the process of working towards a huge goal, it can feel like everything is urgent. Stop a moment and ask yourself, “What’s important right now?”. Do the one thing that will move everything forward and make every other task irrelevant.I find the best way to stay connected to the presence is through meditation. It creates space in your mind so you can pause and think before you do something out of a knee-jerk reaction. Calm, Consistent ActionTeeny tiny movements towards what it is that you want will bring you a feeling of success and like you're on purpose. By taking small consistent actions towards your goals, it reinforces the fact that you have focused on what's important and affirms to you that you deserve what it is that you're working towards. If you’ve decided that you want to go to the next level, your action is the thing that cements your decision.Get Support and AccountabilitySometimes an outside perspective is just what we need. Working with a coach or a trusted friend can provide the support and accountability you need to work through subconscious resistance. Self ReflectionI do a weekly review as a way to check in with my goals and what's happened in the last week. This self reflection practice is a great tool to discover what you’ve learned, where your resistance is, what’s holding you back and what you might be avoiding. Remember, everything you want is available to you in some version of reality and it's available right now. You just need to remove the resistance between where you are now and where you want to be.LINKS:Download my Self Coaching Guide hereSubmit your Question for the Podcast hereJoin the waitlist for my Masterminds hereWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/
Last week I talked about getting good at failure and how real failure is only when you give up entirely. But I don’t think that conversation would be complete without talking about the fact that sometimes it is necessary and even beneficial to quit. Knowing whether it’s time to let go of something is a topic that comes up quite regularly in my coaching, especially for people who are pursuing seemingly impossible or drawn-out goals. It’s not uncommon to arrive at the question: "Is it worth continuing?" There’s a thing called the sunk cost bias, and it can trick us into staying committed to ventures that no longer serve us, just because we've invested so much into them already. Whether in relationships, businesses, or personal pursuits, recognising when to walk away is really important. The caveat here is that only you can really know when it’s time to quit and when it’s time to persevere. Signs It Might Be Time to Quit (or at least change something)Persistent UnhappinessIf you're consistently feeling unhappy, stressed, or unfulfilled despite your efforts to improve the situation, it might be time for a change.Loss of Passion or ExcitementA significant decline in enthusiasm and energy for your venture could signal it’s time to re-evaluate.Negative Impact on HealthYour body doesn’t lie. If your health is deteriorating due to ongoing stress or exhaustion, your body is trying to tell you something. Get out in nature, connect back in with your body and listen. It might surprise you what you hear.Toxic or Abusive EnvironmentWhen you're in a consistently toxic or abusive situation, walking away is often the best option. For me personally, there isn’t even a question around this one.Lack of Growth or AdvancementIf there’s no room for growth or opportunities for advancement, you might have reached the end of the road.Misalignment with ValuesWhen the venture no longer aligns with your core values, it might be an indicator to move on.Persistent Gut Feeling to QuitYour intuition is powerful. If your gut is persistently urging you to quit, it’s worth taking seriously. Think about the last time you quit something and felt good about it. What made you realise it was the right choice? Reflecting on past decisions can provide you with clarity on the dilemmas you’re currently facing. Signs it Might be Worth PerseveringTemporary SetbacksThere’s a difference between a temporary setback and a permanent problem. Cash flow issues, tech problems, or health setbacks can often feel overwhelming but they might only be temporary hurdles.Ongoing ProgressIf you’re still making progress and seeing improvements, albeit small, it could be worth persevering. Progress is progress, and you might be just around the corner from an encouraging amount of growth. Passion and PurposeOver the 16 years of running my business, there have been hard times when I have seriously questioned whether I should keep going. In those times, I always came back to my passion and purpose. If you still feel a strong sense of passion and purpose in what you’re doing, it’s worth pushing through difficult times.Supportive EnvironmentA solid support system can make a huge difference in your persistence. Whether it’s a mentor, a group of friends or a networking community, they can help normalise the challenges you’re facing and encourage you to keep going.Positive FeedbackDuring the times I’ve felt like throwing in the towel, I would receive random positive feedback about the work I was doing. Good feedback, even a little bit, can be a strong motivator to keep going.Continuous Learning and GrowthIf what you have been pursuing still offers growth and learning opportunities, it might be worth persevering.Reflect on past challenges you’ve overcome and how you felt during that time. They might have felt insurmountable at the time, but perhaps those situations can be an encouragement to keep going.Deciding whether to quit or persevere is complex and nuanced. While persistence can pay off, sometimes quitting is the bravest and most productive decision you can make. Remember, the goal is to learn how to coach yourself, tune into your own needs and make choices that align with your long-term well-being and goals.Everything you desire might be just a step away, whether it’s quitting or persevering. Only you can know the right answer.LINKS:Join the waitlist for my Masterminds hereWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/
The fear of failure is the underlying topic beneath every conversation I have with my clients. No matter who you are, what you’ve achieved and what success you’re striving for, nobody is immune to the fear of failure. We all face it. The solution then isn’t so much about ridding yourself of the fear. It’s about getting comfortable with being uncomfortable because the fear will never not be there.A fear of failure can come up at any stage of the performance spectrum. Maybe you even fear admitting what you really want because of the possibility of being ridiculed or people thinking your goals are unrealistic. People often claim they don't know what they want, but it's usually to avoid the difficult process of pursuing it.Admitting what you wantAdmitting your goals is just the first step. Then comes taking action, which brings its own set of fears. You might worry about looking stupid or being disappointed. These thoughts can be paralysing. And then there's the fear of success - what if achieving your goal changes your life in ways you're not prepared for?The Illusion of FearThe fear of failure is insidious and ubiquitous. Yet, on the other side of that fear lies total freedom. When you truly see “failure” for what it is, an incredible learning experience, the rest of your experience becomes a playground. The concept of failure becomes irrelevant once you realise your fear of failure is a total illusion. Taking ActionThis is where it’s so important to reframe your thinking around failure. Instead of letting the possibility of failure stop you from trying in the first place, think of any action you take as an opportunity to grow and get closer to your goal. Sure, you risk not getting what you want straight away, but that's just the price of entry for any worthwhile pursuit.Being comfortable with DiscomfortSuccessful people aren't immune to fear; they've just learned to be comfortable with discomfort. And so can you. You build comfort with discomfort by continuously putting yourself in situations where you risk failure and learning from each experience.Once you admit what you want and start taking action, despite the risks, the mere act of pursuing what you love will feel like success. The fear of failure is just a mental barrier. Once you begin, you realise the journey itself can be fulfilling.LINKS:Join the waitlist for my Masterminds hereWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/
