Stockholm

Stockholm
Stockholm is Sweden's capital and has a population of two million. It is the biggest city and the country's cultural, medial, economical and political center. Stockholm is also considered as The capital of Scandinavia.
Stockholm is built on fourteen islands. It rises graciously from water that's so clean you can fish or swim in the heart of the city.
Stockholm is also famous for its incredible boat life. There are many different boats and ferries that for example travel out to our own archipelago, "Stockholms Skärgård."
Stockholms Skärgård consists of between thirty and thirty-five thousand islands. There is a lot of beautiful scenery and wildlife on these islands. There is a lot of tourism from both Swedish and international tourists.
According to tradition, it is said that Stockholm was founded by Birger Jarl i the beginning of the thirteenth century. He built a fort to protect Stockholm and other important cities from enemy invasions. By the 1500s it was almost impossible to penetrate the walls into central Stockholm.
Around the 1600s Stockholm expanded greatly because of King Gustav Vasas's ascension to the throne. Between 1610 and 1680 the population was six times greater than before.
In the medieval times, a large amount of garbage was disposed to coastal regions. Because of this Stockholm grew on trash, gravel, and rocks. This means that today Stockholm is built on trash from the medieval times. Even thought it sounds like Stockholm is an unclean city, that is far from true. Stockholm is knows as a incredibly beautiful and clean city. In, 2010 Stockholm was granted the European Green Capital Award.
If you ever have the opportunity, please come visit our beautiful city.

Liseberg
Bland utländska artiser finns Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys och The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

Liseberg Park
Liseberg Amusement Park is a theme park in Gothenburg, Sweden. It dates all the way back to 1923 and is one of the most popular theme parks in all of Scandinavia. About three million people visit the park each year, and at 260 acres, it is the largest amusement park in the region. Forbes magazine even listed it among the top ten theme parks in the world in 2005.
If you decide to visit the park, keep in mind that it is open only during the summer and November and December. There are fewer rides during the Christmas season, although there is an incredible Christmas market open during this time. If you go to the park for the market, you'll have the chance to sample some Swedish delicacies like reindeer and mulled wine.
In all, the park boasts thirty-four different rides and attractions. The park also holds the Rondo, a large dance hall, and a hotel. Visitors will also be entranced by the remarkable gardens there, most notably Liseberg's Lustgard, their newest garden attraction. If you love anything to do with celebrities, you'll also enjoy seeing Honor Place, which is a collection of large impressions of the hands of celebrities. There are so many impressions there that they no longer have room to display all of them, so the celebrities whose impressions appear at any given time will change as they rotate through.
There is also a plethora of musical entertainment to take in at Liseberg Park. In the past, big names in the Swedish music industry like ABBA, Birgit Nilsson, and Zarah Leander have performed there. Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience are also counted among the list of well-known artists who have performed there.
