Description
This is the podcast where a brother and sister discuss two of their favorite things: Taylor Swift and cocktails! Every episode we'll feature a Taylor Swift song, we each pair it with a cocktail inspired by that song, and then we breakdown every musical mixology moment. At the end of every episode, one of the sibs announces which song they've chosen for the next episode. The cocktails help to fuel the discussion, so make one for yourself and join us!

Four days after the album came out, we decided to meet up and record our thoughts on how the album had been sitting with us. Spoiler alert: Our opinions are quite different! But we listen and we don't judge, right? Also, it just needs to be said, the four-day-in listening experience is very likely to change, so stay tuned for continued changing opinions and updates as our podcast progresses in this new era. The Life of a Showgirl is here!!! This was our first time recording a live reaction to an album and sharing it with you. It was chaotic and thrilling and we hope you feel the same giddiness with us as you did when you first heard the album. Sam dealt with some internet issues on his end, so unfortunately we didn't capture our reaction to "Cancelled!," but all the other OMG moments of this album were certainly covered. Now that our reactions are out, our next episode will be us sitting down and sharing our overall thoughts after a few days have passed with the album. We are so excited to be in this new era and look forward to sharing our thoughts!Share with us your thoughts on today's episode by sending an email to swiftandswigspodcast@gmail.com.Leave us a written review on the Apple Podcasts app!Follow and rate our podcast on Spotify! Naturally we're a bit unhinged in this episode because we truly don't have a clue what this album is going to sound or feel like. We're just going off vibes and hopes at this point, and it's so much fun! We could be completely off base which will only be cause for laughter once the album finally arrives. Either way, we are thrilled, excited, elated, overwhelmed, nervous, ALL THE THINGS! We can't help but think about when Taylor wrote this song. Rachel believes Taylor wrote it from a perspective of a healed wound, but Sam wonders if she wrote this out of pure sadness in the moment of utter disappointment. Either way, we're so relieved to know she's out of the funk and we're grateful for this beautful song that brings all the feels. We simply cannot seem to get over our excitement for Taylor and Travis' engagement! So to start things off this week, we discuss what we think the wedding will look like, where and when it will be held, who will be there, and whether or not Taylor will take The Life of a Showgirl on Tour. So much to find out, and the unknown is absolutely part of the fun! Our song this week is one of those Lover songs where you can tell Taylor was really masking the anxiety and sadness she might have been feeling about her relationship with overly energetic and boppy lyrics and production. But we waste no time in getting to the root of it all. And aren't we glad that she finally found someone to marry, and with a GIANT shiny thing on her finger at that?! It's a new soundtrack and we can DEFINITELY dance to this beat.....CONGRATS TAYLOR AND TRAVIS! We sat down to record this episode just moments after the news broke of their engagement. As you can imagine, chaos ensues! There is so much to discuss with Taylor Swift these days, and although we are disctracted by the epic news, we focus on the opening track of 1989. A song that Sam is not fond of, but one that Rachel really enjoys. The freedom that Taylor feels in this song is quite contagious. But we can’t help but wonder….is 2025 Taylor just as giddy about NYC now as she was when she first moved there back in 2014? This episode was recorded before the Tayvis news! Hear our reactions in next week's episode! Until then, Rachel begins by sharing more thoughts on the New Heights podcast and the insights that gave us into Taylor's trajectory. And Sam shares some VERY EXCITING NEWS about his life! We dip into Taylor's sadness with the song of the week. However, there is hope to be found throughout this song that Sam considers to be one of his absolute favorites of all time.Share with us your thoughts on today's episode by sending an email to swiftandswigspodcast@gmail.com.Leave us a written review on the Apple Podcasts app!Follow and rate our podcast on Spotify! We begin this episode with a thorough discussion about The Life of a Showgirl and what we are expecting moving forward. Will there be a lead single? And if so, which song would Taylor choose? Lots more to discuss on the upcoming TS12, so send us your thoughts so we can share them on air!Sam has been wanting to discuss "Question...?" since as long as we started this podcast. We discuss how in this song, Taylor is quite sassy, sarcastic, and perhaps a little bit angry. Naturally we're curious over who the song might be about, and we think we've come to a few conclusions. At the end, it seems that there are more questions...? than there are answers....but that's okay!Share with us your thoughts on today's episode by sending an email to swiftandswigspodcast@gmail.com.Leave us a written review on the Apple Podcasts app!Follow and rate our podcast on Spotify! Okay, so we recorded this episode on Monday, August 11, 2025. Mere HOURS before we received the official announcement about TS12, The Life of a Showgirl. What that means is you get to hear us freak out over the possibilities of a potential album release. What made this episode EXTRA fun, was midway through recording we learned a countdown had been placed on Taylor's website. Naturally, chaos ensued. It's great to be back after our summer break! Suburban Legends is a bit of a head scratcher for us, but nevertheless we persisted with the breakdown and the cocktail pairing of it all. Obviously we will have LOTS more thoughts on TLOAS in the coming weeks, and we are so thrilled for the ride ahead.Let us know your thoughts! 12 exclamation marks just isn't enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We present to you a very chaotic, unplanned, and unedited episode of our podcast. Obviously Taylor has MOVED and we have a new album on the way! But Sam was too busy to catch what was going on. So Rachel gets to reveal to him all that Taylor revealed on the New Heights podcast. Track listings and all! There is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much to discuss in the coming weeks and episodes, but these are our initial thoughts in this moment. Please weigh in on your theories, expectations, etc. MAX MARTIN AND SHELLBACK!?!?! Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOO!Let us know your thoughts! It's time to break down and pair cocktails to the title track of one of our favorite albums of all time....THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT!!! We start by discussing what it is that Taylor Nation is up to with these *count up* posts lately. Probably nothing...but still something to get excited about! Our new shit has Rachel introducing a totally new artist to the both of us! Sam also brings a new artist along, and Rachel is giggling the whole way through. Now for the song. Wow! So many thoughts! We deem The Tortured Poets Department an overall positive song, a refresher on this album. But self-aware Taylor throws some shade at the subject of this song. And we are left to wonder, when was this song written and for whom was it written.Let us know your thoughts! The time has finally come for us to discuss one of Sam's favorite songs, and a song that Rachel has been curious by since its release almost five years ago. We don the cowboy hats and the swindling charm for this one! But first, Rachel does a live on-air taste-testing of Squashies, Taylor Swift's supposed favorite candy. What's the consensus? Tune in to find out! Rachel really surprised Sam by choosing Justin Bieber as her new shit this week. And Sam surprised Rachel by not choosing Justin Bieber, despite his unashamed love for that artist!Cowboy Like Me tells a deeply intriguing story about two con artists that fall in love. Rachel brings a really interesting perspective that had us both wondering about the true inspiration behind this evermore track. You'll have to let us know your thoughts! There's also a poll connected to this (if you're listening on Spotify), so be sure to answer that as well!Check out our "new shit" playlist on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5LOn9LRJ8lnvnCbpl6fKVG?si=68ca3032d3aa470bShare with us your thoughts on today's episode by sending an email to swiftandswigspodcast@gmail.com.Leave us a written review on the Apple Podcasts app!Follow and rate our podcast on Spotify!
We are FINALLY breaking down and pairing cocktails to Taylor Swift's FIRST EVER SONG ever released. This song, unlike a few others that we've discussed off the debut album, is quite meaningful and full of poignant lyrics. Its choice to be Taylor's first ever lead single was interesting, but also quite brilliant. Surprise surprise….we BOTH chose Tim McGraw (the actual artist, not the song. Confusing, we know) as our “new shit” this week. It’s classic country and sometimes that’s cringey to Sam, but he’s pretty undeniably catchy as well.Check out our "new shit" playlist on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5LOn9LRJ8lnvnCbpl6fKVG?si=68ca3032d3aa470bShare with us your thoughts on today's episode by sending an email to swiftandswigspodcast@gmail.com.Leave us a written review on the Apple Podcasts app!Follow and rate our podcast on Spotify!
Happy fourth of July from your fellow Americans! And in honor of this momentuous occasion, we have chosen one truly all-American Taylor Swift song to pair cocktails to and discuss. Boy do we love a good ol' sappy Taylor Swift love song! But So High School is way more than sappy love, it's reminiscent of a time we've all experienced, or maybe some who are currently experiencing: teenage giddiness! Taylor certainly shows that giddiness on this lovely track, whose sound we are absolutely loving and craving more of! We simply can't get enough of this song, even though Sam sometimes feels a little queesy over Tayvis and their showy relationship. For our Spotify listeners, take the poll to let us know which line of the song is better!Check out our "new shit" playlist on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5LOn9LRJ8lnvnCbpl6fKVG?si=68ca3032d3aa470bShare with us your thoughts on today's episode by sending an email to swiftandswigspodcast@gmail.com.Leave us a written review on the Apple Podcasts app!Follow and rate our podcast on Spotify!
Yes, we did see that Taylor Swift literally performed Shake It Off at a bar in Nashiville this week!!! Why is she so obsessed with us?! In all seriousness though......wait a minute, this episode is meant to be fun! Who's talking about being serious? Just do as Taylor does and SHAKE IT OFF! We were so thrilled to FINALLY break down one of Taylor Swift's most famous songs. Let's be honest, this is one of the WORLD'S most famous songs! And yet, we both chose to make cocktails with vegetables in it?! Who are we? One thing is for certain, though this song has never been our favorite, like always, we can come around to appreciating a Taylor song for the impact that it has. Also, let's just have some fun! Shake It Off is definitely a fun song. Happy Pride Month, Swiggies! We are celebrating by breaking down Taylor Swift's single from June 2019 preceding the Lover album. There is lots of lore behind this song, and our cocktails were a blast to sip on while we broke it all down. Just a reminder that anyone of all beliefs, orientations, ethnicities, and cultural backgrounds are welcome on our podcast. We had some techincal issues with our audio this week! Sorry for the lesser quality, but hopefully you forgive us. After all, we're only 119 episodes in to this podcast, so we're still working out the kinks....right? Do you believe us know? Or are you oh so quiet? We found this song to be absolutely worthy of an episode, especially following Taylor Swift's purchasing of her masters last week. Let us know what we missed in our breakdown of "Cassandra" by getting in touch with us below:Check out our "new shit" playlist on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5LOn9LRJ8lnvnCbpl6fKVG?si=68ca3032d3aa470bShare with us your thoughts on today's episode by sending an email to swiftandswigspodcast@gmail.com.Leave us a written review on the Apple Podcasts app!Follow and rate our podcast on Spotify!
In today's episode, we celebrate Taylor Swift and her purchasing of her masters!!! Buckle in, because we spend the entire first half of the episode discussing this historical moment in musical history. Naturally, we were shocked and almost let down when we first discovered she may not be recoriding Reputation (Taylor's Version), but the more we understood and discussed, the happier we became for Taylor. We couldn't be more proud of her! Speaking of Reputation, it's been well over a year since we discussed a song off this iconic album...until now! This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things, Taylor!Check out our "new shit" playlist on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5LOn9LRJ8lnvnCbpl6fKVG?si=68ca3032d3aa470bSam's 2025 summer playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1xeIAemKsnBJ5EiX90P2Ky?si=aba8155488804e7dShare with us your thoughts on today's episode by sending an email to swiftandswigspodcast@gmail.com.Leave us a written review on the Apple Podcasts app!Follow and rate our podcast on Spotify!
We came, we clowned, we acheived nothing. But baby Sam and Rachel had no idea what would come of the 2025 AMA's by the time of recording this episode, so they're filled with excitement and theories. We're back to our clowning as we approach the American Music Awards that Taylor's team has been leaving lots of clues for us to pay attention to. We've also got an (almost) new Reputation Taylor's Version song to react to! But first, Rachel wants to know how Sam's music festival went, so Sam shares the highlights of his time becoming an indie rocker for a weekend. He's also many degrees closer to Taylor Swift after his experience meeting a few iconic musicians! Our New Shit songs had us both excited about the heartfelt moments that musicians choose to share with us in their songwriting. Speaking of heartfelt, Sam chose the song this week and it's an age-old classic story of love. And surprisingly to both of us, the song Timeless contains no drama, no doubt, and no anxiety. It's a bit cheesy at times but overall romantic and special, especially considering Sam received this song at his Eras Tour concert back in July 2023.
