Spooky SwirlTalk 2023

In this episode, we get a little spooky with it!!! My boo-tactular co-host is one of the bestest friends I have. She is the first-wife in my world Robin Stevenson Haggitt. This was her first time on a pod-cast, but it certainly won't be her last. Our guest this time is the country girl who hangs out in cemeteries, the hauntingly beautiful Sheena Barnett. We get the get down on where to go if you want to meet a ghost. We also learn about her kitty-tastic relationship with 2 of the original stars of that Beverly Hills show. Finally, we talk about her uncle, a donkey, and great balls of fire. Goodness, gracious!!! It is a funny episode. So give it a listen and as always let us know what you think!!!

Showing Our Sass: Police Brutality Against Black Bodies

‼️Watch before the episode‼️ 👉 https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRtRsyMB/ While we love to laugh, it’s important that we use our platform to discuss suffering in marginalized communities. We face another tough topic today - police brutality specifically against Black folx. Swirl Talk 901 is going multimedia as we watch, listen to, and discuss the video in the link below that one of our listeners (and Queen of our focus group) suggested for an episode of our show. In this video we see a young man in a life threatening situation with the police and a community that steps in to form a united front, deescalating the situation.   Join us as we dive into this sensitive subject, and remember that if there’s ever a topic that you’d like to hear us talk about - hit us up! ‼️Watch before the episode‼️ 👉 https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRtRsyMB/

Meet SAY Yang

Patrick and Alex talk to the incredible author and human being, SAY Yang! SAY is an engaging speaker on creativity, diversity, and storytelling. Their journey to coming out as non-binary and Queer in their late 30s is nothing short of captivating and inspiring. They’ve delivered talks to global audiences at Grace Hopper Celebration, Cisco, Oracle, Lesbians Who Tech, and Women Who Code. SAY lives in Oakland, California and loves drumming, karaoke, and performing standup comedy. In their own words... “I love that my pronouns are both singular and plural because it reminds me every time I hear it that I am never alone. The Divine is with me wherever I go, whoever I’m with, whatever I do. I appreciate the constant reminder. And, just like Mattie (the main character in my book, The Spineless Porcupine), I now find myself in the wilderness, rediscovering who I truly am and finding community there. I hope you’ll join me on the journey of reclaiming our true selves. The best gift we can give this world is to unapologetically be ourselves and to inhabit the fullness of who we are. See you in the wilderness…”
