This episode features an overview of the 5 yamas, which are moral precepts first laid out in the RigVeda thousands of years ago. Then we turn our gaze to the first yama - Ahimsa - which is about non-harming and the various ways we can think about this concept.

In this episode Alan shares very simple meditation techniques that you can use to start your practice.Krama Breath: Inhale in three parts (i.e. inhale, pause, inhale, pause, inhale, pause) and then exhale all the way. Try to make the length of the exhale the sum total of the inhale.Apa Japa: Make the inhale and exhale smooth and even, watch the breath, and bring the mind back to the breath when it wanders. Enjoy!
