I have committed a great deal of time and energy to comparing and contrasting the teachings of Ernest Holmes with the principles and practices of other spiritual disciplines. This work has carried me deeply into an exploration of Native American shamanism and simultaneously into academic endeavors, studying cultural diversity, chaos theory and organizational psychology. As a result, I returned to my academic pursuits and in 1996 I received my doctoral degree in organizational psychology from the Union Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio. I continue working with Cherokee and Lakota medicine people and have enjoyed exploring subjects of diversity and gender relations as an associate professor at the University of North Carolina as well as through my work at the Center for Spiritual Living in Asheville, North Carolina. During the course of my graduate studies, the ecumenical organization, Churches Uniting in Global Mission and its founder, Dr. Robert Schuller, recruited me to lead a social action program known as Peacemakers. As national program director, I traveled across the U.S. helping faith communities find new ways to become more directly involved in eliminating and healing the ravages of youth violence in their cities and neighborhoods. Today, the central focus of my life is serving with my wife Barbara as co-minister of our Science of Mind spiritual community, the Center for Spiritual Living. Barbara and I founded the Center in our home in January 1995. Providing clear guidance and strong, yet flexible leadership to individuals and organizations is what my life is about. I bring these skills and abilities along with a passion for the full expression of all ideas and possibilities to every endeavor in which I embark.

One of my greatest passions is to reach out and touch the hearts and lives of people who are seeking to find a better way of living. I hold myself up as a woman of power who has overcome significant obstacles to create a full and meaningful life. And with confidence, I tell all who care to know that they can do the same for themselves. I was born the youngest in a family of four children in Miami, Florida. Growing up with minimal resources and an alcoholic father, I quickly developed a strong sense of independence and self-reliance. My early life was marked with drug and alcohol abuse, poverty, welfare and myriad other struggles. Today, the central focus of my life is serving with my husband, John Waterhouse, as co-minister of the Center for Spiritual Living in Asheville, North Carolina, a Science of Mind spiritual community. My life is about sharing with everyone I meet that the ability to be successful and joyously happy dwells within us. I offer my life as an example of this truth. Dr. Peggy has been given numerous awards for her work in service to women and interfaith causes. Dr. Steve Gabrielson is the co-founder and co-pastor with his wife, Lynn, of the Center for Spiritual Living in Lake Forest,California(OrangeCounty). Steve and Lynn together began to study Science of Mind in 1992, and co-founded the center in 1999 after graduating from ministerial training in 1998. Steve was ordained in 2004, and joined the International Centers for Spiritual Living (ICSL) Board of Directors that same year, where he currently serves as First Vice President. James Mellon is the Spiritual Leader of the NoHo Arts Center for New Thought, a Center for Spiritual Living, in North Hollywood, California. An Emerson Theological Institute graduate, Michele Whittington is the Senior Minister at Creative Living Fellowship, a Religious Science church and teaching center in Phoenix, Arizona.   Rev. Michele graduated from Arizona State University, summa cum laude, in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communication. For two years, she worked as the Sponsor Developer for a transitional housing program for homeless, low-income families recruiting and training volunteers as well as raising $250,000 in annual sponsorships. In 1992, she was invited to the Board of Trustees of First Church of Religious Science and, in 1993, she served as President of that Board. From 2001 – 2003, she served as a member, and then as the Vice President, of the Affiliated New Thought Network. Tom Stone is an expert in the development of new techniques for resolving trauma and anxiety. Rev Moira Foxe on “INTERFAITH” to be joined by Cantor Ilan Davidson and Milia Islam Mujeed Rev Moira’s background is in Education, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Ethics, Morality and Clinical Theology. Her graduate and post-graduate works were done at Maria Assumpta College of Education, St. Mary’s College of Education, London University, and the London Guild of Health. During the past 30 years, Rev Moira has taught psychology and religious studies to high school students in Ireland, England, and Los Angeles. Her work in education progressed into the counseling and ministerial fields. Throughout her life, Reverend Moira has pursued a wide variety of studies and is ever seeking to broaden her learning base. She believes that the education of the whole person is the most wonderful and fascinating pursuit we could actively engage in, and is indeed our life’s purpose. She served for seven years as Sister Miriam in a teaching order of Catholic nuns in Ireland and England. She went on to serve for seven years in the Siddha Yoga Foundation in London and Los Angeles with Baba Muktananda as her teacher. For the past ten years, Rev Moira has been the Pastor & Director of the Redondo Beach Center for Spiritual Living, Church of Religious Science. Since taking over as Senior Minister, she has been the recipient of the prestigious South Bay Woman of the Year award and has spearheaded her center’s emergence into the 21st century by championing streaming videos on the website as well as podcasting the Sunday lessons. Rev. Moira has a radio and TV Ministry. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the International Centers for Spiritual Living. Her church’s mission statement is: Honoring Presence, Nurturing Spirit, Enriching the Lives of All We Serve. She also serves on the South Bay Interfaith Council. Redondo Beach Church of Religious Science hosts a very successful interfaith Peace through Unity Breakfast every year during the Season for Non-Violence.

Rev. John M. McLean, accepted the invitation to be Director of the Center for Spiritual Living – Los Angeles in June 2010. He had previously served ministries in Nashville, Tennessee and Bellevue, Washington since his ordination in 2003. He began his spiritual journey with Dr. David Walker at this very center, then called Los Angeles Church of Religious Science. He was first licensed as a practitioner under Dr. Walker and also served on the Board of Trustees. His New Thought study expanded when he moved to New York City and experienced the late Eric Butterworth. He is deeply honored to be back at CSL-LA where he will continue his work as teacher and speaker, aiming to encourage all who are seeking a better experience of life through understanding and applying our wonderful Truth teaching. Rev. McLean has spent all of his prior work-life involved in the creative arts. Immediately after graduation from college, he was on staff at the National Endowment for the Arts, Washington, DC. After moving to Southern California, he worked in the television industry as a staff producer on a prime-time television series and later as a network, prime-time programming executive. Just prior to ministerial studies, he returned to the art-field, this time the local level, where he was involved in all areas of community outreach and programming for a large museum and performing arts center in rural Wisconsin. He earned a BA in Art History from George Washington University, Washington, DC and an MA in Creation Spirituality from Naropa University/University of Creation Spirituality, Oakland, California. He was ordained in June 2003 after completing the Ministerial Education Program at Unity School, Unity Village, Missouri and is also a Licensed Religious Science Minister.
