TOPPS Baseball Cards Were My Homeboys

Sitting in my room obsessively collecting TOPPS Baseball Cards just so I could taste the stale hard piece of gum when I finished looking through the pack to find my favorite baseball players. They became more than just cards, they became my friends, my homeboys. I will choose one of those players every episode and share about their careers. Taking fans of the national pastime back to their past and remember some of those greats and not-so-great players. From benchwarmers to Hall of Famers. Enjoy a trip to your baseball past. MIKE PIAZZA: 1992-2007 - Dodgers, Marlins, Mets, Padres, Athletics

Most baseball players dream of hitting home runs like in the movie the Natural. Today's athlete Mike Piazza delivered one of the most iconic home runs in MLB history. JULIO FRANCO: 1982-2007 - Phillies, Indians, Rangers, White Sox, Brewers, Devil Rays, Mets, Braves

Julio Franco was also the oldest player ever to hit a grand slam  a pinch -hit home run, two home runs in one game, and to steal two bases in a game. On April 26, 2006, Franco became the second-oldest man in MLB history to steal a base, behind only Arlie Latham, who accomplished the feat in a token appearance at age 49 with the New York Giants in 1909. On July 29, 2006, against the Atlanta Braves, Franco became the oldest player ever to pinch run, when he came in for Carlos Delgado after Delgado was hit by a pitch. MIKE MORGAN: 1978-2002 - A'S, YANKEES, BLUE JAYS, ORIOLES, MARINERS, DODGERS, CUBS, CARDINALS, REDS, TWINS, RANGERS, DIAMONDBACKS

Mike Morgan played for 25 years. He is one of only 29 players to have played for four decades. He played for 12 teams in his career. FRANK THOMAS: 1990-2008 Chicago White Sox, Oakland A's and Toronto Blue Jays

Error cards were a big thing in collecting as a kid.  And this was the first error card I ever had possession at one time. And he became one of my favorite players. JOHN OLERUD: 1989-2006 Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets and Seattle Mariners

Most people only know John Olerud because he wore a helmet on the field instead of a baseball cap. He was a slick defensive first baseman that hit very well everywhere we went.
