Our heroes’ respite at Bramblethorne manor is cut short by the arrival of Clarice, one of Lola’s younger sisters. As a cleric and special agent of Diligence, her presence brings great tension to the group, as they are harboring a stolen angel, the strange child Rosaline, and a member of the Hinin, Argus. Chosh, having reconnected with Diligence, is ordered to execute their prisoner, Argus, without further questions. Unsatisfied by this, Chosh intends to seek answers another way, by making use of the faith that Clarice is carrying. But questions still abound. Where did she come from, where did she get the faith, who is chasing her, and what has driven a wedge between the Lockhart sisters? Let’s find out.
