Buffy stops the werewolf hunter from killing wolf Oz, who Willow dispatches with a tranquilizer. The Judge is recovering his full powers, and Spike’s impatient to get with the killing. Angel and Buffy did the deed, and it turns out the sex was so good that the curse that put his soul in place was broken. Angel rises from the ground as Angelus, and his first act is to kill his first human victim in over 100 years. The news about the Judge is not good - at full power, he can kill with just a glance. Angelus rejoins Spike and Drusilla but pledges to dispatch Buffy, doing so by breaking up with her in the cruelest way possible and by threatening her friends.Fully recovered, the Judge makes to commit mass murder at the local mall. The episode starts with Buffy having a horrible nightmare where an empowered Drusilla stakes Angel before wishing Buffy a happy birthday. Buffy and Angel have a preschool makeout the next day where Angel comforts and reassures Buffy, and they share with each other that their feelings are intensifying. At school, Willow asks Oz to go on a date with her to Buffy’s surprise party at the Bronze the next night. Jenny is visited by her mysterious uncle, who warns Jenny to keep Buffy away from Angel. Dru and Spike are assembling an indestructible demon called the Judge, but Buffy manages to steal one of his arms, thus preventing his full assembly, and in the process, crashes her own party, quite literally. Jenny suggests that Angel take the arm to the other side of the world, but he and Buffy are ambushed by Spike's hench-vamps, and the Judge is re-awakened. The Judge has the power to kill with a single touch and almost kills Buffy, but she and Angel make an escape. They emerge out of the sewer and into the rain, running to Angel’s apartment for shelter. Buffy changing into dry clothes not-so-surprisingly turns into professions of love and then the usual making out, falling out of screen, and one of them waking up after. On a mom-sponsored shopping trip to the mall, Buffy’s errand to pick up clothes from the tailor is interrupted by Lyle Gorch, one of two vampire brothers from the Wild Wild West. Buffy and Lyle fight, but he gets away, cryptically saying, “this ain’t over.” The next day in school, Xander and Cordelia continue to keep their relationship secret - at least out loud *suspicious side-eye*. During a sex education class, students are given raw eggs to look after as an exercise in responsibility and parenthood. Because this is Sunnydale, the eggs are not chicken spawn but contain mind-possessing face-hugger creatures taking over the school.Xander avoids being possessed by the simple expedient of boiling his egg to make it easier to look after. Buffy is attacked by her egg late at night but kills it with a pair of scissors. The rest of the gang, including Willow and Cordelia, are possessed and knock out Buffy and Xander, stuffing them in a utility closet. When Buffy and Xander wake up, they learn that there is a giant Bezoar demon under the school, which is laying the eggs. Buffy and Xander fight their way into the chamber where the Bezoar lives, but the Gorch brothers also arrive and fight some of the possessed. The egg-laying demon eats the younger Gorch brother, and Buffy is sucked in, but she soon emerges covered in blood. Buffy returns from a night out with Xander and Willow to find Joyce kissing a man called Ted. Ted is charm personified and bakes superbly, impressing everyone but Buffy. Buffy recognizes she may be biased against men her mom is dating, but something about Ted feels off to Buffy. Ted and Joyce take the gang mini-golfing, and Ted and Buffy have an unpleasant confrontation over the rules of that great sport. Cordy and Xander continue to smooch in school broom closets illicitly. Buffy decides to spy on Ted, but he finds out. Ted is waiting for Buffy when she climbs through her window after sneaking out for a patrol. Ted has gone through Buffy’s things, he threatens her, and during their argument, Ted hits Buffy. She lets loose and kicks him down the stairs, where he lands and breaks his neck. The police question Buffy, and even though no charges are brought, Buffy feels like even more of an outcast at school, made even worse by investigators speaking with Buffy’s teachers. Giles saves Jenny's life while patrolling, and some trust is re-established. When Ted mysteriously shows back up at the Summers’ residence, and after Willow, Xander, and Cordy do some snooping, we learn that Ted is actually a homicidal robot who has been drugging people around him with his delicious cooking. Ted attempts to kidnap Joyce but is defeated by a skillet-toting Buffy.
