Description

Tails from The Dark Dragons Inn is a long-form, serialised, high-fantasy, improv fiction podcast driven at its core by tabletop role-play. Released weekly every Sunday at 10:30AM BST.

Hosted and Game Mastered by Ray Stevens, accompanied by his players, Tom (Erbak), Liz (Tobe), Vinny (Mhurren) and Nina (Myx), with occasional guest appearances, he invites you into a world both familiar and strange, these adventures take place in a home-brew alternate version of the Forgotten Realms.

The core cast of Tails from The Dark Dragons Inn features a diverse group of players who've come together from across the country to tell the shared tale of “The Scales of Justice”, a band of heroes (though some would call them mercenaries).

Our story is told through improv and tabletop role-play, however, for the purposes of the show, much of the mechanical aspects of this are removed, cutting the fuss and leaving the story and character interactions behind.

What starts as a simple 'muscle for hire' job, brings the party together to aid a city under siege and the civilians within. A cult, known only as the Cult of the Dragon, seek to unleash Chaos in the world and as our heroes learn of their plans, the race is on to put a stop to their ambition. In classic high-fantasy fashion, the overarching problem of the plot is seemingly almost insurmountable in scale and by extension, each character is dealing with their own personal goals and issues which we develop throughout the show.

You can find out more about the characters, the world and what's going on through our website https://tailsfromthedarkdragonsinn.co.uk. If you have any questions, feedback or suggestions for the show; please feel free to contact us on twitter @DarkDragonsInn

Hello travellers, and welcome to Tails from the dark dragons inn. Our show, is a long form, episodic, high fantasy, improv-fiction, audio drama podcast, driven by the medium of tabletop roleplaying games. But this is not an actual play. Our show is edited to remove almost all elements of actual gameplay, except in rare circumstances, you'll hear no dice rolls, discussions of damage points and absolutely never mechanics or rules. Also no table talk. Our show, is as focused as possible on the interactions between characters and the stories we tell together. Updates on the future of the show and the release of the next episode
Unfortunately, health has taken its toll on productivity this year. I could potentially keep pushing to try and get episodes edited in time for release, but truthfully, I don't think I can manage it right now. For those of you enjoying and looking forward to the latest updates on Myx, Scraw, Mhurren, Tobe, Erbak and The Doomsingers adventures, I'm sorry to keep you waiting. We're aiming to be back in July, to give me enough time to get back on my feet. Much love to all of you
Surprise! We're releasing our inaugural episode a week early to celebrate the new year! Starting Sunday 7th with the release of episode 2, you can expect to find a new episode airing every Sunday, each week for the foreseeable future. This is Episode 1; Meet our heroes and join them on their first outing into the world together.
Linaan, the brave dwarven mother leads the party through the city of Greenest in an attempt to get her family to safety by whatever means necessary. Why is the city under attack and who are its assailants? Does one of the party know more than they are willing to reveal?
Our heroes have arrived! A captive in hand, they seek answers to the nature and cause of the attack on Greenest. A mysterious stranger joins the group but are they friend or foe?
With their new, unpredictable gnomish friend in tow, the party ventures forth armed with knowledge and an urgent quest. Thanks so much to everyone who has listened to the podcast so far! We'd love to hear from you; hit us up on twitter and let us know what you think! If you leave us a review on itunes, we'll even give you a shout out on the next episode!
The titular heroes have set forth from Greenest Keep and make their way to the chapel of Chauntea, where they have been told a number of townsfolk have taken shelter. There's not a minute to waste! The chapel is under siege and the people inside are running out of time Thankyou, so much for your continued support. Our audience is growing at a much quicker rate than we anticipated and it warms our hearts to see a good number of you coming back each week. The arc in the defense of Greenest is more than half way through already and i'm looking forward to sharing more with you. This week, why not take the opportunity to share the show with a friend or loved one who might enjoy a new audio-drama to follow? You can find us on Facebook as well as twitter and tumblr and of course on our website http://tftddi.co.uk for more information or just to reach out and let us know how you think we're doing. As ever, you can find us on itunes and anywhere good podcasts can be found. Until next time, Listeners!
As our heroes embrace the peace and quiet of the Goddess Chauntea, letting her cleric's healing light bathe them in warmth, we step back to let them enjoy this moment of respite. But as with all storms; the eye is passing and peace is about to be broken Shoutouts this week go to Rob, Dice Paper Role, bunny_boops, Tahina, and Myzrable_G Thanks so much for your support guys! This week we're offering the chance for you to appear in name form as an NPC in future episodes! Simply retweet this week's episode in a quote tweet, tag #TailsfromtheDarkDragonsInn and tell us what you love about the show! As ever, anyone who reviews and rates our show will receive a personal thankyou on the air <3
Having survived their encounter with Lennithon and just barely holding off an encroaching force, our heroes take stock of events as they have unfolded. What lies ahead on this unexpected path? No competition this week! Last week, we guaranteed a future NPC slot to those who retweeted and told us what they think of the show and for those of you who did, we can't wait to see your characters show up! We're pushing hard for itunes reviews this week. Let us know what you like, let us know what you love! Hell, let us know what we can improve so you love us more. We'll be listening!
The party has done much to demonstrate their martial prowess over the last twenty four hours and there are few in Greenest who doubt their capability but with people having been torn from their homes and the town having been stripped of its wealth, The scales of Justice can not yet rest. This week we got our first Itunes review and honestly, putting my feelings about that into words is a real struggle. I got pretty gosh darn emotional reading this. It's great to see that people are having as much fun with the show as we are producing it. As reviews are geolocked, I'm going to leave a copy for you all here! Welcome to the Inn (5 Star Review) by discocyst From the start, we are greeted by our DM/Host/Publican and are made to feel nothing if not welcome. Like old regulars in a local pub, or indeed, an inn. You sit down to listen to another of the owners tales. The strength of this podcast lies squarely in its characters. Both fleshed out and well played, they feel like real people who have been together for a while. There is a real sense of familiarity among the group as they have all gotten to know one another. Of the characters, a particular favourite is Scraw, the bugbear barbarian with an almost limitless enthusiasm for battle. While it is often easy to play such a character as one dimensional, Scraw still has subtleties that make him feel more than just a character. Complimenting the characters is the story. A story told well and with the addition of some sound effects to help bring it to life. So thanks again Discocyst and thanks to Jeremy, a follower of ours on twitter! for this tweet; https://twitter.com/jrmydklnhns/status/964584136693501952 Seeing this really put a smile on my face. Stay in touch guys!
A cultist camp, none too hidden. Prisoners and secrets waiting to be revealed. Our heroes, the Scales of Justice secretly invade the heart of the enemy army to learn what they are able. A preface; this episode suffers badly from misconfigured audio and my attempts to fix it. But the good news is, starting next Sunday, all those issues are behind us and we're releasing a new episode mid-week to make up for it. Look forward to it! Look out for a brief preview from our friends over at Seasons of Skyrend Our latest review on itunes! By Ben(Bapperson) of Hoof and Sword fame. 5 star review! You can tell the folks on this podcast are having fun, even as they focus on story and edit out content like dice-rolling. Be aware that, like many podcasts, their first episodes are rougher in audio quality but I can assure you they quickly improve. Even when there's a hiccup in a newer episode, it's edited to minimize any issues - I can be picky about audio quality for actual play's and this is one I'm happy to continue listening to. Try it out, learn about the interesting characters and see where the story leads!
The Scales of Justice find themselves under the bright, hot lights of a quiet auditorium. Will the power of the stage reveal all? What of the past of group? How did the Scales of Justice come to be? Trapped by the Helping Hands company, our heroes are compelled to tell their tale. For the first time, we're releasing a new episode mid-week this week! This episode will cover the events from episodes one through nine of our main show as an indirect retelling of events from the eyes of our characters and provide the perfect stepping stone to join in with the rest of our listeners and continue on with our story as it releases, without having to deal with some of our early audio issues. That said, there's still plenty of details not included! So feel free to go back and listen to our early episodes as you please! As ever, thankyou so much to our continued listeners. I hope that the future episodes and improved audio server as a reward for sticking with us thus far.
With a cadre of escaped prisoners, our heroes make their way across the plains back to Greenest. What awaits them upon their return? The first of our continued story, improved quality audio episodes airs today. I'm excited to share it with you! We get up to a lot of nonsense.
Having made it safely back to Greenest with lost friends and a traumatised, barely conscious Leosin Erlanthar, the party works to occupy their time until communication is possible. Will he have the answers they seek? Time will tell. This week has been very exciting! Not only did we receive another 5 star itunes review but the show received it's first ever fan art! The talented Raan whose name you may recognise from our recent recap episode has dedicated some time to demonstrating their favourite scenes from their favourite episode (6!) I can not express in words how much we adore these pieces. We are absolutely over the moon to be inspiring people to create things and the day we received them, not a single one of us stopped smiling. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did! Why not head over to their twitter and show some love Both images reposted with permission from their creator https://twitter.com/faunenby
Leosin Erlanthar is awake! Who is he really and what does he know about the cult of the dragon worshippers? What is his connection to our monk? This week has been a wild ride, hasn't it? If you'd like a cool place to hang out and chat with some of the cast, we've recently started a Discord server! It's not widely being promoted (and in fact, this is the first place you'll hear about it! Very exclusive stuff) so it's quiet but that means you'll almost certainly be able to reach us ;] https://discord.gg/WfJ7PQW We'd be thrilled to have you
