Due to the extremely positive feedback we received over at "The Once and Future Nerd," we decided to release our first episode early on our own channel!  March 6th, our original release date, will now be the release of our second episode.  If you are new to the podcast: welcome!  If you are coming from "TOAFN," this may sound a bit familiar, but you'll now get new content two weeks earlier than intended.  Enjoy! You can find "Taking Initiative" at: Website: takinginitiativepodcast.com Twitter: @TI_Pod Discord: https://discord.gg/VS7F3Hd Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/takinginitiativepodcast YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCwWvHLXdUS2G3RE7CRr71w   Music credits for this episode: "Come Play with Me", "Spacial Winds", "Unnatural Situation," and "Vanishing" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ All mentions to Dungeons and Dragons (D&D), including the 5e ruleset, "Curse of Strahd," and its encompassed adventure "Death House," refer to the property owned by Wizards of the Coast (WOTC).  We do not own the rules or module.  We just enjoy playing!
We rejoin the party as they explore the interior of the Death House.  One thing is for certain: the players are getting restless.  Things are tense: Nick is flipping out, Bucky and Drew are touching literally everything, and Josh is enjoying putting everyone through the anxiety ringer.  Episode 03 will be out on March 20th.  Enjoy! Kent finally got his wish.  Ok, maybe not his wish, but his anticipation and anxiety led him to the third floor, where the party immediately found themselves in the worst possible situation: surrounded by dust!  Oh, and there is something trying to kill them.  That, too.  Episode 04 will be out on April 3rd.  Enjoy! You can find "Taking Initiative" at: Website: takinginitiativepodcast.com Twitter: @TI_Pod Patreon: patreon.com/takinginitiative Discord: https://discord.gg/VS7F3Hd Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/takinginitiativepodcast YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCwWvHLXdUS2G3RE7CRr71w   Music credits for this episode: "Ghostpocalypse - 1 Departure," "Long Note Two," Measured Paces," and "Vanishing" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ All mentions to Dungeons and Dragons (D&D), including the 5e ruleset, "Curse of Strahd," and its encompassed adventure "Death House," refer to the property owned by Wizards of the Coast (WOTC).  We do not own the rules or module.  We just enjoy playing!
Kent's not feeling too hot.  After going through that ordeal, who can blame him?  Nonetheless, our heroes...are they heroes?  They haven't really done much heroism yet...Arcene and her group of people carry on through the house, where they cross paths with a newcomer.  How am I DMing this group of misfits?  Now I know how Adam Notmylastname feels.  Remember to tune back in on April 17th for episode 05.  Enjoy! Feel free to drop us a review on iTunes and cast Message to us over social media.  It's only a cantrip.  We'd love to hear from you! Alright, where were we?  Creepy house. Kent went through some hard times.  He's sleepy sleepy.  Punched the new party member...right.  Laying some dead kids to rest.  This environment is euphoric, isn't it?  Kind, gentle, comfy, cozy.  Ahhhh.  Vacation spot 5/5, would rent again.  Hehe, Rent...you'll see.  Remember to tune back in on May 1st for episode 06.  Enjoy! Aw, dem kids are cute.  Dead, but cute.  Our group of goofs take the kids on a field trip and traverse into the depths of the Death House, discovering that the basement has a similar feel to the top floors of the house: it hurts.  Can our heroes (?) make it out alive?  Or is this the unwarranted dark D&D sequel to the movie "Monster House?"  Remember that movie?  That was a thing.  Also, I don't even think that comparison makes sense.  Meh.  Remember to tune back in on May 15th for episode 07.  Enjoy! Ahhhhhh, after a nice long rest, the party is back on their feet and ready for action.  Oh, what's this?  It seems Kent is resuming consciousness.  For the first time, the four party members are truly together using the power of Internet.  Will they conquer their sass and be the team they need to be?  Meh, probably not, but let's see! Feel free to drop us a review on iTunes and cast Message to us over social media.  It's only a cantrip.  We'd love to hear from you!   You can find "Taking Initiative" at: Website: takinginitiativepodcast.com Twitter: @TI_Pod Patreon: patreon.com/takinginitiative Discord: https://discord.gg/VS7F3Hd Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/takinginitiativepodcast YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCwWvHLXdUS2G3RE7CRr71w   Music credits for this episode: "Deadly Roulette," "Night Break," "Night of Chaos," "Vanishing" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ All mentions to Dungeons and Dragons (D&D), including the 5e ruleset, "Curse of Strahd," and its encompassed adventure "Death House," refer to the property owned by Wizards of the Coast (WOTC).  We do not own the rules or module.  We just enjoy playing!
Kent found his dream girl, though his dream girl doesn't give any shits and isn't afraid to talk to her ferret about it.  Also, guys, stop touching chests in a spooky house.  Just stop.  Bad things happen! This is "Curse of Strahd," not "Kleptotown!"  Though, that being said, that sounds like a fun mod.  You could get points for the amount of stuff you swipe.  It's essentially the video game "Thief," but the tabletop RPG!  Hm, I'll be back, I need to go relay this idea to Bucky.  Oh, and before I forget, the "House of Spoops" finale, episode 09, airs on June 12th!  You really won't want to miss it.  Hey!  Bucky!  I gots an idea!  Feel free to drop us a review on iTunes and cast Message to us over social media.  It's only a cantrip.  We'd love to hear from you!   You can find "Taking Initiative" at: Website: takinginitiativepodcast.com Twitter: @TI_Pod Patreon: patreon.com/takinginitiative Discord: https://discord.gg/VS7F3Hd Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/takinginitiativepodcast YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCwWvHLXdUS2G3RE7CRr71w   Music credits for this episode: "Interloper," "Marty Gots a Plan," "Vanishing" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ All mentions to Dungeons and Dragons (D&D), including the 5e ruleset, "Curse of Strahd," and its encompassed adventure "Death House," refer to the property owned by Wizards of the Coast (WOTC).  We do not own the rules or module.  We just enjoy playing!
And so we come to the finale of the "House of Spoops" arc.  What awaits them at the end?  Will they live?  Will they die?  Will they become best buds with the monster in the basement, maybe play a bit of poker and share some wine? Oh, maybe the monster isn't anything at all.  Maybe the kids are straight up liars!  ::shrugs::  I guess we will have to see. Please keep in mind, this is not the end of "Taking Initiative!"  The next episode concerning the Curse of Strahd module will release as usual in two weeks, aka June 26th, under the title "Barovian Rhapsody."  But what does this mean for the party?  Stop asking for spoilers, just listen to the damn episode already! Hungry children? Barovian accents? People with hoarse voices? Yep, this place has some character. But the question is: who is this Madam Eva? Will she be of help? I'm at episode 13 and although I've had to crank the volume higher than I anticipated in order to hear what they are saying due to character voices and what I assume is an un-boosted mic. I'm going to stick with it a little farther, hopefully the token girl improves dramatically. I very much enjoy her British accent but I've detested when she slips into a ... "ghetto trash rappers arm candy thuggette" way of talking? also it's little things that aren't just ignorance but a failure to grasp language and the meaning of words, example, quote I can't use disguise self on someone else? end quote I heard her do the end promo and she sounds much more practiced and well versed so I am optimistic
