In this episode, I delve into the latest developments from our Fallout tabletop RPG actual play series, “Tales from Tomorrow, Under the Mothman’s Embrace.” As your Overseer, I share some critical updates and reflections from the past couple of weeks, during which we faced a notable pause in streaming. This break stemmed from various life circumstances, including technical tribulations for our player Sky, who recently had to replace his laptop. Alongside that, we took a moment to celebrate birthdays, all while gearing up for an exciting transition to the Forge and Foundry system. In a more serious tone, I address some troubling experiences within our gaming community. Specifically, after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, I found myself abruptly removed from the Wild Wastelanders Market alongside others. This change was precipitated by a chilling shift in community dynamics that, in my view, prioritized profit over the safety and well-being of its members. I feel it’s vital to highlight that this community, which should be a sanctuary for allies against racism and bigotry, has shown itself to be complicit in harassment rather than protective. I encourage anyone engaged with that group to reconsider their involvement, as it’s clear that the leadership is more interested in their financial bottom line than in fostering a supportive environment. As we navigate these challenges, I also reflect on my commitment to authenticity and my belief in standing firmly against oppression in all its forms. This episode serves not only as a chronological update but also as a rallying call for integrity and solidarity within our gaming circles. I recognize the importance of being proactive and vocal as allies, rather than merely passive supporters. For those interested, I announce new discount codes available for the Bethesda Gear shop, serving as an opportunity to save while also supporting creators who align with our values.Shifting to the technical aspects of the last episode, I discuss our venture into the Foundry platform, highlighting its advantages over our previous VTT, Alchemy. The transition has been largely positive, allowing for a more fluid gaming experience. I extend my gratitude to community members like Neri who have provided invaluable assistance during this shift. Furthermore, I acknowledge the simultaneous challenges we face, including plumbing issues in my office that have added to the complexity of recent weeks. Despite these obstacles, I am excited about the future, including upcoming Vault Broadcast interviews and a reinvigorated commitment to engaging with Fallout 76 multiple nights a week.I conclude with a candid plea for accountability and reflection from fellow gamers, particularly those who may hold privilege. This moment tests our resolve; we must choose to stand against bigotry of all types and reject complacency. The urgency of this message resonates deeply with me, and I urge you all to engage thoughtfully with these issues. As we forge ahead, let’s maintain our focus on creating a community that values inclusivity, authenticity, and proactive resistance against hate. Until next time, stay vigilant, and let’s navigate this wasteland together.🔦 Join the Adventure* 🎥 Watch us live every Sunday at 7:30 PM ET on Twitch* 📺 Catch up on episodes via our main YouTube channel* 📺 Watch Fallout prop reviews & deep dives on Overseer Kyle’s channel* 💬 Join our Discord for behind-the-scenes content and community discussions* 🎙️ Listen to Tales From Tomorrow – our story-driven Fallout TTRPG podcast* 🎙️ Tune into Vault Broadcast – our Fallout creator interview series* 💰 Support us on Ko-fi for behind-the-scenes content & shoutouts* 📱 Follow us on TikTok and Instagram🛒 Use Our Affiliate Codes* 🧢 20% Off Bethesda Gear Shop* Use any of the following codes: VAULT2* (If one doesn’t work, try the next — they expire regularly)* 👉 gear.bethesda.net* 📚 10% Off Fallout TTRPG at Modiphius* Use code: BTALES* 👉 modiphius.net* 🛍️ Shop Amazon (Support Us)* 👉 amzn.to/4buk0Er This is a public episode. In this episode of "Tales from Tomorrow, Under the Mothman's Embrace," we gather to launch into another thrilling session of our Fallout TTRPG series. I, Overseer Kyle, facilitate the adventure alongside my amazing cast of friends, including Sky, DK, and Mack Raven. Our gameplay takes place within the rich, chaotic environment of Appalachia, where last week’s escapades ended in a cliffhanger of high stakes involving a trial and a chaotic attack by the Mothman cultists. We kick off the episode with a brief recap of the previous events, reminding everyone of the intense fallout following Jim Wayne's trial and the explosive chaos that erupted in town. As the players rally back together, we set the stage for the next phase of their journey: determining their next steps in either tracking down the legendary Chop or exploring the threat from rogue robots that are reportedly patrolling nearby. Given the circumstances, it’s clear that the stakes have never been higher. Before delving into the gameplay, I take a moment to share some exciting announcements regarding our community, including new campaigns launching soon and the code promotions available for those interested in Bethesda merchandise and the Fallout TTRPG itself. The atmosphere is charged with anticipation as our heroes strategize their next move under the looming threat of danger.Once we dive into the gaming portion, each player introduces their character, ready for action. Sky brings Sam to life, dressed in a Tunnel Snakes jacket, while DK plays his character, Jim. Mack Raven embodies her Mothman cultist character with fierce determination. The collaborative banter among the players enriches the experience, revealing their camaraderie and inventive plans as they prepare for the challenges that lie ahead. The session gradually shifts into a more intense phase as they encounter a group of feral ghouls while navigating the desolate streets. With each player's decisions, they engage in a dynamic combat encounter, showcasing their unique abilities and the new mechanics of the Foundry software we now use. I appreciate how easy it is to track initiative and manage health bars, ensuring the focus remains on the storytelling rather than getting bogged down by technical difficulties. As the ghouls attack, the players spring into action, with Sam using his shotgun to swiftly eliminate threats while Jim relies on his trusty pipe wrench. Meanwhile, Raven's character deftly uses her bow to deliver deadly shots from the shadows. Strategy and teamwork come to the forefront as they handle the ghoul menace, demonstrating not just their combat competence but also the growth of their characters through shared experiences. After the dust settles from the ghoul confrontation, the players reflect on their options moving forward in the hunt for Chop, noting a lack of clarity regarding his whereabouts and weighing their next strategic moves against the clock. They decide to form plans to see if they can uncover any leads on the robot patrols, revealing how each decision has the potential to drastically shift the course of their adventure. As I wrap up this episode, the challenges remain ever present, and I’m filled with excitement for the subsequent sessions. This dynamic game is not just about surviving the wasteland; it’s about forging friendships and narratives that will resonate long after the dice are rolled. We invite our listeners to join us on this journey, encouraging them to dive deeper into our community via subscriptions to our content for exclusive insights and behind-the-scenes material.Overall, this episode exemplifies not only the thrill of TTRPGs but also highlights our storytelling at its finest, and I'm eager to see where this journey will take us in the chapters to come.🔦 Join the Adventure* 🎥 Watch us live every Sunday at 7:30 PM ET on Twitch* 📺 Catch up on episodes via our main YouTube channel* 📺 Watch Fallout prop reviews & deep dives on Overseer Kyle’s channel* 💬 Join our Discord for behind-the-scenes content and community discussions* 🎙️ Listen to Tales From Tomorrow – our story-driven Fallout TTRPG podcast* 🎙️ Tune into Vault Broadcast – our Fallout creator interview series* 💰 Support us on Ko-fi for behind-the-scenes content & shoutouts* 📱 Follow us on TikTok and Instagram🛒 Use Our Affiliate Codes* 🧢 20% Off Bethesda Gear Shop* Use any of the following codes: VAULT2* (If one doesn’t work, try the next — they expire regularly)* 👉 gear.bethesda.net* 📚 10% Off Fallout TTRPG at Modiphius* Use code: BTALES* 👉 modiphius.net* 🛍️ Shop Amazon (Support Us)* 👉 amzn.to/4buk0Er This is a public episode. In this episode of the Overseer's Log, I dive into the latest happenings in our Diary Companion podcast, which accompanies our main Fallout TTRPG actual play series, Tales from Tomorrow. Specifically, we explore Episode 23, "How to Get Away with Murder." If you’re a fan of immersive role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons and beloved shows such as Critical Role or Dimension 20, you'll find our campaign particularly engaging, especially if you have a fondness for the Fallout universe. As I share updates, I reflect on our recent week off and the excitement surrounding my conversation with Mickey from the Fallout Family, whose work in short form video storytelling truly impresses. We discuss our creative processes and the intricacies involved in bringing compelling narratives to life within the Fallout framework. Notably, a comedic interlude caused by a blunder with my glasses before our recording session adds a personal touch to this week's episode.I emphasize the importance of engaging with our Discord community, overseen by me, where all show notes and updates are made available. Our Vault Broadcast project is evolving into something special, designed to bring together creators and fans for an interactive experience. This week, a live roundtable features esteemed creators like Marty and Mr. Wild Wasteland, as we explore the intersection of community-driven content and engaging gameplay. The format allows for lively discussions that segue into gameplay, providing a unique blend of conversation and action. As I transition into the main content of the week, I delve into Episode 23, sharing insights on the challenges my players face as they navigate a world that reacts to their decisions. The realization that actions have consequences—weaving in moral complexity—emerges as a central theme. Dynamic interactions with non-player characters (NPCs) force players to consider the ramifications of their actions in a world that is anything but static.I also lament the recent struggles with our previous virtual tabletop software, Alchemy, which failed to deliver the necessary functionality for an engaging gaming experience. I vent about the frustrations with its inadequate battle mapping and combat systems, reinforcing my commitment to creating an enjoyable and seamless gaming environment for my players. With a shift towards Forge, an extension of Foundry, I express optimism for improved functionality and a smoother gaming experience, thanks to the support of a knowledgeable friend. As a media creator, I discuss the excitement and intensity of managing multiple content streams, equating our creative endeavors to building a 'media empire.' I share appreciation for our audience's positive feedback and encourage anyone interested in contributing to the project to reach out. The potential for collaboration is open as we plan for more content and community events in the upcoming months, specifically centered around the upcoming Fallout TV series.A final note invites listeners to engage through our social platforms, highlighting opportunities for audience participation and the collaborative spirit we cherish. In this episode of "Tales from Tomorrow," we continue exploring the aftermath of a chaotic battle that left the small town of Hope reeling from a brutal attack by Mothman cultists. After a tumultuous trial that saw tensions rising, our characters—Sam, Jim, and Raven—face the harsh realities of their decisions. The episode dives into the emotional fallout as the group navigates their relationships with townsfolk who are now wary of their presence. After last week's explosive events, Sam is recovering in the medical clinic with the help of Alfred, the town's robotic assistant. Sam's dire condition highlights the severity of their earlier skirmishes, and he must decide whether to pursue medical care for his lingering injuries or to assist the townspeople in their time of need. The issue of Raven's involvement in the attack complicates matters, as the townsfolk blame her for provoking the chaos with her presence at the trial. As the episode unfolds, Jim and Sam attempt to manage the perceptions of the community, especially as Raven faces hostility from Hell's Bells, a key figure in town, who believes Raven's actions are responsible for the attacks. The group must carefully maneuver their way through social tensions while also coming together to help injured residents. Our characters embark on a grim mission to identify the bodies of the cultists and discover their origins, which ultimately connects them to Clancy Manor, the source of past troubles. During this time, they grapple with the fallout from their choices and consider how their actions could impact their standing within the town moving forward.Themes of accountability, friendship, and the struggle for redemption permeate this episode as the characters prepare for a fraught journey toward Point Pleasant. The group engages in vital planning discussions, weighing their options as they contemplate moving forward amidst the wreckage of what they once aimed to build in Hope. With moral dilemmas mounting, the trio must band together to overcome their past mistakes and focus on a collective future, hoping to heal both the physical and emotional scars left by the conflict. Ultimately, the episode serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of peace and the necessity of unity in the face of adversity, setting the stage for their next adventure in the wasteland.🔦 Join the Adventure* 🎥 Watch us live every Sunday at 7:30 PM ET on Twitch* 📺 Catch up on episodes via our main YouTube channel* 📺 Watch Fallout prop reviews & deep dives on Overseer Kyle’s channel* 💬 Join our Discord for behind-the-scenes content and community discussions* 🎙️ Listen to Tales From Tomorrow – our story-driven Fallout TTRPG podcast* 🎙️ Tune into Vault Broadcast – our Fallout creator interview series* 💰 Support us on Ko-fi for behind-the-scenes content & shoutouts* 📱 Follow us on TikTok and Instagram🛒 Use Our Affiliate Codes* 🧢 20% Off Bethesda Gear Shop* Use any of the following codes: VAULT2* (If one doesn’t work, try the next — they expire regularly)* 👉 gear.bethesda.net* 📚 10% Off Fallout TTRPG at Modiphius* Use code: BTALES* 👉 modiphius.net* 🛍️ Shop Amazon (Support Us)* 👉 amzn.to/4buk0Er This is a public episode. In this episode of Overseer's Log, I delve into the chaotic realm of tech troubles and upcoming gameplay highlights for our Fallout tabletop RPG series. Kicking things off, I express my deep frustration with a significant issue stemming from my dual-computer streaming setup. Having streamed since 2017, I rely heavily on advanced network protocols like NDI to seamlessly transmit video between my older gaming rig and my MacBook for live broadcasts on Twitch and YouTube. However, a recent technical hiccup has resulted in a garbled NDI signal, thwarting my attempts to deliver quality content. I explore the various diagnostic steps I've taken, including multiple Windows reinstalls and hardware swaps, to pinpoint the source of this issue, but it remains elusive. As I reflect on my streaming journey, I highlight how this setback has impacted my ability to stream Fallout 76, much to my annoyance and disappointment. The troubleshooting process has been extensive, with unproductive solutions in both hardware and software leading to a feeling of hitting a wall. I can't help but hope that the new NIC card I ordered will resolve the situation and restore the streaming quality we had come to rely upon. As I await its delivery, I explore the possibility of using a capture card as a backup solution, even though I'd prefer not to need it, given the cost considerationsShifting gears from tech troubles, I navigate into more narrative terrain by discussing our recent "Trial of Jim Wayne" episode from our TTRPG series. The trial presented players with the consequences of their character's choices, specifically Jim's decision to execute a cultist without trial, stirring civil unrest among the townsfolk. I share insights into the players grappling with moral dilemmas, realizing that their characters are not invincible heroes but ordinary people with limited influence and resources in a complex and living world. Their actions have sparked contrasting opinions as they confront the ethical implications of their choices, ultimately pushing them to navigate the challenging dynamics of justice and accountability within the game.I provide commentary on the evolving character arcs within our party, particularly focusing on Jim's precarious legal situation and the impending consequences of his actions if he fails to defend himself in the upcoming trial. As I discuss these themes, I emphasize that the players' past actions, while initially well-intentioned, may lead to dire repercussions, leaving them in a position where any attempt to absolve their friend Jim could threaten their own standing in the town.Wrapping up the discussion, I touch on the excitement surrounding our upcoming “Mothman Equinox” event, which is expected to serve as a climactic moment within the narrative, tying together various plot threads and character arcs. I encourage listeners to join us through Twitch and YouTube to witness the unfolding drama in our live sessions. This episode stands as a testament to the intricate balance of storytelling, character development, and the relentless challenges of technology we face as content creators and players alike. For those interested in more insights and updates, I provide links to our various platforms, including YouTube and Discord, and invite them to engage more deeply with our community.=📅 WEEKLY VAULT RECAP - AUGUST 16, 2025Hello Vault Dwellers! In this episode of "Tales from Tomorrow," the Fallout TTRPG actual play series, we navigate a tense courtroom drama as Jim Wayne faces trial for the murder of a cultist. As we delve into the chaotic world of post-apocalyptic justice, our characters Sam, Raven, and Jim confront the implications of their past actions and the fallout of their adventures. The episode opens with a recap of the previous events, establishing the stakes surrounding Jim's trial. The quaint town of Hope, which has been grappling with the consequences of their escapades, is buzzing with anticipation and anxiety as preparations unfold for a trial unlike any other. Jim is contending with both the weight of legal charges and the scrutiny of the townsfolk who are eager to witness justice served—or perhaps revenge enacted. Our players introduce their characters, each with their own feelings about the impending trial and what it means for their group dynamic. With the backdrop set and tension mounting, Sam makes a compelling argument for Jim’s self-defense plea, highlighting the circumstances that led to the confrontation with the cultists. He emphasizes Jim's contributions to the town, essentially arguing that survival trumps all, especially in a world as harsh as the wasteland. As the trial progresses, we witness Sam's strategic maneuvers to sway the jury while Jim's character is put under scrutiny. The interrogation reveals Jim's prior knowledge of the cult's beliefs and the consequences of touching their sacred orb. Questions echo within the courtroom about the nature of self-defense and the complexities of morality in a world where the lines are blurred and survival often necessitates violence. We see Raven engage in a desperate gamble to summon the Wise One for aid, showcasing her deep commitment to saving Jim despite the potential risks to herself. The court atmosphere shifts as she faces hostility, highlighting the severe consequences that can arise from defiance. Meanwhile, the chaotic energy of the townspeople, buoyed by street vendors and festivities, offers a stark contrast to the grim proceedings inside the courthouse. The climax builds as Jim’s and Raven’s testimonies intertwine with the challenges posed by the cultists, especially as the beliefs of the Eightfold Path collide with the reality of the judicial process in Hope. Each character’s dialogue is laden with significance as they grapple with moral dilemmas and the dire consequences of their choices. As the episode concludes, the fate of Jim hangs in the balance, leaving listeners on a thrilling cliffhanger. The jury is tasked with a weighty decision that could change the course of life for Jim and the town. The tension of this trial extends beyond mere legal implications; it speaks to the heart of survival in a post-apocalyptic world, where justice is as murky as the waters surrounding Hope. The episode closes, urging listeners to consider the moral choices made in the wasteland and what they would determine as justice in such dire circumstances.Join us next week as we uncover the jury's verdict and explore the consequences of their decision, continuing to unravel the tapestry of stories in this ever-evolving world of Fallout.🔦 Join the Adventure* 🎥 Watch us live every Sunday at 7:30 PM ET on Twitch* 📺 Catch up on episodes via our main YouTube channel* 📺 Watch Fallout prop reviews & deep dives on Overseer Kyle’s channel* 💬 Join our Discord for behind-the-scenes content and community discussions* 🎙️ Listen to Tales From Tomorrow – our story-driven Fallout TTRPG podcast* 🎙️ Tune into Vault Broadcast – our Fallout creator interview series* 💰 Support us on Ko-fi for behind-the-scenes content & shoutouts* 📱 Follow us on TikTok and Instagram🛒 Use Our Affiliate Codes* 🧢 20% Off Bethesda Gear Shop* Use any of the following codes: VAULT2* (If one doesn’t work, try the next — they expire regularly)* 👉 gear.bethesda.net* 📚 10% Off Fallout TTRPG at Modiphius* Use code: BTALES* 👉 modiphius.net* 🛍️ Shop Amazon (Support Us)* 👉 amzn.to/4buk0Er This is a public episode. S1E20 - Trial By Fire

S1E20 - Trial By Fire

2025-08-0602:28:48

Where We Left OffThe crew left the Grove Family Cabins behind, their boat heavy with people and questions. Reuben, Ted, and Marlene came aboard. So did Chop — the super mutant — and his broken Sentry Bot project: Buddy Bot. They were headed north, back toward Hope. What Happened This TimeUpstream, the crew fished and spotted trouble. Mirelurks in the water. Dozens. Possibly hundreds. Then came the real problem: a Mirelurk Queen, moving along the river nearby. They didn’t fight. They watched. They waited. They got lucky. Not long after, they found the aftermath of someone else’s bad luck — a merchant caravan torn apart on a riverbank. Sam and Raven investigated while Chop, Jim, and the settlers stayed aboard. They looted what they could: med kits, food, armor, and a legendary shotgun. On the way back to the boat, Raven slipped — tumbling into a nest of hatchlings. Chop pulled her out while the others covered. They got back on the water, battered but breathing. Then the call came in. Tom, on the Hope radio frequency:“Dock the boat. Everyone stays aboard — except Sam.”Mayor Smiles was calling for a trial. The Dreamer’s PriceSam met with Tom and later, Mayor SMILEs. The offer: five jurors, selected from a list Sam would provide, but subject to approval. The crime: the murder of a member of the Eightfold Path. The timeline: 24 hours. Not self-defense, they said. Not this time. The sentence? Still unclear. But death was on the table.Sam started planning. Alfred the Mr. Handy raised concerns — not just about the trial, but about Jim.Jim, still on the boat, offered a defense no one asked for. A checklist of good deeds. A few smiles. A few unsettling laughs. No remorse. And maybe no plan. They Plan — But Not All TogetherThe jury list started forming: Lena. Tom. Terry. Jacob. Hell’s Bells. Sam sent for Rusty Dusty Bones — the ghoul with a gift for law and a group of holotapes to give him all the ideas he could need. If he could make it north in time, he might just save Jim’s life.Meanwhile, Raven started to wonder: if this town is about second chances… does Jim deserve one?Next?Tomorrow at high noon, Hope holds its first post-war trial. The jury will decide. Rusty’s on the road. SMILEs is watching. And something is moving upriver, behind them.If they can’t hold the line — Hope falls next.Watch the bonus episode➡️ Check it out here on Ko-fi 🔦 Join the Adventure* 🎥 Watch us live every Sunday at 7:30 PM ET on Twitch* 📺 Catch up on episodes via our main YouTube channel* 📺 Watch Fallout prop reviews & deep dives on Overseer Kyle’s channel* 💬 Join our Discord for behind-the-scenes content and community discussions* 🎙️ Listen to Tales From Tomorrow – our story-driven Fallout TTRPG podcast* 🎙️ Tune into Vault Broadcast – our Fallout creator interview series* 💰 Support us on Ko-fi for behind-the-scenes content & shoutouts* 📱 Follow us on TikTok and Instagram🛒 Use Our Affiliate Codes* 🧢 20% Off Bethesda Gear Shop* Use any of the following codes: VAULT2* (If one doesn’t work, try the next — they expire regularly)* 👉 gear.bethesda.net* 📚 10% Off Fallout TTRPG at Modiphius* Use code: BTALES* 👉 modiphius.net* 🛍️ Shop Amazon (Support Us)* 👉 amzn.to/4buk0Er This is a public episode. Where We Left OffRaven came back from the flames — alive, but changed. She spoke of a place called the Lantern: a sanctuary you reach only in dreams. She said a man named Brother Charles was waiting for her there. That he called her child. That the weapon in her hands — an old-world blunderbuss — came from inside the dream.Jim and Sam aren’t sure what to believe. But they believe in her. And they believe it’s time to leave. The settlers at the Grove Family Cabins feel it too. Hope’s light still flickers up north — maybe it’s time to head back. What Happened This TimeThe Grove Family settlers are packing up. Ted and Marlene begin sorting their gear while Reuben stands quiet on watch. The cabins are being abandoned — too exposed, too close to the cult’s reach. Chop starts gathering his own things and mentions a hidden stash nearby he wants to check on.After a tense moment of decision, the crew agrees: they’ll help the settlers relocate to Hope. But hauling all that gear won’t be easy. The best option? Head back north by boat. Before the crew sets off, Chop asks for a detour — to the Darling Sisters' Lab. Once a drug-running safehouse, it’s now Chop’s personal workshop. There, he reveals his passion project: a nearly-restored sentry bot. All it needs is a fusion core. And wouldn’t you know it — Mac has one.The moment it powers on, the sentry bot identifies Mac as a hostile threat and launches into pursuit. Its weapons are offline, thankfully, so it’s more slapstick than slaughter. Around the farm they go — a super mutant yelling, a scientist panicking, and a robot trying its best to obey protocols last updated sometime before the war.Chop beams with pride. He dubs the machine Buddy Bot — and considers it a step toward understanding friendship. With the bot mostly under control, the crew heads south to rendezvous with Alfred at the Tyler County Fairgrounds. There, they board the boat and begin their journey upriver, back toward Hope — and whatever waits for them beyond it.Echoes of What’s to ComeThe episode ends on the water. The settlers are safe. The cabins are left behind. Sam watches the shore drift by. Mac stands at the bow, scanning the treeline. Jim wonders how long this peace will last.Chop sits beside his sentry bot, smiling. The crew has a destination — and a direction.💬 Get in touch with us!🗣️ Tell us your tale → voicecast.app/tftfallout📻 Listen to the CASE Review tftfallout.substack.com/s/case-review💻 Watch & listen → OverseerKyle.com📜 Join the Founders Wall → ko-fi.com/overseerkyle🔦 Join the Adventure* 🎥 Watch us live every Sunday at 7:30 PM ET on Twitch* 📺 Catch up on episodes via our main YouTube channel* 📺 Watch Fallout prop reviews & deep dives on Overseer Kyle’s channel* 💬 Join our Discord for behind-the-scenes content and community discussions* 🎙️ Listen to Tales From Tomorrow – our story-driven Fallout TTRPG podcast* 🎙️ Tune into Vault Broadcast – our Fallout creator interview series* 💰 Support us on Ko-fi for behind-the-scenes content & shoutouts* 📱 Follow us on TikTok and Instagram🛒 Use Our Affiliate Codes* 🧢 20% Off Bethesda Gear Shop* Use any of the following codes: BTALES40* (If one doesn’t work, try the next — they expire regularly)* 👉 gear.bethesda.net* 📚 10% Off Fallout TTRPG at Modiphius* Use code: BTALES* 👉 modiphius.net* 🛍️ Shop Amazon (Support Us)* 👉 amzn.to/4buk0Er This is a public episode. A Raven From the AshesHello, Vault Dwellers and Wastelanders — your Overseer here.I wanted to take a moment to reflect on Episode 18 and all the weird, wonderful, improvised magic that brought it together as well as give updates on the office! As a reminder, we will not have a new episode the week of the 20th, but be sure to follow my other YouTube channel (Overseer Kyle) and our Vault Broadcast podcast as we’ve got new episodes launching next week!Where She Went...Episode 18 saw Raven separated from the crew, waking inside a burnt-out barn — alone, breath shallow, eyes wide — until she found sanctuary the only place a dreamer could: a refrigerator.Yeah. Really. That choice — to crawl in, half-suffocated, as the Mothman beckoned — sent her somewhere few have ever gone: Lantern. It’s a Mothman sanctuary referenced in Fallout 76, but not fully explored. We expanded on it with a twist of Rose Red, the haunted house that builds itself to your fears. What if Lantern wasn’t a place you traveled to physically, but mentally? What if it grew with you?In Lantern, Raven found Brother Charles — not the stuttering, fractured vessel he’s become, but the man he used to be. The one that speaks clearly. The one still whole. That was no accident. That was the version of him who never left the Embrace of the Mothman.Behind the GM ScreenLast week, Sam re-entered the story via a brutal Mothman cult ambush. That worked out great — thanks to a real-world scheduling conflict, we got to write that absence into the story. This week, we did the same with Raven.Mac and I had discussed her fate off-air. Originally? She said she'd go willingly with the Mothman. But after sitting with it, she decided Raven would fight — reject the pull and run. So, we rewound the tape and wrote something better.I love how much creative elasticity this format gives us. It's spontaneous, it's emotional, and it's deeply collaborative. That’s the beauty of tabletop storytelling. The Settlers Pack UpMeanwhile, back at the Grove Family Cabins — Ted, Marlene, and Reuben made a choice: to leave. The world is getting stranger, more dangerous, and the crew's brush with the Mothman cult shook everyone. What I haven’t said aloud (until now) is this: I didn’t originally know if they’d be good folks. Maybe they were raiders. Maybe they were cultists in disguise. Like all things in this campaign, that answer was improvised live at the table, shaped by your actions.Studio Upgrades and No More Pre-ShowQuick IRL update: we’re tweaking lights, sound, and camera angles in the new studio. It's a slow climb toward full-time, and every Ko-fi contribution helps put fuel in the tank and power in the grid. We’re officially cutting the TTRPG pre-show on Sundays — at least for now. With a small audience, it doesn’t quite serve its purpose, and I’d rather focus that energy on building better episodes. Once our viewership grows, we may revisit.Programming Note📵 No TTRPG stream on July 21 — Skye’s got a scheduling conflict.🎮 Instead, we’ll be live in Fallout 76 all weekend! Where We Left OffRaven vanished in the chaos. The barn was burning. The cultists were dead — but the Red-Eyed Mothman wasn’t. Sam, Jim, and Chop stood in the ashes, Reuben at their side, wondering if the fire had claimed her too. But Raven was somewhere else. Somewhere darker. Somewhere colder. She walked the halls of the Lantern — a place from childhood stories. A home of the Enlightened.Back at the Grove Cabins, the settlers were packing to leave. The cult’s reach was too close now. And even as the fire died down at Aaronholt Farm, the woods grew quiet in all the wrong ways. What Happened This TimeSam and Jim search the scorched wreckage. The barn’s collapsed, but the dust still lingers — glowing purple, just like before. They follow its trail and find something impossible: Raven’s voice, echoing from beneath the rubble. They dig. They find the fridge. She’s alive.Inside, Raven had lived a dream — or something worse. She saw the Lantern up close: endless hallways, glowing green fog, rooms built to her questions. Brother Charles waited there, calling her “child.” Telling her she’d never really left. That only her mind had walked those halls. She brings something back. A weapon — an 18th-century blunderbuss. She says it came from the dream. No one’s sure what that means. The trio regroups. They loot the homestead for supplies: ammo, fire arrows, stim packs, some whispered note about not being alone. But the settlers at the Grove are leaving. They’ve seen enough. If Hope’s still lit, maybe they’ll go there.Dusk falls. The Mothman still watches. The Lantern BeckonsThe figure in the dream called himself Brother Charles. Said the Lantern was a sanctuary. But only minds could enter. Is it a real place? A memory? A psychic echo? And if Raven brought something out… what does that mean about going back in?They Found Her — But She’s Not the SameRaven’s alive, but shaken. She speaks of the Wise One, of trials ahead, of a kingdom of ash. Sam and Jim aren’t sure what to believe — but they know they’re heading for Point Pleasant. The cult’s not done. And neither is the Mothman.Next? The settlers are scattering. The trio heads east. Brother Errol once said the Lantern took a long journey to reach. But Raven found it anyway. In her sleep. Through fire. With dust in her lungs and something new in her hands. What else is waiting at Clancy Manor? And what happens when the Chosen One knocks on the wrong door?💭 Want the debrief? S1E17 - Bound in Shadow

Where We Left OffSam (Sky), Jim (DK), and Raven (Mac) left Hope behind and drifted south down the Ohio river. The Free Radicals at the West Virginia Lumber Mill wanted a new feudal contract — bend the knee or keep drifting. The crew kept drifting. At Tyler County Fairgrounds, they found Reuben mid-brawl with a Scorched. He pointed them to the Grove Family Cabins — more good folk holding the line: Ted, Marlene, Reuben, and Chop. Chop’s new. Eight feet of super mutant muscle, half-sane, dragging dead Protectrons like toys. What Happened This TimeMorning comes — Sam’s gone. Chop’s gone. Reuben too. Sam’s gear’s still in his bunk except the sidearm. Footprints run east, toward the old Aaronholt Farm — and too close to Clancy Manor for Raven’s comfort. She’d dreamt it: a Mothman cult forming up, one of them looking back at her through the vision like a crack in the glass.Jim and Raven track the prints to the farm. Dusty barns, old silos, signs of settlers passing through. They find ammo, stew, a powder charge — and then the ambush hits. Raiders or cultists — doesn’t matter. Shotgun blasts in the dark. A Molotov sails in — barn’s burning. Second Molotov misfires — their hideout’s burning too.Underground, Sam wakes blindfolded. Chop’s chained. Reuben’s roped to a post. A cultist in the dark tries to break him — but Sam breaks free first. They wrestle. Chop rips the manacles out of the wall and snaps the cultist’s neck like dry driftwood. The Dreamer’s PriceRaven reaches for the Wise One. Instead, the Red-Eyed Mothman finds her first. She’s pulled backward through her vision as the barn comes down — gone when Jim hits the door. They Escape — But Not All TogetherSam, Jim, Reuben, and Chop drag each other out of the burning farmhouse as timbers crash in. The barn’s collapsed. Raven’s trail ends at scorched earth and fluttering ash.Next? The Mothman cult has eyes in the dark. The town of Hope is a beacon now — and Raven’s gone with the Red-Eyed one. Jim, Sam, Chop, and Reuben walk out alive, but they’re far from safe.💭 Want the debrief? In Overseer’s Log 16, Kyle settles into a brand-new office while opening up about how capitalism shapes the Fallout narrative — and his own life. He talks candidly about moving projects forward, teases an upcoming chat with Mr. Wild Wasteland, and digs into how gaming and real-world politics collide. This episode is part reflection, part rallying cry: join in, speak up, and keep this creative wasteland alive.🔦 Join the Adventure* 🎥 Watch us live every Sunday at 7:30 PM ET on Twitch* 📺 Catch up on episodes via our main YouTube channel* 📺 Watch Fallout prop reviews & deep dives on Overseer Kyle’s channel* 💬 Join our Discord for behind-the-scenes content and community discussions* 🎙️ Listen to Tales From Tomorrow – our story-driven Fallout TTRPG podcast* 🎙️ Tune into Vault Broadcast – our Fallout creator interview series* 💰 Support us on Ko-fi for behind-the-scenes content & shoutouts → ko-fi.com/overseerkyle* 📱 Follow us on TikTok and Instagram🛒 Use Our Affiliate Codes* 🧢 20% Off Bethesda Gear Shop* Use any of the following codes: BTALES36 and soon BTALES37* (If one doesn’t work, try the next — they expire regularly)* 👉 gear.bethesda.net* 📚 10% Off Fallout TTRPG at Modiphius* Use code: BTALES* 👉 modiphius.net* 🛍️ Shop Amazon (Support Us)* 👉 amzn.to/4buk0Er This is a public episode. The crew finally made landfall in the northern Appalachian Territories. The town of Hope is far behind them now—and with it, any sense of stability. This week’s session picked up as the party approached the Tyler County Fairgrounds, a landmark of rusted rides and overgrowth that once held happier memories. What they found instead was a gunfight, a settlement barely holding on, and a super mutant named Chop who may be one of the best allies they’ve found yet.🔫 A Gunfight, a Misunderstanding, and a New NameNear the fairground gates, gunfire broke the calm. A scorched creature and a lone wastelander were already mid-fight as our group arrived. Sam and Jim crept through the brush. Raven climbed a rooftop and flanked the scene. After a few well-placed shots and one dramatic entrance from Raven, the scorched was down—and the settler was still standing. His name was Reuben.Reuben brought the party back to a patchwork settlement in the woods. Just a few cabins, some crops, a makeshift watchpost. But it was enough to be home—for now.The people there, including Marlene and Ted, weren’t hostile. But they weren’t exactly welcoming either. Trust takes time.🪓 “Chop is good at making smash.”While the others unpacked, Sam went looking for Ted and stumbled into something else entirely: a massive super mutant pulling apart Protectrons in the woods. His name—self-given—was Chop. What followed was one of the strangest, gentlest, and tensest social scenes in the campaign so far. Sam stayed calm. Chop asked for Nuka-Cola. And after a few rolls and a lot of heart, they came to an understanding.Chop followed Sam back to camp, dragging two dead robots behind him. Then things got complicated.A half-joking comment from Raven about “keeping” Chop went sideways fast. He backhanded her—not hard, but enough to draw a line. One hit. One point of damage. One very clear message: Chop is not a pet.To everyone's credit, the tension diffused. But the moment lingers.💤 Visions from the CultLater that night, Raven dreamed—or was pulled—again. This time, she saw Clancy Manor not as ruins, but alive with firelight and activity. Cultists marched. Pyres burned. One figure in the crowd turned toward her. Just one.She woke up with more questions than answers.🌽 What We Learned This Week* The scorched are still around* Reuben’s settlement is one of the last threads of frontier life in the north* Chop may be the most dangerous ally the party’s made* Free Radical gangs are rumored to be pushing down from the east* Raven’s visions are starting to feel more like warnings than memoriesThe crew’s presence here changes things. People are watching—some with hope, some with fear.🎙️ Studio NotesWe’ve moved the whole stream over to new software—cleaner visuals, multi-camera setups, and more tools for future guests and call-ins. We explore my recent switch from OBS to Ecamm Live, a move influenced by our need for more streamlined guest interviews and better audio capturing capabilities. This new software allows us to create inviting overlays for our broadcasts and ensures a smoother experience for both hosts and guests. I discuss the surprising adaptability of Ecamm Live and its potential to transform our creative workflow, making it easier and more efficient. The conversation then shifts to discussing the exciting prospects of moving our operations into a dedicated studio space. My commitment to finding a suitable location stems from past challenges with housing and recording environments, as I want to nurture creativity without interrupting the lives of those around me. I describe a recent studio tour that exceeded my expectations, detailing its quiet, isolated setting, ample ethernet ports—ideal for a tech-heavy production environment—and the potential for versatile setups. This space offers more than just a physical backdrop; it symbolizes the next phase in our production journey, encouraging collaboration and community engagement.💰 Become a member on Ko-fiIn detailing our programming schedule, I outline the various projects currently in motion, from our three-hour Tales from Tomorrow TTRPG series to the behind-the-scenes C.A.S.E. Review for our paid members. My excitement builds as I share updates on planned summer campaign series and the prop unboxing segments featured on my YouTube channel. I reflect on how these multiple initiatives not only diversify content but also allow for increased interaction and feedback from our audience. The episode further introduces our strategies for audience engagement, especially the importance of timely interactions on platforms like YouTube. I emphasize how your likes and comments can dramatically influence our reach, highlighting the algorithmic nature of content discovery. Alongside mentioning our Ko-fi membership tiers, I explain how these contributions will help facilitate the transition to a dedicated studio and enhance our video and audio output. As we move through the discussion, I acknowledge that the road ahead, including scheduling interviews and output consistency, presents its own challenges but also exciting opportunities for growth. I also touch upon the integration of new tools like Voice Cast, which will allow audience members to submit audio messages—inviting them into our creative process and giving them a stake in our narrative development. In closing, I reaffirm the collaborative spirit of this project. Your support—whether through direct contributions or by spreading the word about our content—enriches this creative journey and helps build a strong community around the worlds we are crafting. With your assistance, I aim to propel our collective story forward, leading to more engaging and immersive experiences for all involved, as we embark on this thrilling chapter together.Join the Adventure:* 🎥 Watch us live every Sunday on Twitch at 7:30 PM ET* 📺 Catch up on episodes through our YouTube channel* 📺 Follow Kyle’s secondary YouTube channel for Fallout prop reviews and deep dives* 💬 Join our Discord community for behind-the-scenes content and discussions* 🎙️ Follow our TFT podcast for enhanced storytelling and exclusive commentary* 🎙️ Follow our Vault Broadcast podcast for community interviews* 💰 Support us on Ko-fi for shoutouts in episodes as well as behind-the-scenes content!* 📱 Follow us on TikTok and Instagram for more!* ☎️ Leave us a message.Use our Affiliate Codes:* 🛒 Get 20% off the Bethesda Gear Shop using our codes:BTALES31, BTALES32, and soon BTALES33* (If one doesn’t work, try increasing the number — they expire often!)* 📚 Get 10% off the Modiphius shop when buying the Fallout TTRPG using code BTALES* 🛍️ Shop Amazon with our Amazon Affiliate link.Grab your Pip-Boy and stock up on RadAway – the wasteland awaits! In this episode, we slow things down a bit—just a few of us gathered around the digital table for a catch-up session in our Fallout TTRPG campaign. Before we dive in, I talk briefly about the launch of Vault Broadcast, our new creator-focused Fallout podcast. We’ve got our very first guest lined up this week: a talented prop maker known for their insane Nuka-Cola armor builds. Couldn’t be more excited to kick this off.Back in the Wasteland, it’s Sky, DarkKnight, and Mac holding things down. Mac joins us despite feeling under the weather—trooper as always. This session gave us a chance to reflect, revisit some core story beats, and bring new or returning viewers back up to speed on where the hell we are in the world of Tales From Tomorrow. We get into some good character moments:Sky’s PC is facing down some dark realities—both in the world and within themselves.DarkKnight’s finally starting to click with the system and opens up about his character’s past (and why he’s so cagey).Mac leans into her cultist roots and how that’s affecting group dynamics. The big themes here? Survival, trust, moral gray zones—classic Fallout. We dig into the weight of player choices and how the story pivots depending on what they do. There's a great back-and-forth about whether certain actions were justified, including one violent decision that's still echoing through the community they’re trying to build.I also talk a bit about GM’ing Fallout—why improvisation matters, and how good players shape the world as much as I do. We cover lore beats, future threats, and where we might be headed next. (Let’s just say the Mothman cult isn't done with us yet.)As always, the session ends with a look ahead—more episodes coming, more ways for the audience to join in, and a bigger focus on community storytelling across all our shows. If you’ve been following Tales From Tomorrow, this is a great checkpoint episode to re-sync with the group and peek behind the curtain a bit.Check out my other videoJoin the Adventure:🎥 Watch us live every Sunday at 7:30 PM ET on Twitch (Pre-show starts at 7 PM!)📺 Catch up on episodes via the Tales From Tomorrow YouTube Channel🧰 Explore Fallout prop reviews on Overseer Kyle's Channel💬 Join the community on Discord for behind-the-scenes access and campaign chatter🎙️ Tales From Tomorrow Podcast – immersive audio storytelling + extended universe lore + Overseer’s Logs🗂️ C.A.S.E.
