This is a bumper Christmas episode of Talking Bollox! There's everything from a quiz (chaotic as ever), to in person listener questions from the GOAT McGinty and we even have Terence back, briefly. There's also some audio previously kept back for TBX members of a "car crash" from when we shot our Talking Bollox in the Country series. As a Christmas present, we decided to release that series for everyone to see and you can watch it on the GoLoud YouTube channel here: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8vkxyvpYjGNRLvr0gY-iidOwPA3bvGxV&si=1xNH1a1OU6OUTYkBLet us know what you think in the comments, or in an email to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture - RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. Comedian Chris Kent joined us for chat about everything from airport disasters (and he's had a few!) to dream guests on the podcast (shout out to Roy Keane!)Chris told us what phrase he'd like to ban from stand up and some of the worst advice he's ever received. Calvin wonders why dentists need to know so much information about your life and learns about the mystery of the car wash for the bus.Send us your listener questions or cohost suggestions to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture - RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. From vigorous jumping noises followed by applause, to mannequin legs in wheelie bins, there were a lot of absolutely off the wall neighbour dilemma's in this week's bonus episode with comedian Chris Kent. And it's not just the people next door that are the problem, sometimes it's within the house too. We hear from a girl whose fella has a crippling toilet paper fear, and another listener who has a housemate leaving concerning clues via the fridge magnets.Send your listener questions to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com
The hilarious Al Foran joined us this week and somehow, even though it's only a few weeks to Christmas we ended up talking about Halloween. Calvin reveals the backstory to the prank on Terence at the Ploughing and Al explains why he'd never partake in a celebrity boxing fight despite understanding the appeal. There were also chats about bad bus journeys, miniature genies, finding cash and more.Send us your questions to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture - RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. Al Foran joined us for this week's bonus, and brought us back in time with his nostalgia about Pogs and Tip the Can.Calvin revealed he has no interest in being in the pocket of any football player, and Al does an impression of David Attenborough eating Hillbillys. There's debates about cupboard organisation and we ask what the plural of moose is?Send in your questions to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com
Late yesterday afternoon we got a phonecall. Mick Foley, WWE Hall of Famer, 3 time WWF champion and one of Calvin's dream guests would be open to an interview. If we could get to the Laughter Lounge within the hour. So, we grabbed the mics and headed down. This is a surprise episode, even for us. Mick told us about his getting started in wrestling, the moves he regrets making and which of his iconic characters Mankind, Cactus Jack, or Dude Love he's the most like. The Hell in a Cell hero shared his story of being a hardcore legend with us and explained how looking back on the past is like therapy for him now. And he told Calvin he had great hair, so expect to hear that mentioned forever now.We hope you enjoy, because we certainly did. This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture - RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. Our culchie co-host Mary Claire Fitzpatrick aka mcluvs2laugh stuck around for the bonus episode this week and gives us the best McGinty since Terence's hiatus began. There are questions about shower preferences, witness protection and Calvin reveals that he might actually be in the market for some turf.If you want to check out the new TB in the Country series head over to TBX now - www.goloudplayer.com/thegaffAnd keep sending your listener questions in to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com
Mary-Claire Fitzpatrick aka mcluvs2laugh joined Calvin this week and I think it's safe to say she's the biggest culchie ever on Talking Bollox. Between cockerel impressions and Winning Streak stories, there's also a quiz on the rural way of life and in typical TB fashion it descended immediately into chaos! MC told us about her role as the narrator in our new Talking Bollox in The Country series which is available now for TBX members. Enya Martin and Ger Jordan joined Calvin for this bonus episode and a listeners question has them planning Dublin's answer to the Ploughing Championships complete with spicebags, scramblers and e-scooters. Calvin asks if anyone would even want to win an Oscar unless it's for Best Actor and they wonder whether buying the same shoes again and again should be allowed. And they all share some of the biggest lies they regret telling.Send your questions to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com
Enya Martin and Ger Jordan joined Calvin this week and since the episode was recorded the day after that amazing Irish win against Portugal, it starts off with some serious slagging of Ronaldo and dreaming about tournaments.Calvin tells us what his idyllic airport experience would be and a listener considering dumping her fella over chicken wings has everyone up in arms. And of course, we couldn't have Ger in and not have him do a prank call...Send your listener questions to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture - RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. Roddy Collins stayed around for the bonus episode and as ever with Roddy we didn't know where his stories were going to take us. He started to answer a question about earwigs and ended up telling us about the time he saw a ghost. Calvin thinks more kids should be playing in the streets and Roddy reminisces on his own childhood spent weighing potatoes and stacking cigarettes. Roddy's great craic but be careful if you want to buy him a pint next time he's out, because he won't hold back or make any excuses if he doesn't want to talk.Send in your listener questions to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com
How we could have guest co-hosts in and not include Roddy Collins? He kicks off in his usual fashion taking us on tangents on everything from old westerns, to landing planes and birthdays. He laments the loss of the scissors and comb in the barber shop and tells us how he got kicked out of a building site for talking too much [We're not surprised]We put Roddy's managerial expertise to the test with variety of scenarios on everything from deli ham displays to go-karting feuds.Send in your listener questions and guest co host suggestions to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture - RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. Joe McGucken and Ian Molloy joined Calvin for this bonus episode and they came in with plenty to say including tales of psychics, ghostly farts and forgotten wedding cards. Our stand ins this week are online sketch comedians Joe McGucken and Ian Molloy, who entertain with stories of feuds, inner city ma's, and car accidents. There's a debate about who would win between a world champion sprinter and a competitive eater and Calvin shares possibly the most embarrassing story ever told on the podcast.Send your questions and suggestions for co-hosts in to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture - RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. Does the Spire get taller in the summer? Is buttered toast more likely to fall butter side down? Terence comes prepared for this special episode of Talking Bollox with thanks to Science Week, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.Science week is a national celebration of science with hundreds of events for people of all ages taking place across the country from the 9th – 16th November. This year it’s all about “Then, Today, Tomorrow" and the unexpected experiments that brought about progress, and it's safe to say having a professor come in and answer Terence's questions was an experiment of it's own!Associate Professor in Science Education at UCD, Shane Bergin was our guest and he explained how science is all around us and why we should nurture our natural curiosity in it. If you feel inspired after hearing Shane’s passion for science why not get involved in one of the many Science Week events taking place across the country! Even though his parking was almost up, comedian Andrew Ryan stuck around for this bonus episode. His car was clearly on his mind though as he raged against bad drivers and Land Rovers bought on finance. Despite never having seen a full James Bond film, Calvin thinks it would be more fun to be the villain than to be 007. And move over Saipan, there's a new debate about Roy Keane taking over as we ask who would win in a fight between him and Rory McIlroy?Send your listener questions to Talking Bollox@GoLoudNow.com
We kick this episode off with an update on Terence's health, after he convinced himself, through listening to a previous episode, that he will have to play the ukulele during his surgery. Honestly, we're not surprised by it at all. Our guest co-host comedian Andrew Ryan tells us his own experience with surgery, how grief is a gateway to getting a tattoo and how he ended up in Belfast. He tells Calvin about how much he's enjoyed his first month of marriage and almost has Calvin convinced to get engaged... Almost. The jellies are whispering to Willa and he’s speculating on major behind the scenes disputes that have changed the landscape of Irish crisps. One listener is missing Terry (like the rest of us) and wants to know how we can wind him up with a carefully crafted lie when he gets back. Willa was scammed buying some runners and he’s not happy with it. And we get an insight into how stolen art masterpieces end up in man caves in Belgium for bragging rights. How factual it is, well you can decide. Send all of your questions and comments (and guest suggestions) to talkingbollox@goloudnow.com
This week Calvin is joined/invaded by the dastardly due of Willa White and Darren Conway and needless to say madness ensues.Willa gives us an insight into his run ins with Roches Stores back in the day during his previous incarnation as, how shall we say, purveyor of items .They all take a trip down memory lane to Mosney and the 'mooning' pool in the pub and we hear about some of the school tours they took including a trip on a 747 plane!Calvin recounts his bunking into Oasis exploits and everyone is in agreement that the Scots are ALWAYS up for a bit of skullduggery. On the first of our new era of bonus episodes we have Shane Todd continuing his stint in the chair, and he’s taking your questions. We’re taking your questions on what opinions we’ve changed over the years (a surprisingly controversial one, it turns out); how long any of us could go missing before anyone noticed, and what food and drink pairing best represents us.Shane has some wise advice for Calvin on how to handle the ongoing issue of jeans in gyms, and also has some insight into Ronan Keating’s underwhelming haircut history. And Shane pushes for another post-recording dinner, but this time his luck might be in.We’ll keep taking your questions every week, with our guest co-hosts, so keep sending them in to us at talkingbollox@goloudnow.com

Tried this for the first time and the podcast name definitely suits, absolute tripe. Grilling a crime journalist on how she reports someone walking around with a gun as opposed to the bigger question why they were walking around in public with it in the first place. Blinded by their association I think.
one of the best episodes yet 👍❤
absolutely Brilliant podcast I keep passing it on to as many people as I can. perfectly down to earth honest and helpful and funny as hell
