Pushed by a buoyant market and resurgent bitcoin, crypto’s second hottest coin Ethereum has risen beyond its previous peak to hit a series of all-time highs in 2021. In early May, we saw Ethereum hit a new record high above A$3,400, extending its more than 300% rally this year alone. Back in January, this bold call was made by one investor, Megan Kaspar who predicted a spike to the mid-$3000 level, claiming this was being overlooked by investors, Just last week it spiked to its insane high of $5,292 just last Friday well passing its historical performance. Now Megan Kaspar, Magnetic founder, is upping her price range to hit up to $10,000 by the end of the year. Bitcoin is a digital currency created in January 2009 following the housing market crash.  It follows the ideas set out in a whitepaper by the mysterious and pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto. The identity of the person or persons who created the technology is still a mystery.  Bitcoin offers the promise of lower transaction fees than traditional online payment mechanisms and is operated by a decentralized authority, unlike government-issued currencies. To provide insights on emerging technologies within the Blockchain community and the future of work post COVID, today we have with us Karen Cohen, the current Victorian president for Blockchain Australia. She has a strong background in HRM and Operations in a Blockchain environment and also runs her own consultancy Blockconsulting Group, working closely with the start up community in her previous role as General Manager of the Blockchain Centre, which included running Australia’s first Blockchain Incubator. Her illustrious career extends further as she is also the Co-organiser for Women in Blockchain in Melbourne, and the head of HR for Nem Foundation, she is currently running the Women in Fintech program for Stone & Chalk Melbourne.
