Fall is here, and the weather is not the only thing that is cool currently. For episode 114 of Telepathy, Enzo and Anna define what it really means to be "cool" beyond the superficial definition. To do so, they look to people in their lives to determine what characteristics actually make a person "cool." Enzo and Anna note qualities such as confidence and social awareness, and also analyze recent fashion trends to determine what makes someone's personal style "cool." They turn to the internet to assess "cool" public figures, including Billie Eilish, Emma Chamberlain, De'arra Taylor, and Alex Consani. From singers to supermodels, these celebrities all possess "coolness," but why? This is the burning question Enzo and Anna unfortunately needed 50 minutes to answer. Enjoy!
For episode 113 of Telepathy, Enzo and Anna are going deep. This week, they're reflecting on events that occurred in their childhood that have manifested into negative habits today. Anna discusses the impact of growing up shy and feeling excluded in school, while Enzo opens up about navigating femininity in private as a child. They also analyze the concept of "healing your inner child," and note the differences between reconnecting with your favorite childhood media vs. living through new experiences your five-year-old self never had the chance to. Disclaimer: Enzo and Anna are referring to trauma as a "deeply distressing or disturbing experience," and are not referencing any diagnosed trauma disorders.
For episode 112 of Telepathy, Enzo and Anna are adding the second episode to their new series, "normalized addictions." Today, they are talking about none other than the smartphone. Enzo and Anna discuss their attachment to their phones and the tendency to rely on social media to fill time. They also analyze the societal impact of smartphones as our screen times collectively increase. Enzo and Anna dive deep into what makes our phones so addictive and what aspects of our phone usage mirror an addiction. Finally, they map out a plan to reduce screen time to increase productivity, creativity, and real human connection.
For an angel number episode (#111), Telepathy discusses the possibility of protecting your peace *too* much. Enzo and Anna determine what is selfish vs. self-care and the idea that true friendship doesn't exist anymore. After seeing a viral post of a girl reminding everyone that you should attend your friend's birthday party even if you're tired, Enzo analyzes the gray area between taking care of yourself and still showing up for others. Anna explains how her childhood may have shaped her current view of friendship, and how she's learned to maintain a work-life balance in the midst of her relationship. Enzo then concludes that this all may be an issue due to social media, phone addictions, and even hustle culture. Enjoy!
Good thing we like our podcasts un-cancelled, because Telepathy is absolutely back this Tuesday for an important discussion. In episode 110, Enzo and Anna break down the release of Taylor Swift’s 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. As a long-time Swiftie, Anna recaps her initial thoughts and predicts how the album will stand in her rankings. On the other hand, Enzo explains the many facial expressions made during the first listen of the album. Telepathy touches on the poor songwriting accusations, Taylor’s alleged response to Charli XCX, boring melodies, and possibly micro-aggressive lyrics. Nonetheless, Enzo and Anna may disagree about this new album, but their telepathy remains strong. Enjoy!
Is it hot in here, or is it just Telepathy’s burning hot takes? For episode 109, Enzo and Anna join forces to compile a list of their most controversial college opinions. As a recent college graduate and a newly 23-year-old (Happy belated birthday, Anna!), Anna is able to share her advice on how to survive the four years in style. As a new college student, Enzo is here to share all the lore on how the first 6 weeks have been going. From sitting in the front row during lectures to unpopular dining hall opinions, Telepathy truly covers it all in this week’s episode. Additionally, Anna tells the story of how she became an “in-class celebrity,” while Enzo explains her battle with rejection therapy. Enjoy!
For episode 108 of Telepathy, Enzo and Anna are reopening their conversation on concert culture in 2025. They discuss the increasing popularity of TikToks that unfairly criticize an artist's tour. When a two-hour performance is watered down in a fifteen-second TikTok or Instagram reel, artists are left with accusations of lip-syncing, boring choreography, or a lack of stage presence. From Renee Rapp's outfit choices to Lorde on a treadmill, no artist is safe from being "clipped." In addition, Enzo and Anna comment on the difficulty of securing concert tickets and the concept of being "worthy enough" to attend an artist's show. Whether it's a Ticketmaster battle for the front row at Ariana Grande's upcoming tour or a pit full of phones recording, the universal concert experience continues to change. All of that to say...a 45-minute discussion was much needed. Enjoy!
Anna and Enzo have consumed their daily Yerba Mate and iced coffee, so there's no need to worry! They are awake and ready to talk. In episode 107 of Telepathy, Enzo and Anna analyze the normalization of a caffeine dependency and how coffee culture varies from country to country. They note that the United States' reliance on coffee and energy drinks often reflects "hustle culture," whereas "tea time" is viewed as a chance to slow down in the UK. With the concept of "don't talk to me until I've had my coffee," people often rely on caffeine to power through exhausting 9-5s. In typical marketing fashion, many coffee shops have now turned to fancy $8 lattes to fulfill people's caffeine cravings. So, grab your overpriced latte or a nice hot cup of tea and use these 40 minutes of Telepathy time to slow down!
Today, Enzo and Anna are discussing the press and the pressed. For episode 105, their main focus is on the use of controversy and shock value for PR stunts. They analyze recent headlines from Cracker Barrel's "revolutionary" fake rebrand to the unsettling American Eagle advertisement. Enzo and Anna debate whether public figures must be problematic in order to turn heads and rise to fame. From Love Island's Huda to Sabrina Carpenter on all fours, the most scandalous of acts tend to be the ones people talk about. How does this affect careers in the long term, though? All questions answered in this 50-minute discussion!
Contrary to the awkward thirty-second elevator talks discussed in episode 104, Enzo and Anna have 45 minutes' worth of opinions today. This week on Telepathy, they break down the widely accepted concept of "small talk." Often with good intentions, many people engage in small talk, hoping to fill the silence with casual banter. However, it can frequently feel exhausting and repetitive. So, Enzo and Anna felt it was necessary to trace the origins of small talk and offer advice on how to expand conversations beyond just "the weather." Enjoy!
Anna’s here with her very first solo episode while Enzo is busy moving into college (good luck Enzo! We say in unison.) For her episode, Anna has decided to talk all about putting yourself out there— growing up as the “quiet person” in every group, Anna learned a lot throughout her life about how to become more confident in not always having something to say in every conversation. Throughout the episode, Anna talks about what it really means to be an introvert, and if she even is one anymore. She also talks about how she became less afraid to be herself as she went through college. Hopefully this episode will be a good advice sesh, or give you insight into the mind of your quiet friend.
It's episode 102 of Telepathy, and Enzo & Anna have been plotting a new project recently. For the month of July, they logged any dream they could recall to analyze ~exclusively~ on the podcast. Their dreams revealed hidden secrets from their subconscious, and they turned to the internet to draw connections and explore each dream's deeper meaning. Enzo and Anna also discuss the frequency of their dreams and any recurring themes. They even dive into common dream tropes, such as your teeth falling out or the brakes not working in a car! Fun fact: this episode is almost half the length of a REM cycle! Enjoy!
In episode 101 of Telepathy, Enzo and Anna are giving you the Clairo men 101. They define the newly popular term, "metrosexual," and discuss the rise in performative men. From riding the escalator with feminist literature in your left hand and a matcha latte in your right, Telepathy analyzes the recent tendency to appeal to the "female gaze" to attract women. Enzo and Anna also criticize narrow gender roles where black coffee is apparently masculine and a matcha latte is feminine? Though a "Clairo boy" may be a playful term on social media, this term raises many concerns for Telepathy, resulting in 40-minute discussion.
The day has come. Telepathy has officially been with us for 100 episodes. That’s 100 weeks of Anna and Enzo talking about…what exactly? We are still unsure. Throwing it back to day one, the two co-hosts interview each other just like the first day that Telepathy aired in 2024. In this episode, we catch up on everything new in our lives, and reminisce on episodes of Telepathy Past. Catch up with Enzo’s move to college in less than a month, and Anna’s YouTube plan. With a mix of deep and lighthearted questions, we hope you’ll leave knowing a little bit too much about us (per usual.) Here’s to the next 100!
It’s episode 99, and we are so back. Yes, that’s right, it’s our first yass or pass episode in a bit. This time we are talking about movies. Enzo and Anna are Letterboxd aficionados and fans of all things broadway and camp when it comes to movies. Although they have similar taste, it’s put to the test in this episode. Anna discusses her love for the movie Frozen, while Enzo considers whether it’s worth the hype. The two also discuss the talk of a new Ratatoullie movie on the horizon, and opinions on how that will be. Play along and see if you agree with us on these takes!
As Enzo joins Anna as a high school grad, they decide to spill all of their best (take this lightly) advice to anyone currently in the trenches. While you’re in high school, it may sometimes feel impossible to survive. But alas, Anna is here to bring you the comfort in knowing that, as a college grad, high school feels like a distant memory. The two co-hosts also discuss their regrets in high school. Could Anna have been a theater kid in another life? Enzo also gives all the tea on how to deal with friendships throughout the years, and how to communicate in difficult times. If you’re in high school, this is the episode for you (and if you’ve already graduated, time to reminisce.) Episode 97 is out on all streaming platforms!
When adapting a novel into a film or TV show, the creative team may add new details or create fictional characters to enhance the story. But, what if the film is based on a real serial killer? What if they cast a conventionally attractive lead actor? In episode 96 of Telepathy, Enzo and Anna dive into true-crime content and the ethics behind this niche. With the rise of true-crime podcasts and serial killer TV shows, they felt it was necessary to discuss the gray area between a fictional drama and a very real, cold-blooded murder. Enzo and Anna also analyze graphic video games, the use of blood & gore for entertainment, and the overall impact of desensitizing violence. Finally, they mention the problematic acts of profiting from traumatic events and the unsettling label of a “crime-junkie.”
Have you ever been asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Perhaps your answer remains the same, or maybe your dream job has undergone a complete transformation over the years. For episode 95 of Telepathy, Enzo and Anna reflect on this question and discuss the possible consequences of teaching kids to choose a specific career to view as an endpoint. In typical Telepathy fashion, they turn to La La Land to reveal the most valuable life lessons. Why is giving up on our dreams often considered a part of “growing up?” Enzo explains how following your passions or a creative pursuit can be a privilege in a world where we must find careers that allow for a stable financial life. Anna also opens up about her graphic design origin story and how she hopes to grow as a creator in the professional world.
For episode 94 of Telepathy, Enzo and Anna decide to rebrand for season 3 with a new layout and cover! Speaking of cover…Enzo and Anna decided it was time to discuss Sabrina Carpenter’s new album artwork. Her 7th studio album references the concept of a “Man’s Best Friend,” meaning a man and his dog (?). As usual, the internet got bored, so they decided to debate whether Sabrina Carpenter is making an artistic choice for a conceptual album or if she is setting feminism back “many years.” Enzo and Anna analyze feminism in pop music, exploring its evolution and the standards to which pop artists should be held. They talk about how many women in music are highly scrutinized for creativity and how an era of “literalism” may be on the rise.
For episode 93 of Telepathy, Enzo and Anna are reheating the kettle to spill some tea. As ex-private school students, they have many never-heard-before stories to tell. From dress codes to small class sizes, private school definitely made an impact on Enzo and Anna's elementary and middle school experiences. Enzo unpacks the many visits made to the principal's office due to a YouTube video. Anna explains the social cliques and the exclusive nature of the "private school bubble." Though private school made Enzo and Anna feel behind in many aspects of their life, it's time they catch you up to speed on this important lore.
