Daniel was disciplined in prayer and dedicated to the study of “the Word of the Lord.” He knew that in the Word, God speaks to His people, then in prayer we offer our response. The Word should stimulate prayer and prayer should reflect the Word. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/508/29
Daniel was granted rare insights into the way God works out His purposes in the world. Occasionally, he was deeply distressed by what he learned but he carried on with the king’s business nevertheless. Those to whom God reveals truth need to know what to do with it! After the opening stories of Daniel, we come now to the more challenging chapters, which deal with Daniel’s apocalyptic visions. Have you ever seen “the handwriting on the wall”? What did you do? Belshazzar knew about Nebuchadnezzar’s experience, but he chose to ignore it. He surpassed his predecessor in the behavior that had led to his downfall. The writing was on the wall for him long before the fingers of a human hand appeared. We should take note! No matter how high a person may be elevated and no matter how celebrated a person may be, that person must sooner or later come to terms with the fact that the Lord is the MOST HIGH. Like Nebuchadnezzar, everybody needs to hear Him say, “I’m God. And you’re not!” To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/508/29
Life in Babylon was not easy for Daniel and his friends even though they held privileged positions. A bewildered human race is like a man lost in a forest asking, “Father, are you there?” In 1945, at the end of World War 2, Helmut Thielicke, a brilliant theologian, preaching through the Lord’s Prayer to what was left of his congregation in the ruins of his church in Stuttgart said, “Everything will be all right so long as we hear His good voice calling to us above the howling of the wolves, above the sound of branches snapping, above the ominous noises around us. God is always there.”A Christian worldview believes in the Fatherhood of God. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/508/29
From birth, we embark on a lifetime of learning and we learn in a variety of ways. If we assume that we were created by an intentional God who had something in mind when He created us, then clearly we need to learn much about Him and His purposes. Peter said this would “keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:8). An educated man is one who has learned how to learn and never stops learning. But it’s important to note that spiritual wisdom differs from earthly wisdom because spiritual wisdom comes from the Spirit of Christ—from heaven. We all get tired sometimes. And sometimes in our tiredness we get to a point where we, like Elijah, say "I’ve had enough, Lord." Where do we go once we've reached that point? How can we find refreshment and get moving again? In this message, Jill uses Elijah's story to teach us that God alone can refresh us just as He did for Elijah.
