Sales of existing homes climbed 1.2% in October, according to a report released Thursday by the National Association of Realtors. The 1.2% increase in existing-home sales is equal to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.10 million in October. Unsold inventory dropped 0.7% to 1.52 million units. That's equal to 4.4 months' supply. A six-month supply is generally considered a balanced market.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced two judicial appointments on Thursday, naming a new circuit court judge for the state’s 20th Judicial District and district attorney for the 31st Judicial District.

A public records request with the Washington County Sheriff's Office found that video footage of alleged Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson turning himself in no longer exists, a Utah news outlet reported Wednesday.  Kirk, who is remembered for his staunch Christian faith and for founding the conservative grassroots organization Turning Point USA, was assassinated at a rally in Utah in September. Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder, two counts of obstruction of justice, witness tampering and commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child for Kirk's death.
President Donald Trump’s overall approval rating took a hit this month, but one area where the President’s efforts have paid off already is his massive turnaround of the illegal immigration crisis. With illegal border encounters at their lowest number since the 1970’s according to the latest U.S. Customs and Border Protection data Americans have a lot to celebrate, and President Trump to thank for a significantly more secure country. President Trump’s refusal to accept a porous border open border and move to deport illegal criminals is his most popular policy to voters. In the latest Cygnal survey from Nov. 5-6, voters strongly credit Trump for his work to quell the illegal immigrant crisis, support deportation, and say immigration is being resolved but needs more work to be completely solved.
The Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) has reached a deal with the Metro Government of Nashville to move out of the state-owned James K. Polk Cultural Center and across the river to the East Bank.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Georgia, announced Friday night she is resigning from Congress in January after an intense feud with President Donald Trump.
A group of Tennessee parents sued the state over its universal private school voucher program. This year, Tennessee implemented a voucher program that gives students $7,295 to attend a private school of their choice, following the passage of the Tennessee Education Freedom Act in January.
Cody Hibbard is the fifth artist I have interviewed this season on The Road, and, in my humble opinion, he is the most country-sounding of them all. Fortunately, he took that as the compliment it was meant to be. Hibbard is Korean but was adopted by an American family from Oklahoma when he was 13 months old. He grew up on a farm and still lives there today. Like many ranchers/farmers, he would get up early and do his chores before heading off to school.
Though former Lipscomb University professor Lauren Pinkston on Friday launched her independent campaign to become Tennessee's next governor through an article in the Tennessee Lookout, the outlet did not note that Pinkston formerly recruited members and solicited donations for the Forward Party founded by Andrew Yang after he failed to secure the Democratic Party nominations for President of the United States in 2020 and Mayor of New York in 2021.  A now-deleted web page on the Forward Party website reveals Pinkston operated a fundraiser for Yang's political party, and informed donors their money would be used for activity that, "breaks up a two-party system that has gripped our nation with division."
President Trump on Friday said he was giving Ukraine until Thursday to accept a U.S. peace deal to end the war with Russia. Trump was asked on Fox News Radio's “Brian Kilmeade Show” on Friday, “So is next Thursday the deadline, that you gave a loose deadline for Ukraine?” The Hill news outlet reported.
Video footage located by congressional investigators shows the still-unidentified Jan. 6 pipe bomber’s first stop was the Congressional Black Caucus building, but no explosive device was discovered there, raising new questions about the suspect’s goals and motivations ahead of the Capitol riot. The footage was identified by Chairman Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., and his House Judiciary subcommittee, which is investigating the security failures and the unanswered questions of Jan. 6.
A high-powered investment manager with an ownership stake in marijuana facilities allegedly staffed by children and criminal illegal migrants has poured thousands into mostly Democratic campaigns — and even Republican Nikki Haley’s failed presidential bid. Although the staffing of pot farms with children and illegal immigrants may violate several laws, there is no illegality with regard to simply maintaining a marijuana grow site in California.
California Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell launched his governor bid Thursday night on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, portraying himself as the Golden State’s “protector” against President Donald Trump. Swalwell’s leap into the crowded race for California’s governor’s mansion comes shortly after Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Bill Pulte handed the Department of Justice (DOJ) a criminal referral alleging Swalwell engaged in mortgage and tax fraud. The Democrat and former prosecutor has represented a portion of the Golden State’s Bay Area in Congress since 2013, and has established himself as a prominent foe of the president.
Former Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan, Ohio, declined to enter the Democratic primary for the 2026 gubernatorial race in Ohio, setting up a likely match between Democratic candidate Amy Acton and Republican Vivek Ramaswamy. Ryan previously sought one of the state's Senate seats, but lost to now-Vice President JD Vance. His declination likely settles the Democratic nomination, with Acton near-certain to secure the party nod.
Jon Thorp, one of four independent candidates running for the open seat in Tennessee's 7th Congressional District, told The Tennessee Star on Friday that he condemns the mailers sent by the Your Community PAC, a Democratic super political action committee (PAC) that supports Thorp's independent bid while opposing Republican nominee Matt Van Epps.  Thorp made the comments about the mailers to The Star after The New York Times reported the Democrats' super PAC sent the mailers to conservative voters in the district, prompting Thorp to call them an example of "ugly politics" that will confuse voters.
Tennessee Stands executive director Gary Humble on Friday announced the end of his 2026 primary challenge to State Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson (R-Franklin). Humble, who announced his candidacy for State Senate District 27 in September, confirmed his exit from the race in a statement posted to his campaign website.
