A group of Knoxville activists who oppose federal immigration enforcement claimed on Thursday that a man recently detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), after allegedly driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or drugs, is actually member of the activist group who has illegally lived in the United States for two decades.  Allies of Knoxville's Immigrant Neighbors (AKIN) claimed in a press release posted to Instagram that Alejandro Guizar Lozano, 32, who ICE reportedly stated was detained following his sentence of 11 months and 29 days for a DUI conviction, is actually a member of the activist group who was well known to its organizers.

McGuire to the criminal defense attorneys representing Kilmar Abrego Garcia, as prosecutors said it holds information about cooperating witnesses whose identities are protected. McGuire's submission to the court on Thursday said the DOJ would not object to the release of the body-worn camera video from the November 30, 2022 traffic stop stop of Abrego Garcia by Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), nor would it object to the unsealing of a March report by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) about Abrego Garcia, but did assert that the September letter should remain sealed.

A press advisory published by the Shelby County Mayor's Office confirmed that Vecindarios 901 organizer Carlos Ochoa participated in the event alongside Harris and Community Legal Center Immigrant Justice Program Director Colton Bane.

Phill Kline, former Kansas Attorney General and current law professor at Liberty University School of Law, said the Supreme Court’s rejection to hear the case Lee v. Poudre School District appears to stem from what he describes as a troubling trend of lower courts manipulating or omitting key facts in parental rights cases to shield them from Supreme Court review.
