Welcome to That's Incredible! A podcast about the unexpectedly awesome things that are all around us.
In Australia, just about every small town has a 'Big Thing'. The Big Banana, the Big Merino, the Big Prawn, even the Big Potato. So when the Big Sausage was stolen off the roof of the local butcher in Toowoomba, Queensland, the whole town wanted to solve the mystery. The owner of the butcher, Mark Nolan, tells us all about the case of the missing Sausage King.

Australia is FULL of natural wonders. We've got waterfalls that flow sideways, extinct volcanoes, and mountains that are blue, but not for the reason you might think.
But one of the most amazing natural wonders has to be Uluru, so we got everyone's favourite scientist, Dr Karl, to tell us some incredible facts about it. You won't believe where you can find most of Uluru...

Welcome to season 2 of That's Incredible! This season is all about Australia, so of course we had to start with one of the coolest things about Down Under: the animals! From cute koalas to cranky crocs, our animals are the best in the world.
To tell our incredible story this week we went straight to an expert, and the son of Steve Irwin, the most famous wildlife warrior in the world: Robert Irwin! At only 17 years old he's a conservationist and an award winning wildlife photographer, and he even lives in a zoo! He tells us about his two favourite Australian animals, and the first time he met a croc when he was only two years old!

Welcome to That’s Incredible! A podcast about the unexpectedly awesome things that are all around us.
On today's episode, we're looking at the fascinating world of science!
Being curious and noticing things is what scientists do every day. They want to know why the world around us looks and feels the way it does and they’re REALLY curious. They like to look under rocks to see what lives there, they want to learn about what’s living in the lint in your belly button and they want to know what’s going on in outer space.
When a scientist comes home at the end of the day they might have discovered something no-one else has ever known before. How amazing is that!
And today we’re going to meet a scientist whose office is one of the hottest and scariest places in the world, a volcano.
Ready? Let's go!
ACTION ITEM
Time to put on your lab coat and take what you’ve learned in this episode out into your everyday!
Have you heard of Citizen Science? It’s where people, just like you, do things to help scientists collect data!
It might be counting the number of birds in your backyard or going for a walk in the forest and collecting some fungi or finding samples of possum poo and sending it to a lab (you might want to wear gloves for that one).
The Citizen Science website (https://citizenscience.org.au/) lists hundreds of science projects you could be a part of.

On today’s episode, we're going to explore the delicious world of food!
We're chatting to comedian, Mikey Robins who wrote a book all about the amazing things people eat all over the world. He’s going to tell us about the wacky world of competitive eating and we're going to learn lots of cool facts about the stuff you put in your belly every day.

Now it’s time to take what you’ve learned out into your everyday life.
One of the really wonderful things about food is it’s so different depending on where you are in the world. Trying different cuisines and delicacies is an awesome way to get a taste of different cultures but you don’t have to travel to do it!
Choose a food from another country you’ve never tried and ask a grown up to help you find it in your hometown. Maybe there’s a sushi train near by and you can try eel or raw fish! Or maybe you’ve never had a crepe, which are popular in France.
Be as adventurous as you like or, go one step further...find a recipe and try to make at home.
Send us a photo of the interesting international food you tried at podcast@mamamia.com.au.

I think we can all agree that holidays are pretty exciting. Heading away with your family or friends, getting to see a different part of the country or maybe, a different part of the world! Do you have a favourite part of a family holiday? Is it packing the car full of snacks for the trip? Taking off on a plane? Building a sandcastle on the beach? Or just hanging out with your family?
Do you do adventurous stuff like bushwalking, kayaking or skiing? Or do you prefer to holiday closer to home and spend time hanging out with your friends and family?
Well, today you’d better pack a warm jacket because we’re going on an adventure to the top of the highest mountain in the world!
Ready? Let's go!
ACTION ITEM
Time to take what you’ve learned today out into your everyday. Have you heard of postcards? Or have you ever sent one to someone when you were on holiday? Before emails, everyone used to send postcards when they were on holiday. And did you know you don’t actually have to buy one from a shop? Any piece of paper the size of an envelope can be a postcard if you just put a stamp on it!
We’d love you to send us a postcard either from somewhere you go on holiday or from home. You can design one yourself with drawings of where you’ve been or improvise with something you find around the house that might make a cool postcard.
Take a photo of it and send it to us at podcast@mamamia.com.au so we can find out more about the traveling you’ve done!
Maybe you went on a mini-adventure to the local park or somewhere close to home? Adventures don’t have to be far away to be exciting! So we’d love to get a postcard from you telling us all about your little or big travels.

Download the FrogID app (https://www.frogid.net.au/) and head outside tonight to see if you can record some frog sounds. You’ll be amazed at how many different sounds they make!
If you go through the app you’ll hear frogs croaking, barking, even whistling and if you manage to find one, take a picture and send it to us here at podcast@mamamia.com.au.

Welcome to That’s Incredible! A podcast about the unexpectedly awesome things that are all around us.
Today we’re going to be looking at something that’s a very big part of your life...technology!
Take a look around you at all the little gadgets and tools you use every day. Everything from a smartwatch to an iPhone to your TV remote was invented by someone clever. So today we're going to learn some awesome stuff about technology and find out what everyday life will be like 50 years from now!
So let's go!
ACTION ITEM
There’s an American guy who draws really elaborate inventions called, Rube Goldberg.
His device for washing a window involved leaving a banana skin on the floor so a man would trip on it, causing him to fall on a rake which tossed a horseshoe in the air which landed on a rope that tilted a watering can that wet a mop and woke up a dog who knocked over a sign that fell against the mop and made it wipe a window.
You can find his cool inventions here...https://www.rubegoldberg.com/rube-the-artist/gallery/
Do you reckon you could design something similar? It doesn’t have to be that complicated, maybe it’s just tying a hairbrush to your dog’s tail to make an automatic hair brushing machine when your dog wags its tail?
Use your imagination because that’s exactly what you need to be a good inventor!
Draw us a picture of your invention and send it into podcast@mamamia.com.au. We’d love to see how your inventive mind works!

Welcome to That’s Incredible! A podcast about the unexpectedly awesome things that are all around us. Things you might never have noticed before!
Have you ever gone a whole day without hearing any music? I bet you haven’t! Music is everywhere. On the radio, outside when birds are singing, in movies, computer games, even that awful sound that comes from the bathroom when dad’s having a shower!
In this episode, we're going to learn some awesome facts about music and we'll hear from Lucy Durack about what it was like to sing in front of The Queen!
ACTION ITEM
Make some music!
Find anything around the house that makes a noise and play your own tune on it. Maybe you can make a twang on some rubber bands or fill a bottle with some water and blow across the top of it to make a wind instrument.
Or you can just hit some pots and pans with a spoon!
Make a recording or a video of it and send it to us at podcast@mamamia.com.au.
