[S1] EPISODE 34: WHY MARRIAGE IS THE BEST OPTION FOR MEN?
In this episode, we speak about what it really takes to be a happy husband—a journey shaped by sacrifice, legacy, and the quiet, unspoken wisdom passed down through generations. Growing up with parents who have been married for over 30 years, Khaya Thusi reflects on how in his father’s retirement & newfound openness he has inspired him to work harder, not only to provide for his own children but to leave a lasting legacy.
Marriage, he says, isn’t just about one grand heroic gesture but about the daily commitment to live for one’s family, surrendering ego and opening up for God to work on his heart as a man. Marriage is designed to refine us, placing healthy boundaries around our lives and shifting our focus from self-centered goals to building something greater with our spouses.
These boundaries—grounded in faith, tradition, and law—challenge us to become men who live up to the responsibility of fatherhood and partnership. In moments when the journey feels tough, it’s those boundaries that keep us grounded, helping us grow through the struggles and reminding us of the beauty and stability that committed love brings. Real love, after all, is about finding strength in the restrictions and realising that growth requires both sacrifice and intentionality.
Finally, with two decades of marriage combined, Blaque & Khaya share hard-earned insights on what it takes to grow as a husband, father, and man. We share lessons learned about the value of vulnerability, communication, and dreaming as a team. We’ve faced challenges together with our wives, made mistakes, but emerged stronger. This episode unpacks these lessons—everything from intimacy and patience to the joy of seeing love deepen over the years.
It’s an honest, inspiring look at how marriage not only changes but refines, bringing out a calibre of love and leadership that only comes through years of committed growth.

[S1] EPISODE 33: HOW READY ARE YOU FOR MARRIAGE?
In this episode, we dive into the privilege of intergenerational involvement in preparing young men for marriage. We discuss the importance of shaping boys early on, not just to find a wife, but to grow into husbands with a clear vision for their marriage. It’s not enough to look for a "modern" partner or a "traditional" role; husbands need wives who speak into their lives, offering wisdom and intellect that influence their growth as men.
The first two years of marriage are critical, and too many husbands fail during this period due to uncommunicated expectations and a lack of preparation for the significant change a marriage brings. Karabo Rasebitse touches on the reasons behind marital breakdowns, including the common focus on childhood traumas for infidelity.
Men often lie to themselves about sex being purely physical, failing to realize the emotional weight it carries. A husband must take responsibility for his wife, setting boundaries in old friendships to protect his marriage, and learning to embrace vulnerability, despite how society has socialized men to repress emotions. Marriage, as we uncover, is a beautiful chaos where two worlds collide to create something new.
Husbands need to find solid male friendships to lean on during the journey, creating a support system of three to four men who can carry them through tough times and hold them accountable. This episode offers an honest look at how early grooming and intentional relationships can help men transition smoothly into the life-altering experience of marriage.

In this episode, we get into the unique challenges of navigating the instability of non-traditional careers while maintaining the same level of responsibility as those in more traditional, stable jobs. Balancing financial uncertainty with building a secure future, especially within a marriage, requires transparent conversations about money, dreams, and long-term goals.
How can one thrive in both personal and professional spheres through careful planning and strong communication with a supportive spouse? Bongani Baloyi reflects on the value of consistent relationship check-ins, for him and his wife, the "7th of every month" meetings, ensure that they are both growing together, tackling issues head-on, and staying aligned through open communication, especially around finances because of how unpredictable his industry is.
Through personal anecdotes, such as transitioning from catching trains to now driving with his wife, Bongani emphasizes that marriage and being an entrepreneur are journeys of growth. Despite financial ups and downs, they remain committed to one another, celebrating milestones with love and faith in God’s provision.

EPISODE 31: ARE YOU SEEING THE BIGGER PICTURE IN EVERY ARGUMENT?
In this episode, we explore the heart of conflict resolution in marriage, focusing on how couples can navigate differences with intentionality and grace. Conflict is inevitable, but resolving it requires maturity, accountability, and understanding each other's unique approaches—whether one processes slowly or prefers to address issues immediately. We also discuss the influence of our upbringing, the power of forgiveness, and how to move forward with wisdom.
VTJ Masakona of Calvary Christian Church dives with us deep into tough topics like intimacy and loss, emphasizing that sex is about giving, not transactions, and that grace should be extended even when it’s hard. He highlights the importance of nurturing affection, not giving room for division, and the value of sacrificing for each other in ways that lead to true oneness.
Finally, we reflect on Jesus' example of sacrifice and challenge viewers to fight for their marriages. Ask yourself a crucial question, If you had to redo your marriage from scratch, with all that you and your spouse know, would your spouse choose you again? It’s a call to build stronger marriages where conflict deepens intimacy and both partners grow together.

We tackle the hard truth about accountability in relationships, how to handle conflict without hijacking moments of vulnerability, and why forgiveness is essential for lasting connection.

[S1] EPISODE 29: HUSTLE CULTURE
It’s no secret that men face a lot of pressure, particularly the challenges of stress and fatigue. In this episode, we explore the importance of using creativity to elevate stress, peer mentorship, and the critical need for black men to take their health seriously—whether that means supplements, better habits, or simply being part of a community.
As black men in South Africa, the burden of disease and the alarming rise of substance abuse have reached critical levels, especially among those who feel isolated and without community support. We need to prioritize our health, not only physically but mentally, and take serious steps to address how we cope. As men, it's easy to bury ourselves in work, justifying long hours and the grind by the paycheque, but true accountability lies in managing our time effectively, especially as husbands and fathers.
It’s about understanding that our mental health is like a pressure cooker, and if we don’t find creative outlets or mentors to help, we risk letting that pressure boil over.
As a full-time doctor, husband, father of two sons, and content creator, Dr Khuliso Ramashia knows firsthand the demands that come with trying to balance everything. It's not just about being busy; it's about being intentional with your time. The truth is, it’s easier to work than to be present at home, but being a provider doesn't make you a great husband.
The weight of responsibility can trick us into thinking we’re doing enough, but if our families are suffering, what are we really achieving? Dr Ramashia’s goal is to help bridge the gap in medical information access and inspire men to step up in their roles, not only in their careers but in their homes and communities. Raising two sons who have a diverse heritage in South Africa means he is constantly navigating how to help them embrace their identity in a complex society. He wants to give them the tools to grow as proud brown boys, grounded in their rich background. His passion for giving his all to everything he does drives him, hence he refuses to be celebrated as a great doctor who couldn't take care of his own family.

[S1] EPISODE 28: PUBLIC LOVE, PRIVATE BATTLES
In this episode, Thabang "Banger" Mvuyane shares his deeply personal journey from Married at First Sight, a reality show that dramatically reshaped his life. Frustrated by unsuccessful dating experiences, he joined the show in search of something genuine, but what unfolded went far beyond his expectations.
The cameras captured his early arrogance, which marriage quickly humbled, forcing him to re-evaluate his understanding of love and commitment with a woman he had just met. The challenges of getting to know each other while constantly being filmed were just the beginning. The couple faced personal battles as well, navigating the awkwardness of on-camera arguments and the harsh reality of online trolls. Beyond the glitz of reality TV, they were left to manage not only their relationship but the weight of public scrutiny, as what was shown on screen didn’t fully capture the complicated reality they lived off-camera.
In this episode, he reflects on the profound lessons learned throughout the experience, including his public missteps, such as breaking up with his wife on national television. He opens up about the emotional baggage both he and his wife brought into the marriage, the discovery of her communication with an ex, and the maturity the marriage brought him. This story sheds light on the hard truths of growing within a marriage witnessed by millions and the deep personal transformation that followed.

We are privileged to be joined by Kgabo Legora, who takes us into the world of a husband and father who bravely faces the realities of depression.
After experiencing a significant family event that triggered his mental health struggles, he discovered that his family lacked the language to process what was happening. Despite trying therapy in his teens and having a terrible experience, meeting Jesus at 18 became a pivotal moment that reshaped his life. This episode explores how his faith, coupled with the support of his close-knit community, has played a vital role in his journey to not just survive, but thrive as a husband, father, and business owner.
We’ll hear about the challenges he’s faced, from the toll depression and anti-depressants took on his body image to the burnout cycles and multiple attempts to overcome his lowest points. Through his lens as a freelance photographer, we explore how creativity has become a healing outlet, allowing him to express and fight against the darkness. In a marriage spanning a decade, he’s learned that to be healthy for his wife and kids, he needs consistency in life, not just in his relationship.
We hope you will walk away inspired by his determination to live a full life. He dreams of being emptied out by the time he leaves this earth, giving all he can, not only to his family but also to the world. Despite his unconventional story and ongoing battles, this episode celebrates the grace and resilience that have carried him through—and the profound hope he holds for his four children.

In this episode, we delve into the complex journey of Koketso Molaolwe the leader behind Mmuso Worship and Mmuso Church, who transitioned from being a club DJ and A-type leader to a husband and pastor.
Raised in a turbulent environment where his father was never married to his mother, the scars of rejection and the aftermath of an affair shaped his early life. He shares how these experiences led him to stop relying on people at some point in his life, and how he eventually found himself grappling with the realisation that he might wake up being more of a narcissist than he ever wanted to admit.
As a husband, he had to confront the harsh reality that his wife, who takes no nonsense, wasn’t going to be impressed by his façade. He feared waking up one day with the realization that she had married a man more in love with his image than with her. The episode explores his struggle to balance the demands of ministry and marriage, highlighting moments where his family needed him to be a better husband than a better pastor.
He shares candidly about the challenges of moving in with his in-laws and the tough decision to prioritize his family over ministry. Through it all, he reflects on the lesson that while our wives don’t need to be overly excited, they do need to feel valued and present. This episode is a raw and honest look at the dangers of not knowing one's own weaknesses, and the importance of striving for health and authenticity in all areas of life.

[S1] EPISODE 25: IS THERE A FUTURE FOR HUSBANDHOOD
In this episode, we explore why more and more young men are becoming skeptical about marriage. We dive into the real-life reasons behind this shift, from the pressures of today’s economy to changing relationship dynamics that have made marriage feel less appealing.
Through personal stories, the two young men, Michael-John and Lethu we sit with help us get to the heart of why marriage isn’t what it used to be for many of their peers. We also touch on the role of sex and the impact of "hook-up" culture on young men's views toward marriage. With casual encounters becoming more normalized, many men are finding it easier to fulfill their physical needs without the commitment that marriage traditionally entails. This shift in how sex is approached has left some men questioning whether marriage is necessary or even desirable, given the immediate gratification that the hook-up culture offers.
Additionally, we explore how online dating has reshaped the landscape of relationships, making it both easier to meet people and harder to settle down. With endless options just a swipe away, many young men feel less urgency to commit to one person for life.
This constant access to potential partners has contributed to a mindset where marriage feels less like a necessity and more like just one of many options in a sea of possibilities.

EPISODE 24: GENTLE MASCULINITY
In today’s episode, Justice Mukheli reflects on his transformative journey from a rough upbringing to becoming a man who values authenticity and emotional vulnerability. Growing up in a Soweto he learned the importance of avoiding bad financial decisions while staying true to his roots and future goals. Finding his wife was a turning point, teaching him the value of showing up as his true self, without relying on material possessions or role-playing to fit into a mold.
Unlike many relationships the COVID-19 pandemic deepened his bond with his partner, leading to them being married. He shares how a positive outlook can shape a marriage unexpectedly, helping him transition from a hardcore kasi guy to embracing his gentle side.
There’s also so much emphasis on expressing love and honesty as acts of courage that define true masculinity in this episode. Lastly, he helps us reframe what we think of generational wealth, that it isn’t just about money but the legacy of love, honesty, and authenticity left behind.
Through his story, we explore how these values have strengthened his marriage and redefined what it means to be a man today.

S1] EPISODE 23: THE HUSBAND IS A DYING BREED
For a long time, pastors have been these untouchable figures, with their marriages only visible from the church stage. Rarely, if ever, did we get to see them in everyday life with their wives and children. This lack of access made it hard for many of us to connect with their advice, leading us to follow anyone willing to expose their lifestyle—often, unfortunately, one that wasn't worth emulating.
That’s why we need to give a huge shout-out to Israel Phiri for being open about his first ministry—his role as a husband. He’s got some incredible insights on relationships and, with a strong online presence, he’s inspiring many husbands to step up and take their roles seriously.
You don't want to miss this one! It's full of deep reflections, laughter, and honest takes.

JUST HUSBANDS NOT SUPERHEROES
The title of this episode perfectly captures the essence of our conversation with Nat, a genuine, down-to-earth, and sober-minded husband who is refreshingly honest about his feelings and thoughts.
Over the past 12 years, Nat’s humility has not only contributed significantly to the success of his marriage but has also been shaped and refined by it. Ego trips are all too common among husbands, leading to immense strain on marriages due to unchecked or bruised egos. While it's certainly not easy to manage pride, it's crucial for the well-being of our wives and families. We must regularly keep our egos in check to avoid causing emotional harm to those we love.
This episode invites you to pause and rethink how you approach your marriage, offering insights on how humility and self-awareness can pave the way for a thriving, harmonious relationship.

RIDE TILL THE WHEELS FALL OFF
I've recently been deeply focused on exploring what true oneness looks like in marriage. After all, marriage is fundamentally about becoming one with your spouse. As a husband, you make a daily choice to grow and solidify this oneness with your wife. Pulling in different directions is a sure way to create distance and potentially end the relationship.
In this episode, we are thrilled to have Loyiso Bala join us to define and share how he and his wife have cultivated oneness and developed a healthy partnership in their marriage.
Loyiso and his wife have also worked professionally together practically their whole marriage, so, how have they managed to keep everything together and achieve such remarkable growth in both their family and business.
This conversation also delves into the themes of legacy, fatherhood, and faith. It was an absolute pleasure to have this legend sit across the table with us, offering his insights and experiences.
