In this episode we dive straight in with our very first film review, and what better movie to review than Marvel’s long-awaited 'Black Widow' starring Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, and David Harbor as an estranged family of Russian spies. They’re brought together after the events of Captain America: Civil War to discover the mind-control mysteries of the Red Room. Listen to find out our hot takes, cold takes, and poetic summaries of the highly anticipated backstory of one of the original Avengers. And once you listen...do you agree or disagree with our ratings? Did you think Black Widow was a smashing eight out of eight spider legs, or a mere stubby two legs? Tell us all about it on our Twitter page, @TheVerseCast where also post news, announcements about the pod, and collect listener questions. After a slight absence we are back to guide you into The ‘Verse! – a podcast where we visit different corners of the pop culture and cinematic universes from Marvel, Star Wars, DC, and beyond! Your guides are a ragtag group of co-hosts. Norm, Bridget, Lucas, and Emilia, along with their robotic sidekick Kronsworth, look to entertain, inform, and provide an escape from the everyday grind as they take you through – The ‘Verse! This week we wrap up our coverage of Marvel’s Loki with a Double Feature covering the final two episodes of the Disney+ series. You read that right - a DOUBLE FEATURE! The members of the Squad have been airing their predictions/theories all season and now it is time to see just how accurate we have been. It seems the ship has gone through a wormhole or something so Bridget and Kronsworth are absent from the episode. Or are they? Listen to the entire episode to find out.
This may just be our best episode yet. We break down the emotional rollercoaster that was episode 4 of Disney+’s Loki. Flashbacks, big reveals, strong female characters, pruning, it’s got it all! Listen on for some Easter eggs, both musical and comic book related, as well as some major theories for the last two episodes of the season. In our news section, we cover the cancelation of HBO’s Lovecraft Country and their upcoming Last of Us series, spoiled Spidey-Suits, and TomDaya. We also cover our favorite Fourth of July traditions (hint: it’s all about family and natural disasters). Plus we look at The Empire Strikes Back through the eyes of a Star Wars newb. If you stick around, you might hear another one woman show fit for a Jedi...pew pew. Follow us on Twitter @TheVerseCast where we post news, announcements about the pod, and collect listener questions. You can also follow @Screenradar on Twitter, Facebook, & Instagram.
We discuss each of our very different reactions to the very contemplative and very Whovian episode 3 of Disney+’s Loki. Did you love or hate this episode? Either way we have some theories for you that’ll have you questioning everything. We also discuss the official Shang-Chi trailer drop and its reveal of the Hulk villain Abomination, Apple TV+’s upcoming Foundation TV series, goin’ back to “da moovies” with F9, and the unusual and mundane perils of acting on an Indiana Jones set. If you stick around, you might just get to hear the most difficult post-credits scene ever recorded... Follow us on Twitter @TheVerseCast to tell us what you thought of Loki and stick around to ask us questions, read up on the latest cinematic universe news, and stay up to date on the pod. You can also follow @Screenradar on Twitter, Facebook, & Instagram.
In this episode we continue our coverage with episode two of Disney+’s Loki and its shocking villain reveal. It’s prime time to start theorizing. Mephisto anyone? We also share our strong opinions on whether or not Harrison Ford should be de-aged for Indiana Jones, and take an exciting look ahead at developments in the Star Trek and John Wick cinematic universes. Tune in for listener mail in The ‘Verse Transmissions where we share our sidekick wishes and a bit of infinity stones trivia. Tell us, which superhero are you most interested in fighting beside? Follow us on Twitter @TheVerseCast to tell us! We also post news, announcements about the pod, and collect listener questions. You can also follow @Screenradar on Twitter, Facebook, & Instagram. Finally, if you stick around, you might catch post-credit scene... it might be a Thor theory you probably never heard before.
We begin our coverage of Disney+’s LOKI and explore how Marvel plans to set up the new generation of big bads after Thanos...with the help of our ever-charming God of Mischief. Tune in for some reviews that range from mixed to marvelous, and major theories and easter eggs. We also cover Star Trek, He-Man, Spiderman, AND Lord of the Rings in a news section that takes us from one end of the cinematic multiverse to the other. And if you stick around, you might get an earful of...something. Wow... Follow us on Twitter @TheVerseCast where we post news, announcements about the pod, and collect listener questions. The ‘Verse Squad chats with Invincible showrunner Simon Racioppa about his early inspirations, partnership with Robert Kirkman, and his team’s dedication to creating a faithful adaptation. The squad reviewed Invincible in episode 12 and gave it five stars across the board, so we were thrilled to have this opportunity. Curious to hear who Simon thinks could take Omni-Man in a fight? Tune in! Invincible is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
This week we dive headfirst into Amazon Prime’s Invincible. If you haven’t seen it yet, have no fear! We included both a spoiler-FREE and a spoiler-FILLED discussion of this incredible animated and action-packed series featuring a stacked voice cast that includes J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, and Steven Yeun AND Seth Rogen, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells, and even Mark Hamill! Yes, THAT Mark Hamill! A friendly warning, though. Invincible is an animated series, but it is NOT for kids, like absatootinlootly NOT for kids! We also cover casting news for upcoming MCU projects, Chris Hemsworth’s ever-expanding arms, and how weird of a movie Borderlands is probably going to be. Stay tuned for the ‘Verse Transmissions (listener mail) to hear some Star Wars hot takes, an iconic Norm rant, and a very disappointing robotic display. Do you think there’s hope for our padawan? We also discuss the upcoming Netflix series based on Neil Gaiman's Sandman, and chat a little more with our VERY FRIENDLY and HIGHLY INTELLIGENT NEW FRIEND Kronsworth (he made us write that - send help!). And if you stick around, you might catch just catch our longest post-credits scene yet... (which we highly recommend), stay tuned for a super special episode of the ‘Verse! headed your way with the show’s co-creator Jordan Blum.  And speaking of special guests, the ‘Verse Squad officially has a new member: Kronsworth, the (evil?) robot who delivers our mail, cleans the ship, and makes the occasional concerning quip. The 'Verse! Squad sat down with the team from VFX studio MARZ (Monsters Aliens Robots Zombies) , who brought WandaVision to life. We had a great conversation with co-President Lon Molnar and CG Supervisor Anthony De Chellis , who gave us an inside look at the magic behind the popular series. Molnar and De Chellis talked about how they started their careers, secretive on-set environment, future projects, and  delved deep into the effects that really made WandaVision work. Some are obvious, and others are fine, but critical details that you’d never catch. Tune in to hear about them! Monsters Aliens Robots Zombies (MARZ) is a premium VFX studio delivering feature-film quality on TV timelines. Outside of WandaVision, you can see their work on critically acclaimed shows like Watchmen (HBO), The Umbrella Academy (Netflix), The Expanse (Amazon Prime), Living With Yourself (Netflix) and more. The 'Verse! Squad sat down with the one and only Henry Jackman, a composer, conductor, arranger, pianist, musician, and songwriter. Listeners would probably know him best for his unforgettable work in the MCU, composing music for ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ and ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.’ As if that weren’t enough, he also scored Kick-Ass,’ ‘X-Men: First Class,’ ‘Big Hero 6,’ ‘Kong: Skull Island,’ the ‘Kingsman’ films, most recently AppleTV+'s ‘Cherry, to name a few. We explore his career path, the MCU symphonic universe, how he develops his sound, and more. Mr. Jackman was an absolute pleasure to have on the show and he was incredibly generous with his time, even sitting down at the piano to play us through some of the superhero (and villain) themes he’s written. We really think you'll enjoy this one. We sure did. Grab some headphones and jump into The (Extended) 'Verse!
