Adara is the author of Loving YourSelf FREE of Charge: Clearing the Emotional Blocks That Stop You!, published by Rainbow Creators in 2010. Adara's story took a dramatic turn in December 2002, when she found herself seriously ill in a hospital and believed she might be dying. According to her account, what she learned during that experience—and through a series of experiences she describes as near-death experiences over the following seven years—changed the direction of her life. A home-health nurse who had watched other patients die from the same infection reportedly encouraged Adara to put what she had learned into a book. In her work, Adara presents techniques intended to help people recognize emotional reactions, limiting beliefs and unresolved experiences that she believes can interfere with creativity, relationships, vitality, business performance and personal fulfillment. She subsequently worked as an executive coach, author and speaker, particularly with entrepreneurs seeking to overcome emotional and performance barriers. Hartung is the author of Create Marketplace Disruption: How to Stay Ahead of the Competition, in which he developed what he calls The Phoenix Principle—a management philosophy arguing that successful organizations must continually adapt to changing markets rather than become locked into strategies and practices that worked in the past. Hartung has held executive positions in Fortune 100 companies and worked with consulting organizations including Boston Consulting Group and Coopers & Lybrand. Hartung's Phoenix Principle challenges what he calls the “Defend & Extend” mentality—the tendency of organizations to protect existing products, practices and business models even as circumstances around them change. His alternative emphasizes recognizing marketplace shifts, challenging institutional “lock-in,” creating disruptions and establishing what he calls “White Space,” where new approaches can be tested and developed. The central lesson is straightforward: long-term survival depends upon an organization's willingness to recognize change and adapt before a crisis forces it to do so. During this conversation, Rob and Adam examine those principles through the lens of the catastrophic BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The April 20, 2010 explosion killed 11 workers and initiated the largest marine oil spill in U.S. history. Subsequent litigation found BP grossly negligent in connection with the disaster, and the company ultimately faced tens of billions of dollars in settlements and other costs. Join Rob McConnell as he welcomes The Right Reverend Brian C. Keneipp, longtime leader of the American branch of The Aetherius Society, an international spiritual organization founded in London in 1955 by Dr. George King. Keneipp serves as Executive Secretary/Executive Director of the Society's American Headquarters and as a Bishop in the Aetherius Churches. His original appearance with Rob is preserved in The 'X' Zone archives as “Executive Secretary of the US Aetherius Society.” Keneipp first met George King in 1978 and subsequently worked closely with him for more than two decades. Beginning in 1987, he became one of King's chief full-time aides, assisting with administration and recording and transcribing messages that King and the Society believed were communications from advanced extraterrestrial intelligences. Following King's death in 1997, Keneipp continued his work with the organization and became Executive Secretary of the American Headquarters in 2004. He was consecrated as a Bishop in the American jurisdiction of the Aetherius Church in 2010. The Aetherius Society combines elements of yoga, Eastern spirituality, Christianity, metaphysics and UFO beliefs. George King claimed to have received communications from advanced extraterrestrial beings, including an intelligence called Aetherius, and taught that spiritually advanced extraterrestrial “Cosmic Masters” were assisting humanity's evolution. Keneipp teaches King Yoga and participates in spiritual practices and missions that Society members believe can direct spiritual energy toward humanity and the Earth. Join Rob McConnell as he welcomes Thomas E. Pierce, author of The Last Rose: A True Celebration of Eternal Life, for a profoundly moving story about love, devastating loss, grief and the strength to continue living after unimaginable tragedy. On March 6, 2004, Thomas boarded the Lady D water taxi in Baltimore's Inner Harbor with his wife, JoAnn, and daughter, Lisa. A violent gust of wind struck the vessel, causing it to capsize and throw its 25 passengers into the frigid water. Five people died—including both JoAnn and Lisa. Thomas survived by clinging to the overturned vessel while waiting to be rescued. His book recounts the horrifying events of that day, including a letter written to Lisa by one of the reservists involved in her rescue. Yet Pierce emphasized that The Last Rose was never intended simply to be a book about tragedy. Instead, it became his testimony to what he regarded as the enduring power of love and to the experiences and signs that helped him cope with his grief and move forward with his life. Pierce, who spent his professional life as a computer programmer and consultant, never originally planned to become an author. He later became co-owner of The Legacy, a restaurant dedicated to the memory of his wife and daughter, and increasingly shared his story with others. The Last Rose was published in 2007 and became a finalist in the Spirituality: Inspirational category of the USA Best Books 2007 Awards. Thomas's appearance is documented in The 'X' Zone guest archives under the title “Modern Day Mystic.” Published in 2005, Modern Day Mystic is a 300-page collection of stories and personal experiences dealing with questions that have fascinated paranormal researchers and spiritual seekers for generations. Lyons examines such subjects as prophetic dreams, communication with spirits, enlightenment, psychic phenomena, spoon bending and what he describes as developing “healing hands.” The book presents hundreds of accounts involving mystical and unusual experiences. For Lyons, being a mystic does not necessarily mean withdrawing from contemporary society. He describes a mystic as someone whose existence involves an immersion in what he calls the “Divine Mysteries of Life.” His approach attempts to reconcile ancient mystical concepts with modern life while asking whether extraordinary personal experiences might reveal aspects of consciousness that we do not yet fully understand.
