Dr.Cecilia is a product of Self-Led Discipline and Leadership and what it looks like when applied again and again in life.  She is a pediatric dentist today and she will share what it looks like from her vantage point to see parents and families that put leadership into their core values and how she used it throughout her own life growing up as a high-level competitive gymnast. About the Guest:  Links Website https://ccfdkids.com (https://ccfdkids.com) Social Insta - @cece.in.the.ilm FB - @cecilia.liu.dds Bio I’m a native of North Carolina, born and raised. Growing up I was highly competitive in gymnastics and went on to compete in the collegiate level at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduating, I moved to Wilmington, NC, and started working in a dental office. I was a dental assistant for three years before going to dental school at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. During school, I served as the class president and also had the opportunity to travel to provide dental care to underserved populations. After graduating in 2013, I completed a one-year residency program in Honolulu, Hawaii, and during that time, I found a passion for pediatrics. After Hawaii, I moved to Las Vegas for pediatric residency at UNLV and served as the chief resident from 2015-2016. In 2016, after finishing residency, I returned back to southeastern North Carolina to join the amazing doctors at Coastal Cosmetic Family Dentistry as we opened up the first full-time pediatric dental office in Brunswick County, Coastal Pediatric Dentistry. Even though I finished all my official education in 2016, I’m still constantly striving to develop my knowledge in pediatric dentistry. I completed my board certification in pediatric dentistry in 2019 and continue to dive into continuing education courses every year to help me help parents raise their children to be the best version of themselves. Outside the dental community, I’m an active member of the Junior League of Wilmington, a nonprofit organization that empowers women to create positive changes in the community. Do you remember the sweet innocent quizzes from the good ‘ol times? The ones that told you if this or that was the right shade of lipstick or what kind of car would be best for you? Today quizzes, like so many other things, are more personal and can be more dangerous because they are defining the identity of our children daily.  In this episode, I go over how these simple assessments are finding our kids, the kinds of things they are seeking to define, and how to build against them. What if we cared just as much, if not more, about their mental state when they left the house than their physical state? What if they are leaving to play a sport, spend time with friends or even drive when their mental state is not in a good place. What can we do and how do we do it? You are running around in a basic Tasmanian Devil like tornado of laundry, work, kid's taxi service, meal prepping, and helping the neighbor find their lost cat and your kiddo is just sitting there. When you ask them to help with something the bland and unknowing, probably annoyed, face rises from the entertainment at the moment and says... "what?" Yep. You are not alone. It is happening in nearly every home.  Let me ask... what made you do so much and what is making them do so little?  Why does this gap exist and what can we do about it? Let's chat! Today I have a very special guest on as well and that is my oldest daughter who is 16. She went through a transformational experience this summer that opened her eyes and heart and she shares all about it here! About the Guest: Skyla Harden is a vibrant 16-year-old junior in high school doing dual enrollment at the local community college. She has been in private school, public school, homeschool, Christian school, and now the community college and has thrived academically everywhere while continuously growing in emotional and mental awareness and wellbeing. She has been an entrepreneur in several philanthropic and retail businesses as well as helping with marketing and sales presentations for a widespread eco-friendly company and being employed at a local shop since she was 15. She is the oldest of 4 sisters, enjoys writing, and plans to pursue psychology and therapy as an adult.  About the Host: Nellie Harden is a wife of 20+ years, mom to 4 teen/tween daughters, dreamer, adventurer, servant, multipreneur, forever student, and a devoted teacher, but her ride-or-die passion is her work as a Family Life Coach & Mentor.  Coming from a career background in marine mammal sciences, behavioral work, and a host of big life experiences, both great and not some not so great, she decided that designing a life of purpose and freedom was how she and her husband, along with their 4 daughters, wanted to live.  Her work and passions exist in the realms of family and parent mentorship because she believes that a family filled with creativity, fun, laughter, challenge, adventure, problem-solving, hugs, good food, and learning can not only change a person’s life but is the best chance at positively changing the world.  She helps families build Self-Led Discipline™ & Leadership Into their homes, sets their children up for a wildly successful life on their terms, and elevates the family experience with big joy, palpable peace, and everyday growth! Professors are experts before they teach something. They go to school, get degrees and graduate in order to teach, but in parenthood, we have to teach as we are still learning. What are the 2 keys to doing this? Listen to this episode to uncover these two keys and how your own “quirks” like self-doubt, self-consciousness, anxiety, lack of patience, etc. can be stopped in their tracks so the trait doesn’t have to get passed onto the next generation. When you are in a sport and trying to get better do you need a friend there just telling you, "good job!"? or do you need someone to guide you, refine you, protect your interests and challenge you to give birth to your unique passions, abilities, and gifts? In this episode, we will discuss these 4 parenting pathways that come before friendship. Not instead of, but before, and why each one is imperative to your 6570 experience and their lives of self-led leadership afterward. I saw this sign... "People say all the time, 'I'd die for my children.' Okay, but would you live for them!? Actually live. Make better choices. Take better care of yourself physically and mentally. Your kids don't need you to die for them. They need you to LIVE for them!" and it made me pause. In the work that we do at The 6570, we are helping families build their family experience and the foundation for their child's future for generations to come and that takes intention and clarity. In today's podcast, I go over how to care for yourself, your family, and the world is how you show up to LIVE for your children every day. This is the story behind the creation of The 6570 Family Project Podcast! How did it start? When did it start? WHY did it start?  We were going along in life, checking all the boxes and still feeling unchecked until a big wakeup call cracked the facade of the daily routine and set us searching and building more of what we really wanted with intention. Then I saw how many others were searching too and turned around to help the rest of the mountain!
