The Ace Space is a volleyball podcast presented by the CEV that brings the top players, coaches, commentators and analysts in European volleyball together for conversations about sport and life off the court. Fresh from EuroBeachVolley, Lewie talks through his Viennese experience with Ci and Matt, looking at the incredible achievement of the Beach Volley Vikings Anders Mol and Christian Sørum who followed their Olympic Gold in Tokyo with a fourth straight European crown – a new record for consecutive titles.
The team also make their predictions for who Lewie will be commentating on at the EuroVolley women’s semi-finals, as well as their picks for who will top the men’s podium.
Dave also has a call with Estonian Outside Hitter Robert Taht, who was selected as one of the EuroVolley Ambassadors with his country hosting Pool D. Don’t worry Estonian fans, this was recorded a while back so any references to recovering from surgery are long out of date. They talk through the excitement of EuroVolley coming to town, why he wants to do his talking on the court and Dave has a go at some of the local lingo.

Fresh (well sort of) from his time in Tokyo, Lewie is joined by Matt and they look back at a historic Games for European teams at the 2020 Olympic Games. They discuss each of the four competitions in depth, revealing some of their highlight a well as what happens behind the scenes in the commentary booth!
In an exclusive interview recorded from the Athletes Villiage just prior to the Closing Ceremony, Dan has the chance to talk to Barthélémy Chinenyeze, Antoine Brizard and Yacine Louati about their rise to the top of the podium, and what it meant to take France's first Olympic Volleyball medal!

After leaving Rio 5 years ago with Silver, it has been a long wait for Serbia’s captain and setter try and complete her medal collection by topping the podium at an Olympic Games. Here Maja joins our team and talks in detail about her love for Japan, why she skipped the VNL this year and various aspects of her life away from the court.
Ci asks those random, yet interesting, questions that never knew we wanted to know the answers to until they were asked, and Dave asks as many of the hundreds of fan questions that we received as possible in Ask Me Anything.

Beach Volleyball is again on the Tokyo 2020ne Olympic Games schedule and looking to top their Bronze from Rio are the Dutch World Champions of 2013 Alexander Brouwer & Robert Meeuwsen.
They join Lewie and Ci to discuss their memories of the 2016 Games, how it felt to qualify early for Tokyo 2020 and their expectations for a Games which is inevitably going to be different. As always Ci Digs in, while we also challenge the guys so some player vs player questions and get to know them far beyond their on-court performances. In terms of Volleyball chat, the guys talk about their journey so far, recent results, as well as the influence of their staff and support network.
With half the combined Beach teams coming from Europe, there will be plenty to cheer on as they all take to the sand at a 12,000-capacity custom-built temporary stadium in the Japanese capital's magnificent Shiokaze Park – an event which is sure to be one of the visual highlights of the Games once again. It was a big week for European Volleyball with 197 teams being confirmed in the six European Cup competitions for 2022 and all except the 4th Round of the Champions League onwards being drawn in one day at the Broadcast centre in Luxembourg.
Dan joins Dave and Ci to review the draw and look at some of the exciting match-ups that were confirmed - especially in the CEV Cup Men which looks like being a mini Champions League next season.
Dave also talks to one of the real gentlemen of Volleyball, Middle Blocker Dragan Stanković, about his career to date, being spotted by Lube, the EuroVolley podiums achieved with Serbia and what he is up to now that he has retired from the national team.

Here Lewie and Matt talk to German Beach Volleyball star Karla Borger prior to the Tokyo 2020ne final qualification show down at the Continental Cup Final in The Hague. She looks back at the Silver Medal win at the 2013 World Champs, her Beach Volleyball journey to date and talked in detail about their current level and expectations for this Summers Olympics.

The summer of 2021 will thrill and excite fans all over the world, and it will come to an end with the European Championships, EuroVolley. Each host country has appointed two event ambassadors and here Dave catches up with two from Croatia and Romania to talk about what we can expect from the event, their respective host countries and their teams on court performances.

As the focus shifts from the indoor season to the Summer Season, so starts another Ace Space series. Here Lewie and Ci return with the jump setting Swedes, Åhman & Hellvig, to reflect on them taking Gold at the U22s in Baden this past weekend.

Where the for the first time, in both their and Polish club history, Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN KOŹLE (ZAKSA) triumphed with the CEV Champions League Volley title following a four-set victory over three-time winners TRENTINO Itas of Italy.

Dave, Ci and Dan take some time to look back at Super Finals Verona, and in particular the women's final which saw a thrilling tie-break win for A. Carraro Imoco CONEGLIANO against VakifBank ISTANBUL to secure the first ever European title for the Italian side. Imoco came back from a set down twice during Saturday’s Super Final at the AGSM Forum and from a four-point deficit in the fifth set to triumph victorious.

TRENTINO Itas take to the court for the CEV Champions League Volley 2021 final in Verona this week and a new face in their team this season is Ricardo Lucarelli SANTOS DE SOUZA who has starred for Brazil for nearly decade and has carried on that fine form with the Italian giants this season.
He talks with Dave and Ci chat about the season that has gone, looking at how he has settled in Italy, how Trentino are now fully focused on ending the season on a high, and his thoughts about a massive summer with the National Team.

27 year old Wilfredo Leon is a volleyball prodigy, playing a leading role in the world championships at just 17 years old and dominating the world of club volleyball in the decade after with Zenit Kazan and Perugia. Having coached at VakifBank ISTANBUL since 2008, Giovanni Guidetti has built the foundations for all of their recent successes and 2021 is looking like another promising year for the team who play in yellow. The outspoken Italian joins Dave and Ci for this episode as they look back at the first matches in the Quarter-Finals, as well as chatting about Ci’s adventures so far in Dallas as part of the Athletes Unlimited league.

The lady with the giant leap, Krystal Rivers, joins the podcast on the eve of departing for Kaliningrad for her sides second tournament in the Champions League where there is a spot in the quarter-finals on the line for Allianz MTV STUTTGART.

Maveric and powerhouse outside hitter Salvador Hidalgo is a man of the world, having been born in Russia, brought up in Cuba and with a career on the court in leagues such as Poland, Germany, China, Lebanon and now Turkey.
Dave and Ci find out more prior to his current club Fenerbahçe HDI ISTANBUL taking to the court at the end of the month for the 2nd tournament in Champions League's Pool A.
