The Agent
Description
2022 Webby Award Honoree, Podcast Documentary Limited Series and Specials.
The Agent is the remarkable true story of Jack Barsky, the longest-surviving known member of the KGB illegals program operated during the height of the Cold War. Barsky hid in plain sight in America for 10 years, all the while leading dual lives on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. On one fateful day, he was confronted with an impossible choice.
The Agent is a production of Imperative Entertainment in association with Windjoy and is created, written, produced and edited by Jason Hoch. Narration by Alden Ehrenreich. Executive Producers are Jason Hoch, Jack Barsky and Alden Ehrenreich. Original score by Jasha Klebe. Sound engineering and additional editing by Shaine Freeman.
poor production, each episode is so short and full of ads. the editors tried to do a good job but its easy to get lost and confused. its just overall very average. its not terrible. its not great.
On ep10 using another app. I'm really enjoying this story. I appreciate Jacks honestly when he says what he did at the time was immoral or cruel to his loved ones, and I totally buy that he was a man on a mission where these sacrifices were necessary from the mindset he had at the time. I actually think he started taking a less narcissistic path (which was sort of a job requirement originally) as he progressed, contrary to what the other commenter experienced when listening.
This is a podcast of failure!
Maybe 6 out 10, not so shore. The story at the beginning was so exciting, but after 4 or 5 episodes I noticed that it's not as cool as it should be. Too general about main events and too detailed about unimportant matters. With no doubt Jack Barsky was a kind of person with unique capabilities, but almost the action part of the whole story was removed and became boring 😴.
What a narcissistic piece of shit. I listened for 12 episodes while this a-hole describes himself as a hero of the revolution; the smartest, the most revered by his government blah blah blah. From listening to his version of his awesomeness, I'm left with the understanding that this man played both sides of the iron curtain to his advantage. He left his women and children behind with nary a glance backward. His oozing, self-satisfied gushing over his daughter Chelsea as the reason he chose to stay in the U.S. insults the intelligence of a moron. Jack shows no love for anyone except himself. Poor Chelsea is just a pawn in this sociopath ridiculooffus attempt to appear human, nevermind all his other children and women who are insignificant in this assholes celebration of himself. ugh. I need a million showers to wash off the stench of this monsters story.
Great podcast so far. My mother is from the DDR en literally EVERYONE in our circle of acquaintances/friends/ family knew what the Stasi was up to. I mean half the country turned out to be a secret "Spitzel"/informant. So for Barsky to claim he didn't and just saw them as a force of good reeks of disingenuity, even if he lived in the "Tal der Ahnungslosen". People knew.
looove this podcast! can't wait for the next episode!
