Maybe the original Olympic games and sports origins rules are to blame? Or perhaps a historic lack of visibility plays an important role. Join our Patreon! We have merch!Join our Discord!Tell us who you think is to blame at http://thealarmistpodcast.comEmail us at thealarmistpodcast@gmail.comFollow us on Instagram @thealarmistpodcastFollow us on Twitter @alarmistThe    Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/alarmist. Who’s to blame for the downfall of Al Capone? This week, The Alarmist (Rebecca Delgado Smith) welcomes writer Seth Reiss to take on the downfall of one of history’s most infamous mobsters, Al Capone. And we nailed it! Or did we? If indeed Capone had a downfall, who was ultimately to blame? Did his violent leadership style lead to his eventual demise? Was it the familiar tale of tax evasion? Or is defeat just part of the lifestyle when you’re public enemy number one? Who’s to blame for M3GAN (The Movie)? This week, The Alarmist (Rebecca Delgado Smith) speaks with Actor Farah Merani about the artificial intelligence gone dreadfully awry in the 2023 box office blockbuster M3GAN. Are humans really prepared for the power of AI? Is the lure of convenience clouding our better judgment? Do we honestly think AI and childcare are a good mix? Needless to say, we’re thankful none of the events in this film have happened in real life…yet! They’re joined by Fact Checker Chris Smith and Producer Clayton Early. We know who did it, but could years of steroid abuse give us some insight as to why Chris Benoit took the life of his wife and son before taking his own? Perhaps the pressures of the wrestling industry had something to do with it? New Guest Expert! On this week’s Aftermath, Rebecca speaks with Dr. Gabi Hegerl about her expertise in climate system science and how her research on the record breaking heat waves during the 1930’s in America’s great plains led her to one of their biggest contributing factors, what we now know as The Dust Bowl. Well, more like a big bowl of dust which swept up the country's notion of manifest destiny. Was this wheat bubble also part of our destiny or was it created by poor planning and farming practices? Who’s to blame for the Death of Kurt Cobain? This week, The Alarmist (Rebecca Delgado Smith) keeps things in-house with Producer Clayton Early and Fact Checker Chris Smith to discuss the life, death and legacy of Kurt Cobain. The anti-pop star who forever transformed the music landscape, whose life was cut short at the young age of 27. What were the factors that contributed to his death by suicide. Did the pressure of fame result in a debilitating sense of shame and humiliation? Did chronic pain lead to an unsustainable relationship with drugs and self medication? Who’s to blame for the 1931 Central China Floods? This week, The Alarmist (Rebecca Delgado Smith) welcomes friend and Amaro maker David Bly to discuss the devastating 1931 floods along the Yangtze River in China and the catastrophic loss of life that followed. There’s only so much we can do when Mother Nature slaps us with a deluge of unprecedented weather events, but could better flood control measures have saved more lives? Listening earlier episodes and the guessing game is too much. If you don't know, just stop recording and Google it. Facts 30%, some weird assumptions 70%. I hope it gets better in the future episodes.

Much more professional. There is still too much giggling for my taste (though that might be personal), but the subject matter is light enough for a comedy show and it well-researched and informative, with a good choice of qualified guests. This is streets ahead of the early episodes.

I heard a trailer for this podcast on another podcast and had high hopes. 'Triangle shirtwaist fire' is the first episode I've listened to so far, and it is one of your earliest episodes. I have to say I was disappointed by the amount of nervous giggling and inane, tasteless chit-chat amongst yourselves, and the gossipy, uninformed pre-judgments. What I came for was an in informed analysis and discussion of a tragic incident; not a gossip show. I hope the moments of silence when things 'got dark', made you realise how 'off' the tone was. In your defence, however, I concede that this was something like the second episode of over a hundred. I hope that you have now managed to get over the initial adrenaline burst of recording a podcast with friends, and are putting more quality content per minute into your shows.

by no means do I defend the colonists who came over here with with bad intentions and maybe did things more despicably than I would like but let's be honest that it turned out to be good for all of us. the only reason America is here and I was able to grow up in such a great country it's because Europeans came and defeated the indigenous people. every country is started by a group of people going over to another land and defeating the people that live there so they can take over. It's happened all through history and perhaps will happen again.

This episode is fascinating. It's perfect study of what happens when you're so progressive that you actually start having authoritarian views. The last half of the episode is them talking about throwing people to jail for conspiratorial thinking. While I agree that conspiracy theorist are nut jobs, listening to three liberals seriously discussing criminalising anti-government thought is absolutely hilarious in it's lack of self awareness. The first half of the episode was good, but showcases how half hazard the research for the show is. How in the world can you make a podcast about Heavens Gate and not bring up halley's comet?! Really makes you think what other absolutely crucial information the forgot to read about in other episodes.

I don't have enough time or space to go into the many partially incorrect facts you gave. 1. There were far more reasons than just the moon, waves, binoculars, Captain Smith, etc. 2. There is evidence that the rivets used on the Titanic were of cheap material. Once they reached freezing temperatures, they became brittle and thus were easily breakable. 3. The ocean was calm therefore it was hard to see any waves breaking against the iceberg. 4. The iceberg was made of black ice which would have been hard to see with or without binoculars. 5. While it is partially true that it was thought that too many lifeboats would look cluttered, Titanic was well equipped based on the regulations of that time. The Board of Trade had not updated the regulations since 1896. 6. Maggie Brown was not known as Unsinkable until after the Titanic sank. 7. The reason Captain Smith plowed through the ice field was because that was the known method of dealing with icebergs at the time. He did what he was traine
