We narrowly missed out on the Premier League title, but Kai Havertz’s late goal ensured we ended a memorable season on a high with a victory over Everton. The Toffees, despite having nothing to play for, proved challenging and took the lead through Idrissa Gueye’s deflected free-kick. We quickly responded with Takehiro Tomiyasu finding the bottom corner. We continued to push for the decisive goal, and Havertz delivered with a minute left. However, Manchester City’s 3-1 win against West Ham rendered our result moot as they secured their fourth consecutive league title, finishing just two points ahead of us. Despite this, we achieved record numbers for wins and goals, and amassed 89 points, just one shy of the Invincibles’ record from 20 years ago.

We intensified the pressure on Manchester City at the summit of the Premier League standings with a commanding victory over Bournemouth, extending our lead to four points. Dominating the first half, we capitalized on our dominance when Bukayo Saka converted a penalty just before halftime, his 20th goal of the season, following a foul on Kai Havertz by Mark Travers. In the second half, Leandro Trossard extended our lead, firmly establishing our control over the match. VAR played a significant role, disallowing efforts from Antoine Semenyo and Gabriel, but Declan Rice sealed the win with a late third goal. With another clean sheet, David Raya secured the Golden Glove for the season, affirming our position as serious contenders for the championship with just two games remaining.
