Every one of us will be tempted to go astray is some way today. Jesus understands and he offers help. His help is amazing.
It is easy to debate various aspects of Scriptural Revelation, brilliant minds have had major disagreements regarding the interpretation of scripture, and Biblical doctrine. But one thing is is difficult to debate is that God loves us and that he wants us to love "one another". That is pretty straight forward. If we do have questions about how to love, there are at least 35 direct commands given in scripture about how we are to treat "one another" well. Forgiveness is one of them, "forg...
Jesus makes it clear that food for our physical body is secondary to feeding our spiritual lives on the Word of God. This episode has a few thoughts on how Jesus teaches us to walk in the tension of a physical body that demands to eat and a spiritual life that desperately needs God.
God's will, sometimes is about when and where we should be doing things and there can be some mystery involved is knowing what His will is. More often than not His will is about living my life right here, right now in OEDIENCE to what I know I should be doing. When we pray, Jesus is teaching us that it is a time to bring ourselves into alignment and agreement with what God has revealed. If God has spoken it, we know without doubt it is heaven's way. Heaven's way and our way, heave...
When Jesus teaches us to pray, I believe he gives us a way of taking the conversation from the closet to the stuff of everyday life. Conversing with God is a privilege we can engage in, in the car, on a phone call, in the middle of an argument or disagreement. It centers us in "the One" who has the wisdom, the strength and ability to help us whatever the circumstance. Today's episode offers a simple way of coming to God and embracing his kingdom in any aspect of our lives. There are many ways...
When we prayer it is easy and common to make ourselves the main thing. Jesus reminds us in the Matthew 6 that "GOD" is indeed the main thing and He is the Main thing for our good.
When Jesus teaches his followers to pray, he introduces them to a Heavenly Father who is HOLY. What does that mean for us? Here are a few things to consider.
Prayer is addressed to the "Heaven dwelling" Father. Heaven does not distance us from God, it makes Him present where-ever, and when-ever?
Jesus teaches his followers/students that prayer is a conversation with GOD, God who is OUR FATHER. This has a personal tone that Jesus regularly takes in his own conversations and here shares with us. He shares is it with us all and seems to suggest that prayer is not "private" as we often think of it today, it is an activity we share with each other.
This episode one in a series on Prayer, called "Conversing with God". This series is taken from the Mathew 6 and focuses on what we historically call "The Lord's Prayer". Episode 1 addresses Jesus' instruction about how we should approach prayer. What does it mean to be in the secret place? Why should we pray to a God who already knows what we need before we ask?
My Journery from passion for the church to disillusionment and restoration.
We all have a perspective on everything. The interesting thing is that our perspectives like fingerprints can have similarities, but each is unique. Our perspectives on God and Scripture are very unique to the point that they can have very few similarities. I try to base my perspectives on God as he is revealed in the Bible, but I will acknowledge, that they have been influenced by many people, a myriad of external sources and by my own disposition all of which are skewed by sin. ...
Personal introduction, part 2.
This is an introduction to The Art Angle. My name is Art Fleming, in this episode, I share about who I am and why I am doing this podcast. Scripture is going to be a staple of The Art Angle and in this episode I share from John 15 focusing on abiding in Christ, abiding in His Word and abiding in His love. The Art Angle is my take on the scripture, it is not definitive or complete, I am not that capable. As a 73-year-old retired pastor/chaplain I do have a perspective, and it may be help...
