I am a principal at a school where there is little turnover. I have tried to model behavior and motivate my staff, but there is still a huge group that doesn’t do what is best for kids. When you are interviewing to hire an administrator, how is your interview structured?

How do you handle negative colleagues? If we all talk about constant change needed- when will it actually come from the top? Homework, stand. Tests etc? How do you feel about allowing students in middle school (6-8 grade) to carry their cell phones throughout the day. They are not being used in the classrooms for educational purposes. Our principal feels they aren't safe in their lockers??  How do you handle discussions with parents and teachers regarding a highly disruptive student and the learning/rights of the other students in the class while ensuring the rights and privacy of the child in question?
