Welcome to the aspiring speaker podcast This first episode is all about getting started and moving past procrastination Make sure to subscribe to receive the aspiring speaker audio and video to your mailbox along with exclusive exercises and extended content. My recommendations for moving from procrastination to action: 1. Create a Mini-Goal – what’s that smallest step you can take right now? 2. Make it a routine and build up momentum over time with extended confidence 3. Make a milestone and reward yourself upon completion 4. Be accountable to others and let others in on your goal 5. Involve others allowing their skills, motivation, and presence push you forward Are you a new Toastmaster? Here's how to use these tips 1. Start with a small role and sign up for it 2 weeks in advance. Then do it again with a little bit bigger of a role. Now write your name down to do your first speech even if it's 4 weeks out. 2. Take a small role each week and make sure to put your hand up for table topics. A role like SAA which can welcome the Toastmaster (MC) at each meeting can also be an amazing benefit to that building confidence in front of an audience. 3. When you finish a level or use your skills to complete a goal outside the club, celebrate. Make sure your club hears about your success as well. 4. Tell others you wish to take on this goal. A mentor can be assigned to you to assist with ideas, advice, and a push as you need to reach your goal. 5. Involve someone else in your speech or role so you show up together or make a common goal to assist each other in moving forward.
