There comes a time in most parents lives where they ask the question... should we have another kid? If the answer is yes, you can't always guarantee you know, or get, what you've signed up for. That's exactly what happened when ABC Journalist and Podcast Host Matt Bevan and his wife Rachel looked to expand their family... they got a lot more than they bargained for.  THE END BITS Subscribe to Mamamia Listen to more episodes of The Baby Bubble here For your chance to win a $50 gift card, complete our survey here  If you’re looking for something else to listen to why not check out our award winning parenting podcast How To Build A Human.Or click here to listen to the hosts of Mamamia Out Loud open up about creativity and how they stay inspired. If you hadn't heard, babies generate a lot of waste. Like, more waste than we care to admit. So naturally swinging from one extreme (environmental disaster) to another (zero waste) should be a seamless, obvious choice, right? WRONG. This week Veronica Milsom reminds us about the time she tried to raise her second baby... waste free. Last season Clare regaled us with a story about her husband's standing ovation at a cafe for... *checks notes* being a dad? (you can hear that here) And we fear today, Jordan Watson is about to do something similar. Known for his highly entertaining instructional videos on how to dad Jordan wants to tell us about the times he's "solo dadded". It's no surprise how unpredictable a baby's sleep schedule may be.  What never ceases to amaze us though, is just how someone else's sleep cycle can totally throw off another persons brain function. Like, forget what day of the week it is, or drive off with your phone on top of the car because you're so tired kind of brain function.  Just ask today's special guest Claire Hooper; she's thrown a sleep deprivation tantrum or two in her time.  THE END BITS Subscribe to Mamamia Listen to more episodes of The Baby Bubble here For your chance to win a $50 gift card, complete our survey here  CREDITS Hosts: Clare Stephens & Jessie StephensProducer: Taylah StranoAudio Producer: Tegan Sadler  Mamamia acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the Land we have recorded this podcast on, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. We're back baby! After putting ourselves down for a much needed nap, we're ready to jump back into The Baby Bubble for another season. Hey mama's, long time no unhelpful advice. Before season two of The Baby Bubble kicks off we must address an urgent listener dilemma regarding a subject that we feel quite qualified to speak on at the moment... travel! It’s time for the six month check up, which is apparently a thing we weren’t aware of. So, how are we fairing in the baby bubble thus far? Well, we’re still being kept awake at night by the concerning shape of our babies heads, but at least we’re raising tiny geniuses.  But maybe that’s just our parenting toxic traits coming out to play…  THE END BITS Subscribe to Mamamia Listen to more episodes of The Baby Bubble here CREDITS Hosts: Clare Stephens & Jessie StephensProducer: Taylah StranoAudio Producer: Thom Lion Mamamia acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the Land we have recorded this podcast on, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. Leaving the house pre-baby: get ready, grab phone and keys, leave. Now: it's been four hours and two changes later, we're all crying and I've forgotten a spare onsie. From forgetting what to pack, a negativity toward umbrellas and a magic bag these are all the ways we've survived, not thrived, leaving the house. (If only for a walk around the block which is a huge accomplishment TBH).  THE END BITS Subscribe to Mamamia Listen to more episodes of The Baby Bubble here CREDITS Hosts: Clare Stephens & Jessie StephensProducer: Taylah StranoAudio Producer: Thom Lion Mamamia acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the Land we have recorded this podcast on, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. He doesn't feel any guilt about outsourcing. I feel guilt about everything. We thought we had a pretty good grasp on who we were entering parenthood with... that was, until they had to execute the parenting part. And look, bless their cotton socks for trying, but we have some notes… THE END BITS Subscribe to Mamamia Listen to more episodes of The Baby Bubble here CREDITS Hosts: Clare Stephens & Jessie StephensProducer: Taylah StranoAudio Producer: Thom Lion Mamamia acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the Land we have recorded this podcast on, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. There are two questions every new parent dreads... Are you in a routine yet? How’s the baby sleeping?Bedtimes, routines and the idea of sleeping through the night all feel like wild west concepts while you’re in the baby bubble. And we might just have to holster our weapons for this unwinnable battle. The village is there for the vibes. Nothing says “here if you need” like rocking up unannounced, disrupting the routine, dirtying some dishes and then ducking out when the baby starts crying.' They say it takes a village… but what they forget to tell you is that the village can kind of be annoying. Look, we’re not being ungrateful. Mostly, we’re just really bored & tired. Feeding is weirdly high stakes… Whether you’re breastfeeding, formula feeding or dare we say it bottle feeding, everyone’s got an opinion on how to do it better. The fun thing about giving your baby nutrients is that it’s uniquely cooked for every individual. And don’t even get us started on breast pumps. Just because you had a baby, doesn’t mean Barbie didn’t just come out. You know what’s a totally fun and not at all terrifying experience? Taking your first dump after giving birth. It can basically only be topped by your first post-birth shower, which looks more like a crime scene than a shampoo commercial. Today we’re debriefing on the many firsts that come after birthing your bub, including Jessie’s pilgrimage to the Barbie movie. I don't mean to be rude, but who tf are you?Let's be honest, giving birth is like the most intense first date ever. You show up at the designated place nervously excited to meet your date, only for them to show up late and basically whinge the whole time. And then you're obligated to be with them. For the next 18 years. So what were our first reactions to our new babies? And maybe more importantly... what were their first impressions of us? It’s the final episode of season one of The Baby Bubble and Zoe is sick.  So the fabulous Holly Wainwright is stepping in to join Sean and share her parenting wisdom. Mess is a huge part of having kids but wouldn’t it be great if you could leave a room with your children without it looking like a bomb has gone off?  Sean has managed to train his babies to clean up after themselves and it didn’t involve nagging or bribery. Get the pen and paper ready! Plus, with everyone talking about the importance of kids finding their own identity what role do gendered clothes play?  Both Sean and Holly made a point of trying to dress their kids in a way that wasn’t traditionally gendered but they realised kids often find their own way there anyway.  So how much is nature and how much is nurture? And the parenting books are littered with advice on all the things we’re not supposed to be doing with our babies.  But is it possible to follow the rules all the time or is it more important just to get through the day?
