Rare Waters - Fly Fishing UnLocked.

Hogan sits down with RJ Hosking of Rare Waters. Rare Waters is a new online booking company similar to Air BnB working to connect anglers with private landowners on private waters throughout the West. While "private water" holds a very different connotation in California than other places in the West, what Rare Waters is doing by providing cheap ($125-175 a day) access to world-class fisheries throughout the West for the average angler is an interesting idea. Learn more about what Rare Waters offers and the larger Private vs. Public land debate taking place in many other western states, that fortunately, most of us in California don't have to worry about. Macala (Mac) Elliott Photographer, videographer, world traveler...and occasional fly fisher

Macala is one of the most talented young photographers in fly fishing. If you look at her photos and the places she has traveled to take them you would think she is a salty veteran. She grew up on the Texas Coast with her twin brother and father who are avid fly fishermen and instead of picking up a rod at a young age she picked up a camera and has never looked back. Honestly, she has never even caught a fish on a fly rod...though she is trying. Unlike many fly fishing photographers who put down the fly rod and pick up the camera she never picked up a rod until recently but has the passion of love of the sport to convey it in ways that many of us who come from the angling perspective never would have thought of. Enjoy.  https://www.macelliottmedia.com https://www.instagram.com/macelliottmedia/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-barbless-podcast/support

Hello! I have read Lee's book, A Temporary Refuge, and absolutely loved it. This was a great episode getting to hear him tell stories and talk about the ever so inquisitive steelhead. However, I will mention that in his book, Lee explicitly avoids saying the name and location of his pool. He also mentions at the end of the book that the best thing we can do for those N. Umpqua summer steelhead is NOT visit the pool. The fish are very easily stressed and as more visitors come, the less they can rest. Just wanted to throw that out there! Thanks.
