The season is over after today, and your Baltimore Orioles are crawling to the finish after two straight lackluster performances against the hated Yankees. What went right this season (not much), and what went wrong (just about everything). Zach is back with Paul to close out the 2025 Orioles season on The Bat Around.
The season is winding down with just four home games remaining, and seven overall. Can the Orioles finish on a high note and gain momentum heading into the offseason? One thing is for sure, the offense has been sputtering down the stretch, putting the magnifying glass on the need for a legitimate middle-of-the-order presence before next spring. Griffin Bass joins Paul to discuss this and more on The Bat Around!
The Orioles are hot again, sweeping the Padres in San Diego before coming home to take the first game against the Dodgers in walk-off fashion, as the freshly extended Samuel Basallo hit his first Camden Yards HR to send the Dodgers to the showers with their heads hung low. With the team getting healthy, is this the sign of what could be in store for the 2026 season? Plus, Dean Kremer leaves the game with forearm tightness. Are we concerned? Ryan Blake fills in for Zach Moore to discuss this and more on The Bat Around!
The Orioles won some big games last week, taking series' from Seattle and Houston while also calling up some top prospects for their long-awaited debuts. Leading the way was some stellar performances from the entire starting rotation, not to mention some surprise solidity from a depleted bullpen. Plus, ominous quotes from Kremer and Westburg. Is the front office on notice? Paul and Zach discussed that and more on The Bat Around!
Another day, another frustrating Orioles loss. But it doesn't matter now, right? Or does it? Should fans be rooting for more losses for a chance at a higher draft pick, or should you root for your team to win, no matter the circumstances? Plus, the Orioles are beat up (no way), but does that mean they should be trotting out infielders to play the outfield? Paul and Zach discuss that and more on The Bat Around!
Well, the trade deadline came, and it went, and so did 9 Orioles players. Bryan Baker, Gregory Soto, Seranthony Dominguez, Andrew Kittredge, Charlie Morton, Cedric Mullins, Ryan O'Hearn, Ramon Laureano, and Ramon Urias are all donning different uniforms for the rest of this season, and the Oriole clubhouse looks drastically different. Yet the core remains intact and the team is still playing competitive baseball. How did Elias and Co. do at the deadline, and what is the outlook for the future of the Baltimore Orioles? Paul and Zach discuss that and more on The Bat Around!
Two weeks ago we were talking about the newest Orioles as the team was in the midst of the Amateur Draft. Tonight, we discuss who could be leaving the Orioles as the trade deadline is just four days away. Plus, the Orioles made their way back home after a demoralizing 2-5 road trip and promptly blew a 4-run lead to the arguably the worst team in baseball history. But don't worry, they won the next two games! Does it even matter? Paul Valle and Zach Moore discuss that and more on The Bat Around.
With the 19th pick in the 2025 First Year Player Draft, the Baltimore Orioles select...Auburn Catcher/OF Ike Irish? Yup, the Orioles have selected another left-handed hitting college prospect! With 6 more day one picks, including the 37th overall pick they received by trading Bryan Baker to the Rays, can the Orioles replenish a once flourishing but now depleted farm system? It feels like 2021 all over again as a poor on-field product has turned out attention to the future, which starts tonight in Atlanta with the 2025 draft. Zach Moore is back to discuss that and more with Paul on The Bat Around!
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in! After a disappointing series in Texas where the Orioles won the first game for the 4th consecutive series, the team proceeded to lose the next two games to lose the third of those four series. But then came Atlanta, where the Orioles took advantage of a team that may just be in more dire straights than they are, sweeping all three games from the hapless Braves to pull within 9 games of that ever fleeting .500 record. Dillon Atkinson fills in for Zach Moore to discuss that and more with Paul on The Bat Around!
After losing of 2 of 3 to the Rangers, the Orioles bounced back to take 2 of 3 from the Rays, completing a .500 homestand before heading to Texas to take on the Rangers again in a 3-game series beginning tomorrow night. The bats have stepped it up this month, but Tomoyuki Sugano and Zach Eflin have taken a nosedive, the latter likely headed for the IL with a lower back strain. Do the Orioles have enough internal pitching to right the ship, or will the reinforcements that are due back in August be too little, too late? Paul and Zach discuss that and more on The Bat Around.
The Orioles are returning home from a two city road trip licking their wounds after playing well enough to hypothetically win 5 of 7 games, and playing poor enough to actually lose 4 of 7 games. Big early leads, late close leads, none of it mattered as the Orioles squandered a golden opportunity to put a new stamp on their season and put the league on notice. No, instead, all of Birdland is feeling like Dennis Green. "They are who we thought they were!" Paul Valle and Zach Moore (PigTownSports) discuss that and more on The Bat Around.
For the 3rd week in a row, the Orioles went 4-2 and now find themselves 10 games under .500 after being 18 games under back in the 4th week of May, and they sit just 6 games out of the final Wild Card spot as they look to become just the 5th team to start a season 30-40 and make the playoffs. Led by a returning, resurgent Jordan Westburg and a re-born Charlie Morton, does this team have what it takes to make a run? Plus, the Red Sox trade another generational talent to an NL West Team as Rafael Devers takes his bag of money to the San Francisco Giants. Paul and Zach discuss that and more on The Bat Around!
The Birds flew out West and continued their winning ways in Seattle, sweeping the Mariners. But then it was on the Sacramento, where the team looked more like the April & May version than the version that was 11-5 entering Sunday's game over their last 16. Still, the team went out west and won 4 of 6. Is it tainted by losing 2 of 3 to an A's team that had lost 22 of 24 entering the series? Paul and Zach discuss that and more on The Bat Around!
The Orioles won 4 out of 6 on their homestand, and 6 of 8 overall after sweeping the White Sox, as they try to inch closer and closer back to decency. Charlie Morton and Dean Kremer have looked great, the bullpen has settled (a bit), and the offense is about to get back Colton Cowser and Jordan Westburg. Are the Orioles about to turn a corner, or is it too late? Plus, Corbin Burnes looks like he may have injured his elbow. As an Orioles fan, are you relieved he didn't sign back with the team, or do you feel for the former team ace? Zach and Paul discuss that and more on The Bat Around!
The Orioles won back-to-back games for the first time in nearly 3 weeks to salvage a 4-game split with the Red Sox in Boston. What went right and what went terribly wrong? Plus, is the rotation rounding into form? And what would it look like for the Orioles to save their season? Paul and Zach Moore discuss that and more on The Bat Around!
The Orioles came home from a 2-4 road trip having won a series against the Angels and hoping to gain a little momentum. Instead, the team fell flat on their faces, going 0-6 on the homestand, getting Brandon Hyde fired and Kyle Gibson DFA'd along the way. Zach and Paul give their reactions and try to find signs of life from this dead squad on The Bat Around.
After suffering a sweep at the hands of the Twins in Minnesota, the Orioles went out to LA to take on the Angels and found some of that magic elixir that's been eluding them as the took 2 of 3 with another stellar start from Tomoyuki Sugano on Friday and a solid return to action from Zack Eflin fresh of the IL on Sunday. Can the Orioles carry their winning ways into a revenge series with the Twins in Baltimore? Zack Moore joins Paul to discuss that and more on The Bat Around!
May the 4th be with you, because it certainly isn't with your Baltimore Orioles. They get good pitching, they still can't hit, and when they finally hit, their pitching gives up 7 HR to the team with the fewest HRs in all of baseball. To put it in perspective, prior to Sunday, the Royals hadn't hit 7 HRs in any week of the season, and they hit 7 on Sunday afternoon, a game the Orioles lost 11-6 despite hitting 4 HRs themselves. Zach Moore is back to discuss that and more with Paul on The Bat Around!
What is there to even say at this point? The Orioles are playing their worst baseball in 4 years. The pitching is terrible, the offense is somehow worse, and there appears to be no end in sight. Yet, somehow, nobody has been held accountable and no consequences have been rendered despite the fact the team is 52-63 in their last 115 games dating back to June 24th. Zach Moore is back to discuss that and more with Paul on The Bat Around!
The bats have gone cold, the pitching has been off, the lineups have been questionable, and the defense has been sloppy. The Orioles entered the weekend 3 games under .500 for the first time in 3 years, and they don't look like they have any ability to turn it around anytime soon. Glenn Clark joins Paul to discuss the Orioles' slow start and whether a move needs to be made sooner than later to jump start the season. That and more on The Bat Around!
