My movie I love, but can’t bare to watch again is Melancholia. The overwhelming, increasing dread is so real.

I grew up in an orthodox jewish environment and Saved! exposed all the hypocrisy of religious fundamentalism. It was awesome that you covered this and fleshed out all the truth in this movie... the good and bad truth (fuck fatphobia)

The hosts' inability to disagree with their guest, who clearly has a totally different opinion about the Seymore character was embarrassing to listen to.

Predictable bad-faith criticism from those who don't want to engage with the story. Lindsay Ellis throws in some actual ideas but can't quite redeem the conversation.

The hosts are embarassingly uninformed and unprepared for every episode. I recently listened to Aliens and was looking forward to a feminist examination of a franchise built around a female protagonist who was originally written as male. I thought the hosts would surely have something interesting to say about the fact that Ridley Scott took a character who was male by default and flipped the gender without changing anything else about the script. Instead, to my utter dismay and consternation, I found that the hosts didn't even know about this history (a history which is widely known and would have been uncovered by even the slightest bit of research or preparation on their part) and were instead ignorantly complaining about how James Cameron made a point of her motherhood in the second film when that hadn't been mentioned in the first film. OF COURSE IT WASN'T MENTIONED YOU IDIOTS BECAUSE THE PART WAS GENDER FLUID. I can't even with these lazy, self-congratulatory, uninformed hosts. A waste of listeners' time.

One point to note about Sarah Jessica Parker's character is that she is the daughter of the town idiot. Each witch is the daughter of a different father and the same mother. Winifred's father is a warlock and Mary's is a bloodhound.

The cohost Jamie is such a wet blanket who needs to nitpick irrelevant things just for the sake of nitpicking, and her voice is nauseatimg, she is not fit to judge movies, her film history knowledge and understanding of nuance is extremely lacking, the Pleasantville episode was painful to listen to, so much cringe at her embarassing herself infront of a legendary film historian and critic whose long career in studying movies predates her birth by decades. Being a feminist is not hating everything on spot but having an open mind and not being quick to judge based on pre-set personal biased assumptions and projected generalizations.
