Yes, food is fuel but it is so much more than that. Food is community and connection, and honestly, sometimes that shit is simply delicious. We used to be those kinds of people who weighed every ounce of food and cried if you asked for a bite—aka, we were obsessed and dysfunctional. Now we can share food without a second thought and it no longer has the same kind of power over us. If you’re stuck in an unhealthy relationship with your food, know that food freedom is possible! It takes a little mindfulness and a lot of practice, but we’re here on the other side, waiting for you to join us (and share a French fry or two).Food obsession on competition diets [2:32]Dysfunctional food scarcity [4:11]Overcoming scarcity by sharing and mindfulness [7:10]Food can be a way to connect [10:10]Are you putting food on a pedestal? The holiday season is just around the corner and with the holidays comes a lot of stress, expectations, and obligations. Fuck that. Just because someone said you “should” spend the holidays with your family (who you might not even like!) doesn’t mean you have to! If it takes away from your peace and joy, it doesn’t have to be a priority. You may end up having a few difficult conversations and you may end up breaking a few traditions, but there’s always time to make some of your own.(This episode is a replay from November 2022.)The holidays are a stressful time [1:35]Preserving your own peace [3:09]The financial expectations and burdens [8:04]Practice letting the chips fall [11:25]Letting go of a narrow vision of the holidays [13:49]Having a solo holiday [16:30]Creating new traditions [18:15]Do the things that give you joy [20:18]Don’t forget to leave us a review and subscribe so you never have to miss an episode! We’ve been entrepreneurs for well over a decade now, and we know we have plenty of listeners with their own businesses or with entrepreneurial dreams, so we wanted to talk a little about the problems that come up in the course of doing business. It’s never fun when things go wrong, but struggle is sometimes the price we have to pay in order to meaningfully grow. You’ll never make everybody happy and you’ll grow resentful of your business if you even try, so it’s better to start viewing your problems as a sign of leveling up.Problems in your business are normal [0:54]A mentor can help you through, quicker [5:49]You earn your way to new problems [8:02]Reframe how you view your problems [10:25]You can’t make everyone happy all the time [14:59]Anyone can unfollow for any reason [18:22]What’s wrong for one person is right for another [22:57]There are always new things to try [23:39]You don’t have to look at things that hurt your feelings [25:49]Problems are a sign of growth [27:46]Don’t forget to leave us a review and subscribe so you never have to miss an episode! Is it just us, or is Black Friday out of control now? Less than 10 years ago, Black Friday was a one-day event where you’d slap a bitch at Walmart for taking the last flat-screen TV you wanted. Now, the entire month of November (and even into December!) we’re getting inundated with emails and texts and ads about every little thing you could ever dream of being on sale. We love buying things as much as the next person, but didn’t Black Friday start as a way to buy gifts for other people, and not ourselves? Everyone’s been asking the same question for years: can men and women be friends? We see no problem with male-female friendships, but things feel a little more complicated when it comes to your partner’s work-wife (or work-husband for that matter). Being in a relationship doesn’t stop people from falling for someone else, but there are signs to look for and ways to communicate your feelings. Besides, do you really want to be in a relationship with someone who makes you feel insecure? And if all goes wrong, there’s always the option of kicking someone’s ass.Falling for someone else while you’re still in a relationship [1:04]As long as the work-wife is not their type [2:50]Trust in your partner and in your own worth [5:48]Ask to be included [8:24]Insecurity is unattractive [10:07]Your partner loves you for *you* [13:45]Do you believe your partner has integrity? Life is complicated and as much as we would love some straight-forward answers, it’s rare we get any. Lately we’ve been thinking about how our consumer habits might be harmful, and how to deal with trolls on social media in a healthy way. Somehow, this is a hygiene podcast now. It was never our intent but either we’ve jumped the shark, or our lives are filled with really stinky people. We were personal trainers once and one thing personal trainers run in to is lots of sweat, and lots of sweat tends to mean lots of stank. It may be an occupational hazard, but no one wants to work closely with someone who smells awful. Pretty privilege is undeniable, but did you know that the more attractive you are, the more money you’ll make too? It doesn’t seem fair since our levels of attractiveness are pretty much fixed, but there are ways we can play up what makes us hot. Did you watch the big fight? You know, the one between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. We were never much fans of fighting, but it seems like the whole world was tuned in to watch Jake Paul get knocked out, but we didn’t get what we wanted. Some people claim it was rigged, while others claim it was unfair to watch a 27-year-old beat up an old man. Money matters, whether you like it or not. We believe that women deserve to make just as much money—and more!—as any man, and that wanting money is not a moral failing. After our marriages ended, it was more important than ever to be able to provide for ourselves, and we want the same for everyone. At the same time, we want to spend our money exactly the way we want to, while still living abundantly and generously, and of course getting to live a fun life that we fucking love. Danny has a secret weapon in her relationship, and it isn’t therapy. It’s ChatGPT. When things get heated, communicating is hard! Relationships are tricky, and it’s normal to wonder what life might look like outside of the one you’re in. Things get even stickier when the person you’re with is the only person you’ve ever known. We had a listener bravely share her doubts and confusion surrounding her relationship and her feelings of curiosity about what lies beyond and we wanted to give this more thought. We all only have one life, and spending it less than satisfied only hurts us down the road, but is there a clear answer in a situation like this? When you split from a long-term partner, there’s a real period of grief you’ll experience. No one ever goes into a marriage thinking that it’ll end, and when the unthinkable happens, it’s normal to feel lost and lonely—your world has been uprooted entirely, but life just keeps going on. So what do you do with your time when, for the first time in a long time, you find yourself single? Y’all know that we want to stay as healthy (and as hot) as we can for as long as we can, and a large part of that is our dental health. We’ve been taking our oral health seriously lately, and clearly, you need to hear all about it. We know the internet is full of people who say shit they don’t even believe just to rile us up, but damn does it get to us sometimes. There’s a new wave of men out there that think women who are single over the age of 30 can’t be happy, and if you’re a woman, you know how bullshit that idea is. We LOVE men, but sometimes they really piss us off. Yes, being in a relationship can make us happy, but it’s not the only thing that makes us happy, and at this point we’s be just fine without boyfriends. The men we’re in relationships with add so much to our lives, but our relationships aren’t the only things that give our lives meaning. And besides, how sad would it be if they only thing keeping us with our partners was the fear of being alone. We’ve been single over 30, and we’ve been in relationships over 30, and the presence of a man didn’t make much of a difference in our contentment with life.Businesses who “put God first” [1:42]Religious pandering [4:20]Can women over 30 be happy to be single? Looks aren’t everything—but that doesn’t mean they don’t matter. But are you a bad person for turning someone away for the way they look? It’s normal to have physical preferences in a romantic partner, and of course you’re never an asshole for having them, but in our experience, for the right person, you’ll be willing to make some sacrifices on physical appearance. We’d rather look for a few really great personal qualities and a less than perfect body than a Greek God with the personality of a piece of cardboard.Alex Hormozi’s business scaling event [2:06]Observing how other people run their businesses [8:34]Getting a full business education for free [10:22]Could you be attracted to a man who is out of shape? We love talking about relationships on this show, and that interest started with the upheaval we faced when our respective marriages ended due to infidelity. What we never realized was that that experience was a traumatic event for us—the kind of event that permanently alters our mental and emotional states. Dealing with betrayal and infidelity felt so lonely and isolating almost a decade ago as we went through it, but now there are people like Lindsay Haverslew, aka The Betrayal Trauma Therapist, who are normalizing and educating people on the real traumas of betrayal, and helping other people like us rewrite our stories with happy endings. We were so excited to talk with her about all-things infidelity and betrayal, and how people in the thick of their heartbreak can begin a journey towards healing.Connect with Lindsay: @the.betrayal.trauma.therapistBetrayal can be a true traumatic event [2:10]The shame and judgement around staying [5:18]Give yourself permission to not know [9:06]What do signs of real change look like? Would you date someone with a history of addiction? We all have different feelings about addictions, and different histories with addictive substances. We have a love-hate relationships with Threads. It’s a fascinating app with some of the worst rage-bait and hot takes, but we fall for it every time. Recently we saw a post about the idea that women, after a certain age, need to be dressing “age appropriate.” If you know anything about us, you’ll know what comes next: fuck that shit. We’ve always been live-and-let-live kind of people, and especially when it comes to what someone wears, we find ourselves thinking, who even gives a shit?
